Lee began walking down the church's steps confidently. There’s no taking back this decision. What's done is done. Lee traversed the streets of Neldam back to his humble abode. Along the way back, he stopped by the general store he bought supplies in earlier. He quickly bought a small pocket watch for five silver coins. The pocket watch is very simple, made of iron or steel, and only shows the minute hand at an interval of ten minutes. glancing at the time he sees that the time is currently 5:20 PM. Happy with a timepiece, he continued his trek home.

Arriving at his house, he sat down at his table. Now is as good a time as any. Bringing out his paper with the known elemental combinations he began to wonder about potential outcomes.

  1. Fire + Earth = Magma
  2. Fire + Water = Steam
  3. Fire + Air = Smoke
  4. Fire + Light = ???
  5. Fire + Dark = ???
  6. Earth + Water = Mud
  7. Earth + Air = Dust
  8. Earth + Light = ???
  9. Earth + Dark = ???
  10. Water + Air = Ice
  11. Water + Light = ???
  12. Water + Dark = Cold
  13. Air + Light = ???
  14. Air + Dark = Void
  15. Light + Dark = ???

Expert: Glacial, Explosion, Ash

Master: Cataclysm.

Let’s try to guess. I don’t need to worry about the fire combinations, because I don’t have a fire affinity. So starting with Earth + Light? Nature is my first guess, I suppose maybe life? like , plants growing is life? Gems maybe? Lee rubs his temples. Moving on, Earth + Dark. Decay? Can a cave be an element? Tomb? Graves? Crypts? Death? Deciding that none of those would, most likely result in potential healing. He moved on.

Eyes gliding down the list, Water + Light… Has potential? Reflections? Mirror? Moon? Rejuvenation? I’ll come back to this.

Air + Light? Doesn’t sound very healing to me. Light + Dark doesn’t either. Lee blows air out his nose in a huff. “Fuck it, once a week it is.” Lee holds his hands out and puts light mana in one, and earth mana in the other, and activates Arcane Synthesis.

Lee feels the mana within himself go haywire, both streams of mana from each of his palms rush together down his arms and into his chest, they collide. Lee suddenly feels a burst of energy from his chest. Overcome with the feeling of Life itself. The feeling slowly fades.

Cooldown: 6 days, 23 hours, 57 seconds.

Lee’s smile is so big his cheeks hurt. “FUCK YES!” He stands and exclaims out loud in jubilation. FINALLY something goes right. This must be it. Pacing back and forth, Lee begins to ponder a healing spell.

Let’s start small, I need someone to test on. Lee runs towards the kitchen and grabs a knife. Without hesitation he stabs the cooking knife deep in his arm, causing his warm blood to spurt out rapidly. Trying to cast his spell before his Healer’s Touch kicks in, he rushes his spell attempt. Lee pushes life mana in a small stream from his hand to the wound on his arm, willing the wound to close.

This normally wouldn’t work according to Anya, but Lee is hoping his knowledge of human physiology works out. Thinking of his white blood cells for infection, platelets to clot bleeding, and the growing of new tissues for fixing his arteries, veins, muscles, and skin, along with all the functions of each and why they’re needed another burst of energy comes from his hand to his wound. Softly glowing light surrounds the wound and heals it faster than what his Healing Touch alone was capable of in this short amount of time.

Lee chose to replace Orb of Light for now. He could see perfectly fine down in the tree thanks to mana veins and lanterns.

Ecstatic on his success, he began to think of a spell to cure illnesses, he needed someone with an illness to test, and he just so happened to have a list where some of them live. He was most familiar with cancer after all. Grabbing his paper he headed out the door with haste.

Finding the first home took Lee longer than he hoped, it took him a full hour. He eventually just asked a passerby for the names of each of the housing tunnels. The only names he knew before were his own, which was Root tunnel, and Nymies Crystal tunnel.

Approaching the home he knocked. *Knock Knock* A male elf answered the door, “Hello sir, my name is Lee Barnes. I was made aware of a patient with cancer named Halder here.” Lee introduced himself. Halder brightened a bit, “Oh yes, I was made aware of your coming. Come in, come in.” He waves Lee into his home. Vastly different from his own sparse home, this man's abode was well lived in and very decorated. Colors of all shapes lined the walls and in the corner of the room was an easel for painting on canvas. Around the room were pots with plants, finished paintings, dirty cloth, lots and lots of random stuff. It wasn’t dirty, but it was an organized chaos.

“I presume you are Halder?” Lee asks the man. Halder with a smile says. “Yes, please sit.” Lee goes over to a couch buried in random items. Lee gets comfortable, moving the small items to other areas. “I first have a request, worry not for your treatment. It is free and in no way is my request a requirement.” Lee explains to the man. Curious he nods. “I have just created a healing spell that mends wounds. It won’t work on your cancer, but I wish to try and create another spell which may be able too. Even if the spell fails. My ability will cure your cancer. I just need a person with cancer to test the spell on. Are you willing to help me with this?” Lee asks with a sincere smile. Halder laughs a hearty laugh. “A healing spell! Truely?! If I can be the first person to have a spell of even greater caliber cast upon me, I can live a happy life. You have my permission.”

Lee thankfully nods towards him. “Let me begin. What type of cancer do you have? Where is it located?” Halder replies, "It's my right calf bone.” Nodding Lee focuses life mana into his hand. He wills the life mana to target the mutated bone cells replicating repeatedly, willing the cells themselves to repair themselves. He felt a drain jump into being. Feeding the mana through the spell, he watched as the lumpy front of Halders calf smoothed out as pale white mana surrounded the cancerous cells.

Conjure Water, Earthen Strike, Gale Burst, Darken, Mend Wounds,

Lee selected Earthen Strike, already knowing he was going to, not needing attack spells at the current moment.

Quickly closing the three text prompts, Lee looks excitedly at Halder.

Halder has his big laughing smile and a single tear. “Well then! It appears you were successful! Joys for me and joys for you! You will change the world.” Lee says “I sure hope so! You are cured. I must be on my way, eleven more patients to cure!” Nodding quickly Halder says. “Go, go! Thank you so very much.” Halder pats Lee on the back and leads him out.

Lee quickly did his rounds, using his ability and spell when he had the mana. His ability worked fine, it just took a few minutes to finish compared to the spell. It was around 11PM when he finished with his last patient. She looked at him with pure unadulterated happiness. She said, “Thank you genesis. Thank you very much!” Lee was slightly confused at being called genesis but oh well, she was happy.

Lee left the home and slowly made his way back home. He brought up his last text prompts to read the spells once more in happiness, but noticed something extra. Opening it and reading caused him to stop in his tracks.

Thinking about what profession and class he was likely to receive, Lee fell asleep happy that his day turned out so well.
