"Hey 007 I'm curious, how much does Bai Wehan and Gu Junling's progress so far since we didn't disturb them at all?" Jason asked during the silent night.

It was a rare night where he couldn't fall asleep even after tossing and being tossed around by his lover.

Zheng Roufeng was currently asleep naked beside him and Jason couldn't help but fondled his lover who was deep asleep since he didn't feel a wink of sleepiness at all and at the same time he decided to talk with 007.

[Since I'm a higher level system, I can hack to look into the system every time it interacted with Bai Wehan without being noticed. The current affection level of Gu Junling towards Bai Wehan is only 65%.]

40% is the level of same-minded friend, 50% will be close friends, 60% will be bestfriends and above 65% will enter the ambiguous territory of really good friends/crush.

"He still have a long way to go. So what else do you find?"

Sensing that Jason's mood became worst, 007 immediately explained, [This is just my conjuncture but I don't think that system supposed to exist in this world and even in the plot, there wasn't any mention of any system. That system might be the culprit for Bai Wehan's low Luck value and it might also be the bug we are looking for. If this is true, the more the system interact with other characters, the more their Luck decreases so it can continue to use it as a source of energy to continue existing.]

Jason frowned. He couldn't let his lover became close to Bai Wehan and he also didn't want to sacrifice himself for something uncertain.

The only person left was Gu Junling.

[There is a part in the plot where Bai Wehan saved Gu Junling during an avalanche when their drama crew went there to promote the drama in a game show.]

Jason stared at the still sleeping Zheng Roufeng while thinking, 'I need to spend  some more money so the protagonist can be a savior and save the handsome.'

He needed to push Bai Wehan to be with Gu Junling faster while at the same time finding a way to extract that bug system out without killing Bai Wehan.

Thinking about what he needed to do next, Jason thought he might needed to change the plot a little, just a little.

"Ok, you can continue to monitor Bai Wehan and his system."

Thus the next few days, Bai Wehan couldn't help but felt excited and shocked when he got the tickets to go to a newly open foreign ski resort.

"Are you sure about this Director Gu?" He couldn't help but asked Gu Junling.

"Yes. I heard the drama crew will choose a ski resort and the representative from this new ski resort just came to our company asking us to promote their resort at the same time. I already call the resort and they said that they will gladly let us shoot the promotion there. So these are some of the perks along with free accommodations for all the crew members that will come along. They will also have professional photographers following you around."

Bai Wehan who was feeling excited didn't have the time to think that something was odd or out of ordinary.

He just thought he was lucky and he felt really excited.

[Ting!]

Bai Wehan felt happier when he saw the affection level increased by 5 just like that.

Seeing Bai Wehan getting excited just from knowing they would go to a a ski resort, Gu Junling felt pleased. He felt it was worth it asking around for a suitable place to do the film promotion.

Unexpectedly, Jason was the one who reached out to him offering them an offer he couldn't reject. Who doesn't like free things?

"Are you sure Jason? Free accommodation for all the crew? And we can shoot at any site we wanted?" Gu Junling asked for a second time just to be sure.

He could hear Jason's voice answered calmly, "Yes. This is my father's new resort so we need some exposure and promotion. The location is a bit isolated but the scenery is breath-taking. Take a look at the pictures I sent you."

"I have already seen the pictures. It really is beautiful. So since you said so, I will be ungrateful not to accept such a generous offer. Thank you junior."

"Well, it's nothing much. We will also going to have a party there later so you guys can join in to."

"Sure."

When Bai Wehan was resting, he suddenly got another notification from the system that made him too stunned to even think of anything.

[Ting!]

 

[Gu Junling's affection towards Jason Jung increased by 7%]

"W-what? Why? How? They don't eve meet these past few weeks," Bai Wehan asked while gritting his teeth.

[They have a phone call with each other]

"Do you know what they talked about?"

[I'm a law abiding system so I don't pry into other people's phone call.]

"Tsk you useless system."

The system let Bai Wehan grumbling by himself while it try to probe around the known characters for any suspicious things. It could feel something was odd but he couldn't detect anything out of the ordinary no matter how long it tried.

In Zhang family mansion

Zhang Aiming looked at his sister who was sitting in front of a blank canvas. His sister's face was as blank as the canvas. She seemed to be in deep thought thus Zhang Aiming didn't disturb her and just observed her.

After a while, she seemed to sense that there was someone else's in the room and turned around with a slightly startled expression.

"Aiming, since when you've been standing there," she asked.

"Just a minute ago. What are you doing sis?"

Zhang Arin stared at the blank canvas again before she said, "I dream of a baby but I can't see the face so I'm trying to paint a baby but I don't seem to know how."

"Maybe you can use A-Xin's picture when he was a baby as a reference."

"No, the baby looked different."

Zhang Aiming raised his eyebrows, "I thought you said you can't see the baby's face? How do you know it's different?"

"I just know that it's different. The baby looked healthy and has rosy skin. He is so quiet and warm."

Zhang Aiming didn't say anything and just continued listening to her until she suddenly asked him a question out of the blue, "Aiming, do you think I'm a bad person?"

"Why do you think so sister?" Zhang Aiming didn't answer her question.

Zhang Arin stared at the blank canvas silently for a moment before saying, "Because God seem to think I'm not good enough to be a mother for my babies."

Zhang Aiming didn't reply and remained silent which Zhang Arin already used to.

He knew her sister always regretted that she lost her baby 26 years ago due to her carelessness in trusting the wrong man.

Later on when she married Gu Xihuai, because of the trauma of losing her child, she became paranoid and Gu Xin was born prematurely. He needed to be put in an intensive care unit for three months until he was stable enough to be brought home.

Zhang Arin got pregnant again when Gu Xin was ten years old.

During that time she suddenly confronted Gu Xihuai about something and because Gu Xihuai was angry, he started to yell and throw things towards Zhang Arin who later ran away from the enraged man.

While she was running down the stairs, she stumbled and fall down causing her to suffer a miscarriage.

Zhang Arin's mental health became worst since then, coupled with Gu Xihuai's temper which made her worst.

Seeing her sister withered away, Zhang Aiming decided to take her away from the Gu family but his parents disagree and felt Zhang Arin was a weak woman and a disappointment.

Zhang Arin was later put in a sanatorium while Gu Xin went back and forth between the Gu family house and the Zhang family before deciding to stay with the Zhang family.

Zhang Aiming looked out the window and stared towards the rose garden. In the middle of the garden stood an inconspicuous looking black slate.

That was the grave of his death nephew 26 years ago.

When the baby died, Zhang Arin was also in a mess. She kept trying to eat the baby's ashes thus they decided to bury the ashes and made a grave.

"Sister, why did you name him Ray?" Zhang Aiming asked curiously.

Nowadays, Zhang Arin's condition has become much better thus they could talk about such a topic to a certain degree.

"Because I'm a love fool. I thought the baby will be the new light and the proof of our love," Zhang Arin smiled deprecatingly before saying, "But who would have thought."

Knock knock

The sudden knocking sound made Zhang Aiming swallowed everything he wanted to say, "Who is it?"

"Uncle, it's me. Is mom in there with you? Can I come in?" Gu Xin asked from behind the door.

"Oh, it's Xinxin. Come in son," Zhang Arin said softly.

"Mom, you look prettier each day. If I show you to my friends, they might think you're my sister."

Zhang Arin chuckled slightly, "Xinxin is already so big that he know how sweet talk with his own mother."

"Is there something you want to say A-Xin?" Zhang Aiming knew Gu Xin just came back from the Gu family house.

"Brother JinYang decided to host the engagement banquet at a famous hotel as per request by the Su family since their daughter love the scenery and design of the hotel's garden. The banquet is set a month later. They invited all of us to come and grandpa specifically told me to tell mom to act like a decent wife in public for once."

Zhang Arin snorted when she heard such an absurd words.

'Act like a decent wife when that bastard is not even a decent husband?'

Zhang Aiming on the other hand didn't feel surprised since he knew how much old man Gu value his family reputation. Since Zhang Arin and Gu Xihuai is still legally married, of course they needed to act appropriately in front of public eyes at such an event.

"I'm sorry mom. I already told them that you're sick and can't go out often but grandpa is stubborn and insist everyone in the Zhang family to come," Gu Xin said worriedly.

"No it's fine," Zhang Arin knew his son never have any say in the Gu family.

His father Gu Xihuai also never cared that much about him so would he support Gu Xin's words? Obviously not. That cowardly man is useless.

"The Qi family must have said that they will all attend since Qi Yuran had been complaining to me that she wanted to run to another country using the excuse of work next month. The banquet must be the reason," Zhang Aiming said.

"Will you attend with Yuran?" Zhang Arin asked.

"Yes. Although we're not legally married to each other anymore, we never announced our divorce so most people thought we're still husband and wife."

"Mom will surely try to make Yuran annoyed."

"Let her be. I heard the He family will also attend so mom will have to behave or else her brother will definitely educate her like before."

Their mother's brother, He Bo is married to Su family distant relatives, Su Ting and Gu JinYang's fiancé is the Su family's only daughter.

Their mother, He Qian was a fussy and picky woman that tend to easily feel dissatisfied or annoyed by just a minor things. The only person she was afraid of was her brother.

Zhang Aiming continued, "Plus, they will be a drama worth to see there."

Zhang Arin couldn't understand what he meant but Gu Xin knew what he was talking about.

"Do we have to do anything, uncle?" Gu Xin asked.

"No, just stay calm and enjoy the drama."

"What drama are you talking about?" Zhang Arin was confused.

"You are going to like it sis. The tea will be sweet so you don't need to worry," Zhang Aiming didn't explain any further and just told her it was a surprised for her.
