The Feral Survival System. She closed her eyes, digesting all the information she had been told. It was a miraculous device capable of letting her absorb the aioenergy of the life forms she consumed, and expend through bioenergy to strengthen her body or mutate herself with key evolutionary traight of what she's just devoured. The System measures the bioenergy intake based on lifespan time. Minutes, hours, days, etc.
This gave her reason to contemplate.
Obviously the energy she's just gained must be a fraction of what the creature had. A day's worth of bioenergy from the lizard was definitely NOT all the lifespan the creature had to offer.
Still, a days worth of energy added onto her lifespan.
"Sytem. Could I burn my own lifespan to mutate?"
The answer to her question was yes, but the System heavily discouraged it. In the top corner, she could see her lifespan. Eighty nine years. Barring being being murdered or taking sick, the already nineteen year old could live to be one hundred and eighteen years old.
Which would have made her the oldest person in the entire world. She felt a bit of pride about that, but with her future uncertain being stranded in this odd forest, she knew such a long lifespan wouldn't avail her much.
Even this strange lizard she had just eaten raw had the capability of harming her, it's sharp talons that were evolved to climb trees and dig furrows were fully serviceable in rending her soft delicate flesh.
"System. Burn ten years of bioenergy strengthen my body."
The robotic voice confirmed her choice and went silent. For a moment the woman, the woman had thought she was being screwed with, but no.
Ten years was a hefty price to pay.
Eighty nine years. Barring being being murdered or taking sick, the already nineteen year old could live to be one hundred and eighteen years old
Am I stupid? Cuz I'm pretty sure 89+19=108 Right? Pls tell me I'm not being stupid
No, you're not stupid. That's me being stupid.
I'm a writer, not a mathematician
@ItsQuarters math hard
@Ser brain no good
She was very compulsive in spending 10 years of her life to improve her body, even though she is on an unknown island and there may be many dangers, she doesn't need to sacrifice her life time.
People that always reached 100 years of age mostly regretted being alive that long, at that point in time their mere existence is actual pain. So there's no point living beyond 100
@xboxgorgo18 also since the mc can get those years back its a good investment. i mean i would also make that choice but only if i could get the years back. also yes living beyond 100 is hell for normal humans but when you get more or less an unaging body then its fine.
Thanks for the chapter
Spending 10 years is kinda reasonable especially since she can spend the time adding to her lifespan if there was no way to add to it 5 would have been better, honestly she could probably shoot for 15.
I also don't think I would ever do that unless it was absolutely necessary, otherwise I might as well gather the energy slowly.
Her logic was that she may die at any time on a mysterious island full of unknown creatures or diseases. She believed the system was showing her maximum possible lifespan instead of how long she had until she died from any means(which is actually the case) . With that in mind, with the possibility of losing her life for any reason, she felt it wasn't unreasonable to trade ten years of her life for immediate power when she could use that power to hereby increase her lifespan again.
@ItsQuarters it's true I just hope she doesn't have to do it again, but I really liked this system that can modify or evolve through mutation, I think she first needs to strengthen her senses and vision then increase her skin defense and who knows she can form claws in the hands
