"Young master Fang, I don't think we should be here."

One of the lackeys said as he looked towards Fang Qiyan. They have just sat down in the theatre room and the movie hasn't even properly started, but the lackeys were already cowering in fear.

"Yes, this is all a trap by Tang Yan. I'm pretty sure the owner is scheming with him too." The second lackey added, agreeing with the first one.

Both of them were actually cousins and had the same stupid mind in them.

Hearing their words, Fang Qiyan wanted to hit their heads.

"Are you two not students of the esteemed academy? Or you have just entered it by bribing your way in?"

"How did you—" One of the lackeys quickly stopped himself from speaking as his boss blinked his eyes.

Finally, he let out a sigh.

"Just stop acting like weaklings. It's just for two hours. No matter what evil spirit came, I'm here to protect you two."

He said finally and turned to watch the screen.

The two lackeys also understood that there was no point explaining anything to Fang Qiyan.

They could just endure whatever this movie was.

Anyway, if it was actually a plot by Tang Yan and the owner, Fang Qiyan won't let them get out unscathed. He was a cultivator who was about to touch the third stage.

No one dared to scheme against him.

"That doll looks creepy."

One of the lackeys muttered as the movie started.

"It's really like it's happening in front of me. Tang Yan wasn't lying. This magical artifact is so strong and mysterious."

On the way to the shop, Tang Yan had explained to them how a movie worked and how the TV would show them a vivid illusion.

It was like a novel but rather than reading it, they were watching it, making a much better immersion.

Fang Qiyan found himself getting lost in the story very quickly, especially as the story of the doll 'Annabelle' started.

Though, as it progressed, he felt more and more creeped out and barely managed to stop himself from screaming out loud due to the jumpscare.

The same wasn't true for his lackeys as both of them held Fang Qiyan tightly, getting more and more scared by the minute.

"Hey, why are you two holding me tightly?"

"Young master, let us be. Or we won't be able to watch this evil movie."

Thankfully for them, the movie soon took a turn for the better as the 'Perron family' was introduced and the movie finally made them feel a sense of relief.

Fang Qiyan even felt like the little kids were very cute.

But he had a bad feeling in his heart. After all, Tang Yan had described the movie as the most horrifying experience he ever had.

'I hope the evil spirit doesn't harm the family. They look very good together.'

He thought in his mind and felt himself more and more immersed into the story.

His worries started to become a reality as paranormal activities started happening in the house with the family finding the dog dead and one of the girls waking up with bruises in her hands.

As the three of them didn't know how it was happening, their fear was increasing as the movie events unfolded.

"Young master, that evil spirit seems too powerful."

"Y-yes… the family also don't seem to have any cultivation experience to fight off against the evil spirit."

"You two! Calm down! Everything will be okay."

Although Fang Qiyan tried hard to seem normal, halfway through the movie, he just wanted to run out of the room.

He was a cultivator but until now, he had been in the vicinity of the city and hardly had any real life combat experience.

In simple words, he was too young to handle horror movies well even after being a cultivator.

He had never seen something so terrifying and hence, from time to time, he too would scream out loud with his lackeys.

All three of them were huddled up together as they watched the movie, their hands almost shaking with the terror they were witnessing.

Their clothes were already soaked with sweat and their eyes were now privy to the horror they never thought existed.

Fang Qiyan even tried to close off his eyes to not see the movie but just the sounds were enough to scare him.

'I need to get out of here… I can't fight against that evil spirit!'

He thought as the evil spirit continued to torment the family.

His face twitched as he wondered if he should destroy the magic artifact but he was scared that the evil spirit inside of it would let loose.

In his mind, the evil spirit would then spring out of the screen and start tormenting him.

The evil spirit would kill him in an instant, going by how scary she looked.

His thoughts reached an end when he saw the face of the evil spirit and he gulped his saliva, his heartbeat rising exponentially.

Without waiting for a moment, he bolted out of the door.

Seeing that, the two lackeys couldn't help but be surprised.

"Young master!"

"Don't leave us with the evil spirit!"

They shouted as they ran out of the door to chase him.

Ten minutes before Fang Qiyan and his lackeys ran out of the room, Tang Yan was smiling while looking at the door to the theatre room.

Just now, he had heard a scream filled with fear and horror like someone had seen a live murder in broad daylight.

The voice of the scream belonged to Fang Qiyan, he was sure of it.

He couldn't help but give a smile, filled with happiness. He hadn't felt so good even when one of the girls in his class had agreed to dual cultivate with him.

'You made fun of it. I'm going to make sure you wake up in nightmares everyday from now on.'

"Hey, are you going to scam someone?" Kai suddenly asked, making Tang Yan give him a strange look.

"What?"

"You look like a scammer." His smile faded away and he didn't know what to say. People seldom talked to him so casually, but Kai didn't really care about those things.

After all, Tang Yan didn't seem like a guy who would be scary. At least he can't think of him like that after seeing him run away like a little kid.

"Let me ask you something, Owner Kai." Tang Yan said. "Do you only have <The Conjuring>? Is your artifact only capable of playing that?"

"No, it can play other stuff."

Kai said as he thought about his quest. It hasn't been completed yet as Fang Qiyan and his lackeys were still inside. But after it was completed, he hoped that he would get good rewards.

Maybe even some cool superhero movie.

"Then, why are you not playing them? I don't want to sit through that movie about the horror spirit. I want something lighter."

"It's not easy to get new movies. Do you think an artifact like that is easy to run or a movie easy to find? You don't know how much I have sacrificed for even <The Conjuring>."

Kai said as he bullshited his way out of the conversation, not knowing how to answer it without revealing his system. Tang Yan also didn't ask anything as he made a solemn expression.

'Sacrifice? Is it connected to the Wang clan tragedy?"

He thought in his mind as a misunderstanding started to brew inside of it. As an avid reader, Tang Yan's mind worked fast especially with these kinds of things.

As he was thinking, a loud shout again came from inside. This time, it was much worse.

"It doesn't seem like they would be able to stand for longer."

Shen Mu said, having already seen scenes like these in the last two days.

"Young master Fang would be okay, right?"

"If something happens to them, I don't know what will happen to us."

The two girls talked among themselves and looked worried, but Tang Yan just snickered at that.

The screams kept getting worse and worse by the second.

'The door will open any second now.'

Kai thought in his mind as he waited and waited. It was then that a person bolted out of the theatre room.

Surprisingly, it was Fang Qiyan and not one of his lackeys. Though, they followed suit.

There was horror on his face and sweat had even drenched his clothes. He seemed to be very dishevelled as he tried to run out of the shop, just like Tang Yan.

But he tripped and fell as he reached near the counter, his lackeys following suit like it was some bad slapstick comedy.

The only person who found it funny in the whole shop was Tang Yan who started laughing out loud.

On the other hand, the three victims started shaking on the floor. Fang Qiyan even pointed at the theatre room and shuddered, like someone is going to walk out of there.

"That evil spirit… She's after me. I need to find my master. Or the family head! Only they can save me. Only they can save me…"

He muttered constantly and repeated like he was some broken tape. The two girls quickly sat down beside him and tried to sooth him.

"Young master, what happened to you?"

"Please snap out of whatever magic is casted on you."

No matter how much they shook him, he didn't stop shivering. Kai frowned seeing that, hoping that the movie hadn't broken him beyond repair.

He took a bottle of water from the desk and poured it on top of Fang Qiyan's head, then his lackeys. Tang Yan was surprised to see that, but Kai simply looked down at the frightened cultivator.

"Snap out of it. There's no danger. If you keep acting like a fool, people are going to lose respect for you."

Immediately, Fang Qiyan's eyes returned to life, having felt the coldness of water. It was like the black, horrific fog in his mind was dissipating.

After saying that, he looked at Tang Yan.

"Take them out of here and pay me."

"Ah, yes." Tang Yan nodded and quickly paid more money to Kai before picking up Fang Qiyan and leaving. The two girls supported the lackeys who seem to have passed out.

'He's too cool headed for some reason.'

Tang Yan couldn't help giving a side eye to Kai as he left the shop, thinking to himself that he was going to look into his background a bit more extensively.

As for Fang Qiyan, he had taken his revenge and it has also worked like he had thought. Though, even he hadn't expected that he would get this scared.

After they left, Kai simply smiled.

"Young master, do you think they would come back to cause trouble? The Fang clan might take it as an insult and they might come for revenge." Shen Mu said, looking a bit anxious. The elite families often don't think clearly before acting out.

"Revenge?" Kai muttered. "I don't think that will happen. They came here on their own and they knew what they were getting into."

He didn't think too much into it just because of one reason that not even Shen Mu knew of.

'There's an effect of the movie they have not seen yet.'

Instead of that, he looked at the holographic screen in front of him.
