Melinda looked delirious. However, she came to her senses when she noticed a few figures heading towards her.

Melinda heard a few faint footsteps running towards the rooftop.

A few hazy figures wearing students' uniforms quickly dragged the chair she was sitting on along with her far away from the enraged Ciel that was tied up by metal chains.

The fog around them seemed to dissipate a bit but she couldn't see anyone holding a bow or any weapons among the figures that were holding her. However, realizing she was safe, the tension in her body disappeared and drowsiness started to overwhelm her.

Later before she lost consciousness, Melinda saw an insignia at the corner of a sleeve of one of the hazy figures.

'He really came.'

Melinda never thought that one day she would be saved by someone from a family that she didn't like. She really thought she might be done for sure this time.

She could feel him picking her up in a princess carry and asked softly, "Hey are you ok Mel Mel?"

A familiar male voice could be heard at the last moment before she lost her consciousness for real.

A few minutes later, a few healers and officers arrived at the building. The building was sealed while Ciel still remained there.

Since the metal chains were  connected to his body, he couldn't move around without worrying that the seal might be broken. Ares still didn't learn how to do a full sealing yet thus that was the extent of the skill he could exert.

"So how is it? Hunting Demons and Djinns is fun right?" Samuel asked.

"........" Ares preferred to not answer this kind of question.

It was the same as asking him whether hunting Zombies were fun or not because he never understood the word fun.

The laid back Chief Director just finished fixing the academy's barrier and allowed the Espada to enter and caught all the Djinns.

Turns out, it was Jered Johnson who hacked the barrier while Ciel was kidnapping Melinda and the other Djinns were causing disturbance and chaos acting as diversions.

"It seems like they wanted to summon a high ranking demon by making Melinda act as a vassal for it," Samuel commented when he saw the symbols and writings on the floor.

"Aren't you afraid of how you should answer when the government asks you later?"

"Well, I will just go through with it. If they decide to fire me then I can just retire."

"Sounds convenient," Ares answered.

"Why dwell on the negative things when you can always think positively isn't it?"

'..........' Isn't it me that catches all the Djinns in the end? How can I think positively when the protagonist seems to malfunction for some reason?

"That's a nice snake you have there," Samuel suddenly said, pointing towards the red lizard that had been sleeping throughout the ordeals, even when Ares was fighting Selena.

"It's a lizard."

"Are you sure about that?"

'What kind of snake has four legs and a pair of bat-like wings? But is it really a type of snake?'

His pet has a weird body that looks like a snake at first glance because its four legs are so tiny and its wings are also hidden inside its skin most of the time.

Ares was tired thus he unhesitantly took a week off with a reason to rest and of course Samuel Adenca gladly allowed him to or else his grandpa might just burn this nonchalant man up in flame.

Around the same time, a group of soldiers fully equipped with armors and weapons swarmed into the academy and apprehended all the Djinns that tried to flee.

"Are you guys ok? Please don't move around while our healers are trying to remove all the lingering demonic energy around you. Those who are injured will be treated as soon as possible so please cooperate with us," a red haired man around in his 30s said.

"It's Targael! We're safe!" One student exclaimed.

Cedric looked around and couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. He was exhausted, having to fight with his hands still being handcuffed since none of the officers remembered to release it from him.

"Are you Cedric Rahell?" A man suddenly said to him.

Thus Cedric turned around and saw the same red haired man commanding the group of soldiers, currently smiling at him.

His red hair wasn't as dark as Ares and he didn't have red eyes, instead his eyes were hazel which meant he was most probably someone from Targael's branch family.

"Yes I'm Cedric Rahell," Cedric felt a rusty taste suddenly appeared on his tongue.

Seeing that Cedric looked hesitant, Leon couldn't help but smile wider, "Don't worry. I have no intention to kill you. That's just a waste of time. Since you have a pretty strong holy power, please follow me."

'You don't have any intention to kill me doesn't mean you won't hurt me.' Cedric however, didn't have any choice to not oblige and could only follow Leon obediently.

They arrived inside an empty room where a priest and a healer were waiting.

"Come here student, we will check your holy power affinity," the priest said while gesturing to him to come closer.

"Ok."

"Didn't you already know that your holy power is a blessing from Ramon?" Ima asked while feeling skeptical.

'It is better to just play along.'

"Oh it's a strong holy power from Sun God Ramon, no wonder," Leon commented.

Cedric on the other hand could feel his holy power and mana being forcefully sucked by the orb he was touching. He wanted to take away his hands but the priest continued pressing his hands to remain on top of the orb while the healer who never said a word, kept on pressing his shoulders down.

"Erghhh!" He couldn't help but groan and felt his body ache all over when his mana and holy power almost got depleted.

"Is it done?" Leon asked.

"Yep, it's confirmed that this student has an affinity with holy power from Sun God Ramon and it isn't weird considering that Sun God Ramon mostly liked blonde haired humans or elves," the priest said, ignoring Cedric who was leaning weakly on the chair in front of him.

"Oh, that sounds great. Here take this," Leon passed him a non-transparent vial.

"That's a really potent Holy water from God of Death Church, most probably produced by at least a Bishop or Archbishop. You will be in pain if you consume that since Ramon and Ereshkigal are the opposite of each other. But you won't die though. You might just become paralyzed for a few days. I can help you and the paralysis effect might be reduced to only one day," Ima said.

"........" Can I not drink this?

"I mean who told you to make trouble with their precious youngest young master?" Ima reminded me.

Seeing that Cedric didn't take the vial, Leon smiled even wider, "Don't hesitate. We're just returning a favor."

"........" I really want to reject this favor but I'm not allowed to, right?

Cedric hesitantly took the vial and consumed the holy water in front of Leon's eyes before he felt the killing intent disappeared.

"May we not meet again student Cedric and have a good day. If we ever meet again, please pray to Ramon that you will be able to continue being alive after that," Leon said one last time before walking away.

Leon didn't do anything else since Ares directly told him not to unalive or make Cedric crippled in any way.

Cedric's body started to tremble and shivered due to the pain. He was sweating and he couldn't help but let out a few groans.

The priest and the healer calmly put him on a stretcher and moved him into an ambulance.

"Be grateful they are not gauging your eyes out or soak you inside a dark mana pool," Ima reminded when he sensed Cedric feeling unfair and enraged.

"........." Fine, it's my fault this time.

*****************

A few days later, inside a private hospital.

Melinda opened her eyes and saw a white blank ceiling. The room was dead silent with only the sound of breeze coming through the half opened window.

There was Ares cutting an apple with a fruit knife beside her bed.

"What are you doing here?"

Amanda asked dumbfoundedly. Ares just glanced at her before he focused on peeling the apple on his hand.

"You're awake. It doesn't hurt anyway right?"

"...I'm fine"

Melinda raised her upper body. She felt slightly stiff and sore but it was not to the point where she couldn't move at all.

"The doctor said there were nothing wrong with your body."

"What I wanted to know now is, why are you here?"

"Visiting an employer. If something happened to you, who else is going to give me money. Why? Do you expect someone else to be here?" Ares asked.

"......" Melinda didn't know how to answer that question since she didn't expect anyone to be beside her when she woke up.  She already knew her mother was too busy to wait for her to wake up.

"No, never mind."

Melinda then stared outside of the window. There wasn't a single cluster of clouds in the clear and blue sky. The world seems particularly bright under the beaming sun.

She falls into deep thoughts. Suddenly she remembered something that made her angry. She glared towards Ares.

"You! Why didn't you tell me about that bastard Ciel?"

"Would you really believe me if I said that? You might even say to me that there's no reason for a Djinn to target you," Ares knew why Melinda was angry but who told her to believe a suspicious person that easily.

Of course being Melinda, as stubborn and prideful as she was, she wouldn't back down as easily.

"But if you tell me he's a Djinn, I will at least be more careful," Melinda argued.

"You will still go meet him right? Don't you know how insidious and sneaky those bastards are? It doesn't seem to make any difference even if I tell you since you're going to meet him anyway."

Amanda was stunned and didn't know how to retort to Ares's words.

Looking at Melinda's dissatisfied face, Ares offered something that he knew Melinda wouldn't reject.

"Take this as an apology from me. If you need any information in the future, you can consider contacting me first."

Amanda looked at the piece of paper Ares took out and gave to her. She reluctantly took the paper and read its content.

==================
Sand Armadillos Monster

Weakness: A blue spot on one of its hind legs. That blue spot was a soft tissue that wasn't covered by the Sandshrew's thick shell and skin.

Method of killing: Shoot a really sharp silver arrow or dagger into the blue spot.
=================

Melinda was stunned. She looked at Ares, "You, how do you know I wanted to find this information? Is this reliable?"

"You can try yourself whether this information is true or not," Ares obviously avoided answering how he knew what kind of information Melinda was searching for.

"Fine. There's no more debt between us so don't you ever mention anything about saving me in the future."

Melinda was too lazy to probe Ares any longer and just let her suspicion be. She also just remembered Ares was regularly going into dungeons and doing surgeries on monsters himself thus he might coincidentally found this information.

"Sure," Ares said before standing up to leave the ward room. He put the neatly cut apple on a plate and gave Melinda the plate.

"Hey, if you want any information about anyone, you can ask for my help. We the Manic are expert in this field," Melinda suddenly offered.

It seems she still has a conscience. Ares didn't reply and just exited the room.

A few moments later, Melinda's servant entered the room.

"Bring all my reference books here. Since I have some free time, I needed to study," Melinda said.

"Yes my lady, I will bring them later."

"Did my mom call when I was unconscious?"

"No my lady but the matriarch had sent extra bodyguards to watch over you."

"That's how she usually is. So is there no one else coming to visit me?"

"No since your ward room is off Iimit to anyone other than me, the doctor and the academy chief. The information about this incident is protected tightly"

"What happened to Ciel?"

"That Djinn was sent to the Terrorism Bureau to be interrogated."

"They managed to catch him alive?"

"He was sealed using the Targael sealing technique. There was no way he could flee easily."

"Tsk, he is more capable than I expected. By the way, did that guy come visit me?"

"Who is it, my lady? A few of your classmates have come to visit you including Lady Abigail and her friend Sir Cedric."

"I meant Ken. Did he visit me?"

"Yes, he visited you almost everyday and I thought he would be here today but he didn't come."

"........" How the hell I want to say thanks to that guy.

Around the same time, Ares tapped Ken who was sitting on a bench at the hospital garden, on the shoulder.

"I think she asked about you," Ares said before sitting beside him.

"No way," Ken couldn't help but laugh a bit.

"She isn't stupid you know. No matter how hazy or muddle her brain was at that time, it wasn't hard for her to know it was you who came to pick her up, especially when the message she sent to you was clear."

"Does that make any difference? She will never like me," Ken said with a deprecating smile.

Ares didn't say anything since he knew he wasn't the best to give relationship advice since he had never been in one.

But remembering the plot in the novel where Melinda volunteers to go together with Ken to scout the demonic realm in order to help the protagonist, there was a huge possibility that Ken's feelings wouldn't be one-sided for too long.

Since Ken and Melinda were side characters, it was hard to know their stories in depth but Ares knew that their relationship seems better in the future.

"Don't be discouraged too early. Just continue to support her and be nice to her. She will notice your feelings soon enough."

That's the only advice Ares could think of based on his shallow knowledge after listening to how his grandpa was courting his grandmother.

If a hot headed, reckless man like his grandpa could get his dream girl, a chill guy like Ken has a higher probability to succeed right?

After a few minutes, both of them walked away without even noticing the green haired girl crouching behind the bush with her maid.

"Oho, my lady it seems young master Ken-"

"Shut up! You can't tell anyone about this."

"Ok my lady I won't."

It was her first time seeing her young lady blushed like a normal teenager and she couldn't help but pray for the best.

'Go young master Ken! We will support you!'
