"Today is your first combined class and every month, you guys will have combined classes with other classes. I'm your magic instructor for today, Jered Johnson, graduated from Advanced Magic Academy *(AdMA) and one of the members of Vulcan Magic Tower."

*(There's another magic academy being mentioned in previous chapters: Apprentice Magic Academy (AMA). It's a lower level academy than AdMA. You go to AMA first before graduating and enrolled into AdMA)

It was currently 2:30 in the afternoon and the time for Monday's third class thus some of the students already felt lethargic.

50 students from class A and thirteen students from class Zero were gathered in a lecture room inside the Magic Library Building.

The two classes seem to be separated by an invisible wall because class A students were all sitting close to each other and none of them wanted to sit closer to class Zero students.

However Jered Johnson didn't seem to mind, "I will be teaching you practical magic and mana control for three hours. Please focus during my class."

The magic instructor introduced himself and talked with a seemingly gentle smile. However Ares knew who he really was and he couldn't help but glance towards Cedric's direction for a moment.

Jered Johnson was a noble but he was also a prick.

He led a successful life as the child of a noble family that specialized in magic like the Soraz and Samahah. But his talent wasn't good enough to land him any position in any government post or in the magic tower.

Nonetheless he ended up becoming one of Heptagon's instructors thanks to his family's lobbying and that seems to be the limit of his career.

In the end, he acknowledged his limits and tried his best in the education sector. He also published a few trash books on how to use magic for dummies.

But his poor character- arrogance, jealousy and perverseness, would cause problems in the future.

To make matters worse, he even formed a contract with a baron level demon.

"You might be thinking, 'why should I learn magic when I'm not a mage?' But I'm sure you all know that Qi reinforcement and sword Qi are extensions of magic."

Jered released his magic power into the air as demonstration. The soft and jelly-like magic power he emitted instantly hardened when he concentrated.

"Now, if you simply use your 'physical power' to reinforce your magic power, that becomes Qi reinforcement or sword Qi. But if you refine your magic power with some calculations...."

Immediately, a pink flame rose up from his magic power. Some students instantly exclaimed in awe.

"It becomes magic," Jered Johnson smiled.

Looking around, he was satisfied with how the students reacted. He always liked the look of ignorant students being easily impressed.

"Since today is our first class together, we will look through some of the unique magic that only certain people managed to manifest. So please come to the front here, student Ares Targael from class Zero."

"......."

'Task, I only wanted to watch the fun.'

However, Ares didn't have any excuse to reject him and he immediately walked towards Johnson who was standing in front of the class.

"The Targael is widely known for their fire magic and resistance to fire. So student Ares, can you show us a demonstration?" Jered said with a smile.

'Can I say no? Why am I even here to begin with?'

Cedric also never thought such an occasion would happen but he was ecstatic since he didn't need to do anything.

Not wanting to stand there for too long, Ares conjured up two flames on his palms, 'You wanted to see fire magic, I will give you fire magic.'

A gush of flames started to envelop his hands until his shoulders. Some of the flame almost touched Jered who was caught off guard but managed to evade it by moving backward.

Since Heptagon's combat uniform was magic resistance, it was still fine and not being burnt to a crisp.

"As you can see, magic is flexible. You can use it to envelop your entire body. For fire magic users, they will put a layer of mana around their body so the fire will not harm the caster."

It was obvious Jered was using Ares as a prop and feeling uncomfortable being stared at, Ares felt he already did enough and nonchalantly went back to his seat.

Jered's face contorted slightly but most of the students didn't notice it, "Well, let's call another student. How about the third rank Cedric Rahell from Class A?"

Cedric already knew Jered would be targeting him due to his commoner status and high rank. Cedric was like a sore thumb for people like Jered who value bloodline and lineages.

After Cedric stood beside Jered, a light blue sphere the size of a ping-pong ball shot up from Jered's palm.

"This is a necessary magic spell to learn before entering a real Dungeon. It's called Light Sphere. It will be your light source in dark areas inside the Dungeons. It may look easy at first glance but to wield it skillfully..."

Jered gave a complicated explanation. He either purposely complicated his explanation or he was just bad at explaining.

"Now before I teach you where to begin, let Cedric try to do it first."

It was pretty obvious to everyone that Jered was purposely targeting Cedric. Why didn't he ask Ares to do it? Probably because Ares was a noble and Cedric wasn't.

Cedric didn't say anything and started to do as he was told. In a second, the same Light Sphere as the one Jered just showed to them appeared on Cedric's palm.

Jered, who initially maintained a calm expression on his face, couldn't help but frown when he saw such a scene happening in front of him.

"Student Cedric, do you not understand my explanation? If you do it like that, it will strain your mana."

He started to criticize Cedric despite the Light Sphere looking perfectly fine and identical to the one he made. Only an idiot would believe the reason such as 'it would strain your mana' when forming a simple Light Sphere.

"But Sir, I think my mana feels fine."

Cedric obviously is not an idiot but he decided to play along with Jered's charade to see what he would do next.

"No no...Sigh, this is why it's hard to teach commoners."

Some students were shocked to hear such a statement but they were all silent and no one said anything.

It wasn't surprising for him to act like this and most of the noble students already knew about it since he was an advisor of the Blood Supremacist Club.

Just based on the name, many people could guess what that club entailed. Blood Supremacist was a club made up of only nobles and the alumni from that club would continue interacting with each other even after graduating from the academy.

The doctrine of the club was basically well explained in its name, to showcase the importance of legitimate lineage and bloodline. Thus they looked down on commoners and just viewed them as dispensable workforce.

Jered Johnson was someone that obsessed with lineage and despised talented commoners the most thus it was obvious why he targeted Cedric.

"Ares, show me your Light Sphere."

Ares felt annoyed when he heard the commanding tone Jered used. He knew he was also kind of an eyesore to Jered due to his 'commoner' father. It was like his noble blood was half tainted in Jered's eyes.

Thus instead of casting a simple spell like Light Sphere, Ares casted <Inferno Ball> instead.

The ball of fire managed to land on top of Jered's head and burn his dirty blonde hair wig.

"Arghhh!!!"

Due to the unexpected attack, Jered didn't manage to evade and he immediately casted water spell to extinguish the fire.

"Doesn't the Light Sphere seem too bright Ares?" Prince Theo asked.

"Hahahaha his bald head looks funny."

It was unknown which one of class Zero students said that but Jered looked extremely pissed, "As expected of a halfling, you don't even understand simple command."

"Command?" Ares was irritated.

The faint demonic energy every time Jered used magic has already irritated him enough and now this bastard even dared to call him name and gave him a command.

"See? This is why your lineage and pure bloodline are important since that's what determines your talent."

The pure bloodline was obviously referring to Ares who he just called a halfling. It was a well-known fact that his father is a commoner but it was also well-known how much the Targael cherished their youngest thus Ares wasn't sure why Jered was acting like this.

It was obvious he was purposely picking a fight with him but why? Didn't he know that a Targael could sense demonic energy?

"Well, at least this halfling has more talent than a certain someone that depended on his family just to find a decent job," Prince Theo said nonchalantly when he realized Ares was contemplating on what to do.

Jered's face crumpled when he heard what Prince Theo said. It must have hurt his ego since he knew all too well that he was considered mediocre at best if it was based on the noble family's standard.

A few students started to giggle mischievously. It was an open secret that Jered was considered not so talented.

If he was born in a commoner family, he might have to work as a low level mage in a mercenary with no fixed income or even worse, he might not even be able to awaken his mana and learn how to control them properly at all.

"An abandoned prince even dares to disrespect me?!" Jered looked furious.

"Didn't he say the truth?" Sierra looked confused.

"Yep, his highness is correct. Aren't you the perfect example of 'bloodline and lineage doesn't determine your talent'? You must have felt insecure your whole life that you even targeted a first year student just for being a commoner. Isn't that pathetic?" Laura chimed in fearlessly.

"When will the class end? This class is boring," Robin muttered.

"Hey Sir, I don't care about magic. Real men fight with their fists and body," Tristan said.

Seeing that the class started to get noisy, Jered became angrier, "Y-you imbeciles. Do you really think the Chief Director will continue to be patient with your shenanigans? Is that why you all acted unruly like this?"

"What did we do? We didn't do anything yet," Alfred, who was embarrassed seeing Jared's demeanor couldn't help but said.

"I will file a report about your class. Just you wait," Jered said before stomping out of the room as if he couldn't bear it anymore.

-Bam!

The room's door was smashed to bits by Jered's magic power.

"Hey Jake, did you record everything? We need that for self defense," Raven asked.

"I don't want Samuel Adenca to send more notice to my family or Ares's family for that door," Alfred said.

"Done," Jake replied shortly after he made a few backups for the video.

Class A students couldn't help but felt class zero wasn't as bad as they initially thought. None of them dare to speak up, afraid that they might get reported and punished but class zero students didn't seem to care much.

"Ares, thank you," Cedric suddenly said out of the blue.

"......" Ares was confused why he thanked him. Because he burnt Jered, who was a Djinn?

Seeing that Ares didn't say anything, Cedric didn't feel disheartened, "Here, a mana potion as a thank you from me."

Ares looked at the small transparent vial with light yellow liquid inside it.

[Ramon Holy Water]

It was a holy water from Sun God Ramon and it was more expensive than God of Death or Moon Goddess holy water.

'Why the heck did he give this to me and not Jered? He should have sprinkled this on Jered's face or just shove it down Jered's throat since a mage like Jered wasn't that strong physically.'

Seeing Ares looked hesitant, Cedric opened the  vial and showed it closer to Ares's face, "Try it. This one is quite expensive. This is a thanks from me."

"No, it's fine. My mana isn't depleted," Ares was telling the truth.

He just used a few spells so there was no way his mana could be depleted by just that. Plus, he wasn't sure why Cedric gave him the holy water.

"........" Cedric remained silent but out of nowhere he suddenly splashed the holy water directly on Ares's face.

"Hey! What are you doing?!" Jake was shocked and immediately pushed Cedric away before inspecting Ares's face.

The holy water went into his eyes and he felt like he was sprinkled with lime water. He felt his eyes burn.

Fortunately the sensation was only a few seconds, thus after a moment, Ares was able to open his eyes again but his eyes were bright red and teary. He looked like he was on the brink of crying.

"Did you feel pain? Are you ok?" Cedric asked, seemingly worried.

Ares glared at him, "I don't know if you're an idiot or if you purposely do this. Didn't you know how potent holy water from Sun God Temple is? Try putting it on your eyes and see what happens."

Cedric was stunned since he knew about it and he didn't want to do it.

"I'm sorry my hand slipped."

"What a dumb excuse," Ima couldn't help but say.

She already said multiple times, this method wasn't good and looked at what had happened.

Ares ignored him and walked away, followed by his classmates. Class A students were all looking at Cedric weirdly.

"Ceddie, why did you do that to him?" Abby was asking the question everyone wanted to ask.

"I don't know this potion contains holy water from Sun God temple and my hand really slipped when I wanted to move, accidentally splashing it into Ares's eyes."

"You're really clumsy," Abby said.

Cedric nodded his head seemingly feeling guilty but he noticed someone was staring at him intensely thus he turned around and saw Melinda was saying something to Ken who was staring at him.

Once their eyes met each other, Ken flashed a smile like usual while Melinda was looking at him as if he was an idiot.

"Hey do you want to know what they say?" Ima suddenly said.

"What?"

"That green haired girl said, if you're lucky Ares might report what you did to his grandparents and his family's assassins will come after your eyes and gouge them out. If you're unlucky, they might throw you into a pool full of dark mana."

"......." Isn't that too much? I only wanted to confirm if Ares had demonic energy in him or not.

"I already told you he doesn't. Why are you being so stubborn? You don't even believe me so why am I even here," Ima sounds frustrated.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't talk to me."
