She looked around she to see a group of disciples following a man in his late 20s, the group was all dressed in the uniform of the sect, but the different symbols on their chest meant they weren’t from around.

The man in the lead has a calm demeanor, he was the one who had just spoken up just now.

Watching the group Meng Lin was suprised as almost all of them seemed to be releasing aura at the peak of the Foundation Establishment Realm.

Only the man in the lead didn’t seem to be releasing his aura, but even without that Meng Lin realized that this man was clearly someone of a higher realm.

He stood with his arms crossed and asked in a deep voice “Meng Lin, the new diciple, you posted a mission for Ruan Lee, correct?"

Meng Lin nodded cautiously quickly remembering the blacksmith boy with the dark circles around his eyes, unsure of where this conversation was headed.

"Ruan Lee was someone on my blacklist and you helped him, I specifically instructed everyone in the inner section to turn a blind eye to him, and yet you didn’t," the man said, his tone turning cold.

Meng Lin furrowed her brows, "on your blacklist?“

The man's expression didn’t change, "yes, for the simple fact that you didn’t know I’ll only deman an apology."

Meng Lin's eyes narrowed as she considered the man's words. She didn't like being threatened.

But she also didn't want to cause trouble with someone who clearly had power and influence within the sect.

After a moment of hesitation Meng Lin shook her head, "I'm sorry, but I can't apologize, that goes against my principles as a cultivator."

The man's eyes narrowed, "You're making a mistake, girl. Apologize and I’ll let you be"

Meng Lin stood her ground, refusing to back down. She knew that she hadn't done anything wrong, and she wasn't going to apologize for it.

Moreover at her current position, she doubted that he would be able to do anything to her in the sect.

The young man expression darkened. "Fine. If that's how you want it, to keep my image you leave me with no choice, I'll make sure you are set as an example”, he said turning to leave.

Meng Lin watched as the man and his followers walked away, feeling a sense of unease wash over her, it’s not every day you get threatened.

She thought back to the recent actions of Ruan Lee, and couldn’t help but wonder about how similar all this feels to the novels she read.

She shook her head as she knew that this encounter was far from over and headed back to her courtyard, with a slight worry on her face.

Over on the other side, as the man walked away from Meng Lin, one of his followers couldn’t help but ask.

“Master Wei Han, couldn’t you have taken care of that diciple just now, the sect wouldn’t care if you step out of line once in a while.”

The man, Wei Han snorted, “you think the sect will turn a blind eye to one of the few with Luans Soul, I’ll take care of her outside the sect”

He continued "The problem is that Ruan Lee brat, in a matter of a single week he’s gone from the peak of the qi gathering realm to the peak of the early stage of the Foundation Establishment Realm, and because of that the sect is taking note of him, now it will be harder to deal with him”

“But couldn’t you just set challengers for both of them” another follower in the group asked.

Wei Han nooded as he replied “yes, the sect does allow for a challenge to the death, however it can only be done one time so I’ll have to be careful who to pick”
