"It left? It didn't turn into a liquid or anything?"

"No, I saw it squirm before suddenly jumping away and retreating into the sewers."

Dean was currently sitting at the back of the ambulance, putting ice on his left rib, which had the worst bruise. Currently, he is talking to the woman he saved who hasn’t left.

A while ago, he hurriedly chased after their traces, only to find out that the monster that was attacking them had suddenly left. Right now, they are surrounded by ambulances and police, who, after questioning him and giving him an odd look, proceeded to borrow an icepack from the medical staff.

It didn’t disappear or die, even when Dean destroyed the mysterious being's core. He didn’t know why it was so, but the next words of the woman in front of him answered his question.

"As it was on top of me, I saw a small strange-looking jagged object inside it, about the size of a pinky’s fingernail."

"Is that so?" Dean frowned at hearing this.

‘So that monster was really able to completely divide itself. But judging from what she said, it didn’t have the intelligence the ‘main’ body had—at least, it wasn’t able to speak.’

As Dean was lost in thought, The woman interrupted him, saying, "My name is Mika, by the way. Mika Aba. Again, I can’t thank you enough for what you did." Mika said sincerely, looking Dean in the eyes. But his attention right now was on her name.

‘Mika? That Mika Aba?’

Dean then examined the woman in front of him and discovered the familiarity in her.

Mika Aba was a well-known beauty in his university; not only was she beautiful, but she was capable and smart too. She should be a year above him so he could be considered her junior.

He heard some news about her that she was offered to be a model for a certain clothing company.

‘Now that I see her, she really has a great figure.’ He didn't notice it before because of the monster, but looking at her now made him realize she was indeed a beauty with a great figure despite her face looking haggard. She had that cold look with a hidden warmth inside her eyes.

Dean soon mentally shook his head to get rid of such thoughts.

"Mika Aba? I'm Dean. You already said your thanks. It's enough."

Dean didn’t bother to tell her that he was her junior from the university, as he had technically dropped out of it. And since she wasn't there when he got questioned by the police, she wouldn't know about it.

"No seriously, I-" Just as Mika was about to continue, two police officers came to her and said,

"Miss, I'm sorry to interrupt, but we need you to come to us at the office for a little questioning about the mysterious being."

"Oh, of course. Just wait. Here's my line QR. We should add each other on LINE. I'll find a chance to repay you."

Mika flashed her phone, showing her QR code. The police officer couldn't help but give him a smirk.

Dean inwardly rolled his eyes. As he stared into Mika's eyes, he didn't find signs of affection or something for saving her, but she had the eyes of someone who was really grateful and wanted to pay him back. And he liked it that way.

Not that she wasn't beautiful enough, but he just wasn't interested in dealing with such matters currently.

Just as he was about to deny her, intending to have nothing to do with her anymore, what the police officer said entered his mind.

'That mysterious monster—who was that? And how did it become a monster?'

He was interested in the origins of the monster, especially since it seemed it wasn't completely dead yet.

One of the rules of monsterfication in Opm was that, usually, a person with intense obsession with something will have drastic change and eventually, they turn into the physical representation of their obsession.

He was interested in the origin of the being's obsession in order to understand its weakness or at least, its origin.

And so, Dean grabbed his phone from under one of the small pockets on his holster belt.

At this point, he had taken off his jacket and was wearing a shirt given to him by one of the officers, as his shirt got ripped here and there.

However, he didn't have extra pants to replace his ripped pants, making it look like he just got out of a disaster.

Well....he did.

"Sure, I would also like to know about the mysterious being."

After Dean scanned the QR, he didn't bother looking at her profile or the money as he grabbed his sword that was placed to the side and thanked the medical staff before he headed home as it was already night.

'What a day.’

"Get out of here! I don't entertain kids!"

Was the last thing Dean heard as the door in front of him suddenly closed with a slam.

Seeing it, he sighed deeply. After waking up this morning and working out and doing the Saitama routine, he called the number Jougo gave him about a person who specializes in making protective clothing.

The caller, by the name of Danny, after hearing him say he wanted to commission a suit, gave her this address and promptly ended the call. Shortly after, he reached this place, which was in a back alley.

Danny was a middle-aged, gray-haired woman with few wrinkles who wore long and baggy clothes. After meeting her, He then went to tell her what he had planned to commission and showed her the sketches he had done these few days.

At first, she was apprehensive, but when she learned he wanted to become a hero, that he planned to get an official license, and that he had dropped out of university, she suddenly denied him, making a fuss before eventually kicking him out.

'What's her issue?? '

He could only walk back into the streets.

‘Well, that didn't work. What now? '

He considered his plans. He was wearing a casual white shirt and black joggers. On his back was still his sword. By now, he was used to receiving odd looks.

‘Is the fate of new aspiring heroes to sew their own uniform first before having a final one??’

Dean remembered the memes he had seen in his past life and couldn’t help but chuckle…

‘One of the essential skills of becoming a hero is knowing how to sew!’
