The summon took a battle stance and without even hesitating, like a machine carrying out instructions, he launched himself in his direction with his spear pointed towards his body with clear intentions.

Gabriel did not let his guard down in any way. He didn't know the strength of his enemy and he wasn't foolish enough to get too confident just because he had defeated Goblins and Kobolds mainly using not very honest strategies.

With a challenging look, he swung his weapon quickly towards the summon. To which he deftly deflected and lunged at his body with a quick switch between defense and attack.

Gabriel, seeing this, couldn't help but be surprised, but regardless of his astonishment, his movements did not stop.

He quickly jumped back using his great strength and staying on the ground for a few seconds, narrowly dodging the invocation's lunge that almost ended the fight.

Although he had narrowly dodged the attack, due to the excessive force used to create a distance between them, he was unable to stop and found himself smacked into one of the numerous trees.

Letting out a small grunt of pain, he got up and repositioned as he saw how his Summoning had quickly closed the distance between them.

Rather than attack carelessly, he decided to go into a more defensive position. Waiting for the summon's attack, he raised his weapon slightly so that he could deflect or block any incoming attack.

The summon didn't even think about it and attacked directly at Gabriel's legs, so he had to move quickly and reposition himself at the same time to avoid a follow-up attack.

The attacks continued in this manner, as Gabriel dodged and defended while waiting for a gap to take, his Summon continually attacking with a prowess that could only come from a warrior who had trained for years.

As he deflected the summoning spear, he thought about what to do. I didn't have an effective way to defeat him if he was honest, defending was tricky with spear and I wasn't skilled enough to switch between defense and attack like summoning does.

Clicking his tongue, he could only attack instead of defend. Since if he did, the first to run out would be him. Although the battle was not a true fight to the death, he did not want to be defeated without putting up a fight.

Once he fended off one of the summon's attacks again, and the summon was about to switch to another attack, Gabriel unhesitatingly thrust out even as the summon was in the middle of one.

The summon quickly dropped attack and switched to defense, deflecting Gabriel's attack with ease. Only to be assaulted by an attack on the legs from a well-timed kick.

He was able to do so only because the summon was focused on attacking and defending against his spear, rather than paying attention to other possible attacks that could come from unexpected places.

The summon momentarily lost its balance, but digging its spear into the ground it was able to realign itself and fend off the spear coming from above in its direction. His hand narrowly stopped the attack on his head, and deflected it to the side.

Without hesitation he raised his weapon and was about to launch another attack, but the summoning didn't stop and he quickly resumed his position and attacked Gabriel with a thrust using his right hand.

Gabriel narrowly dodged the attack and attacked the summon's legs swinging his weapon again. But she wasn't going to fall for the same trick, so she diverted the attack to her legs and responded by swinging her weapon at Gabriel's body.

He didn't think too much and instead of continuing the fight by deflecting, blocking or dodging, he dropped his weapon. The invocation upon seeing this only responded by accelerating its attack to end this battle once and for all.

But what I don't expect is that a small flash of light suddenly appeared from Gabriel's hand, and from it a simple black dagger with a strange shape appeared.

He mistook for the unknown weapon, he just continued his attack. Gabriel didn't think too much and threw the Kunai towards the summon using all his strength.

The Kunai was shot at high speed towards the summon's chest. He couldn't respond fast enough and took the attack full on his chest.

His body quickly filled with light, before disappearing. The spear in his hands fell to the ground with a thud, marking the end of the battle.

Gabriel looked at this and simply commented "It seems that it can't respond correctly to unexpected attacks" He picked up the Kunai that was on the ground where the Summons had been before.

He had won not because of skill or intelligence, but simply because the Summons hadn't expected a point blank attack like that. Instead of doing a retreat attack or defense, go for the most illogical option you can think of, go all or nothing.

Of course, this would not work a second time. Since the summon would not fall for the same trick a second time.

It's not like it mattered either, now that he had tasted the strength of the summoning he couldn't help but be pleased. Not only was he strong, but he had sensitivity and could easily learn from past mistakes.

He also had an enviable mastery in the use of weapons, being able to attack and defend without any problem. Although this was only with the Spear, he would have to test its effectiveness with other weapons, but that would be another time.

I use his ability and summon his familiar again. This had clearly exhausted his stamina completely, but even on the ground he wasn't worried at all, he now had a Bodyguard after all.

Looking at his familiar, he ordered him to pick up the Bow and try to hit a fruit a bit far from where they were.

Something that I had noticed a while ago, is that many of the trees in the surroundings were fruit trees, having many fruits growing in the upper part of the tree. The only problem is that he would have to get on one of them to get it, but he wasn't very good at it, so he had to save that for later.

Luckily he found another use for them, being a target.

The invocation took the bow and the quiver full of arrows, taking one of these and pointing awkwardly at one of the fruits. He extended the string to its fullest point, only to let go of it, the arrow flying in a different direction than the sword.

The summon repeated this until it finally hit once. It only took seven arrows to achieve it, leaving three of them still in the quiver.

"Well, go look for them" He commented as he indicated that he should look for the arrows, luckily they weren't too far away, so he was able to gather each and every one of them, although some of them broke, becoming completely useless.

He had lost three arrows, but he couldn't care less. I toss them aside and order him to keep practicing.

Meanwhile I waited for my body to recover a bit. Once he was recovered he would start practicing with the daggers and the bow, he wanted to master some forms of ranged attacks and then he went on to continue training melee attacks.

This would take a while so for now I just observe the actions of his familiar, both to get used to it and to pass the time in this boring place.

While I was waiting for him to recover, I took the opportunity to check out {Summon Minion}'s ability.

<Skill Information>

[Ability: Summon Minion]

[Level: 1] [Grade: Elementary]

[Allows the summoning of a magical construction]

[The strength of the summon will be tied to the level of the skill and the summoner]

I hadn't checked the description of the skill when I first inspected it, but it seems that the strength of the summon is directly tied to both my level and the level of the skill.

So the stronger I get, the stronger my summons will be.

Currently my level was three and my skill level was 1.

I'm not sure if the level of both is added together or multiplied and then halved, but I'll still assume my level is taken as the base for the summon's level.

So currently the level of each summon was 3.

In case my level is divided with that of the skill, then it would be 2.

His strength should be enough to directly take on a Kobold or Goblin without any problem, and the fact that he almost defeated me had given him a good feeling.

For now, I would let him train a while longer before finally starting the battle against some monster in the surroundings. Of course, he would be watching the entire combat from a distance without interfering in any way, since he wants to watch as his summons dealt with one of them solo.

A while passed, and finally after about fifteen minutes of rest I had recovered to some extent , but because of that also a great feeling of hunger came over him, so he had to eat the fruits of the trees to satiate him.

With that done, he began his ranged weapons training.
