The village’s people come out after hearing the ruckus settle, and upon seeing the defeated Wyvern cheer in excitement. I secretly approach the Wyvern and wave a hand to him, to which he glares at me with hostility.

Becca Hey, you mentioned your kid. What did you mean by that?

The Wyvern’s eyes widen in shock most likely at the fact that I understood him.

Wyvern You can hear me? But there hasn’t been a Dragon Whisperer in eons. Is it a blessing or a mutation?

Becca Who cares about that. What were you talking about before?

I keep my voice down but the Wyvern grumbles with a low rumbly voice that loosely shakes the dirt. The cheering drowns out the noise so luckily no one is alerted.

Wyvern Is this some human ploy? Kill me and end it already.

The dragon talks gravely and closes his eyes in submission. This dragon isn’t going to talk so easily unless I convince it to. But do I risk it? What’s the worst that could happen? Well it could eat everyone here alive so there’s that to consider. I guess it’s worth a shot.

No sooner do I think this that I heat up the iron net with magic and weaken the bonds. I step back and watch as the Wyvern gathers the last of its strength to shatter the iron net accompanied by a roar.

The villagers freeze in fear but the Wyvern just flies off like that without so much as a fire breath. It maintains eye contact with me the whole way though. It says in an almost inaudible growl.

Wyvern Human. If you wish to know the truth, seek it out. This village will pay the price in blood for their sins.

The Wyvern leaves a cryptic message behind as he flies off, leaving me with only my thoughts and the distraught villagers.

The knight woman known as Brigid solemnly says. I was careless and now the chicken is gone. Don’t worry my friends, I’ll protect you.

The villagers including George have forgotten about my team and sing praises to Brigid, who basks in the glow.

Away from the village commotion, my team discusses the situation I heard about.

Cheshyr The price in blood for their sins? It really said that?

Envie Dragon’s in general do not involve themselves with humans unless dire circumstances call for it.

Lina So something must have happened.

Becca If we can resolve that issue, then maybe we don’t have to kill the Wyvern and it will leave the village alone. The problem is that it isn’t willing to talk to us, instead telling us to seek the truth. Whatever that means.

Laura Should I investigate the village?

Becca You, Lina, and the little ones can do that. Cheshyr and Envie can patrol the woods and keep an eye out for the Wyvern’s return. I’ll see what I can learn around here and if need be use a gate back to Realight City to learn about the history of this place.

The girls break up into their groups while I consult with the Clairvoyance skill. Oh mighty Clairvoyance, where might this truth be hidden? Ah, I got a blip on the map showing up. A big green dot that practically speaks to me like a big X mark. That was easy.

The location is a ways from the village but not too far of a hike. On a forested hill, deep in the depths, a large nest of branches and broken tree logs comes to view. This bird nest is gigantic and dwarfs any of the village houses.

I examine the nest and find traces of a Wyvern from scales to claw marks. What’s more is that there are footprints here, human footprints. The twigs are trampled and human blood was spilled here. A scene of carnage is recreated in my mind. Some of this blood isn’t human though, clearly some other kind of being. Could be a Wyvern.

Was the humans attacked by a Wyvern, or is it the other way around? Looking around further, I find egg shells litter the corner. This suggests a baby Wyvern, possibly the child. But other than the egg shells there are no signs of the baby Wyvern.

From these clues, I can guess that there was a conflict between human and Wyvern, with the baby ending up missing. Now there’s a Wyvern on the rampage talking about their child. So is this part of the truth I’m supposed to seek?

I hear another notification from my Game Menu and see that another dot has appeared on the map. A second clue gleamed from Clairvoyance has appeared off to the distance near the village. I’ll head there now and find out what’s up.
