The morning sun streamed through the lace curtains, painting a golden mosaic on the walls of the room. The sun's heat seems to heighten the lavender scent permeating her room.

Victoire woke up with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to delve deeper into the secrets of magic. Well... not really, she was not a morning person, never was, and never will be.

She yawned and her eyes wandered over to the book that lay on her nightstand, its pages brimming with the promise of knowledge and discovery.

As Victoire opened the book once more, she became immersed in the very foundational aspects of spellcasting. Magic, it seemed, was both an art and a science—a blend of intentions, concentration, and technique. She read about the fundamental principles of spellcasting, understanding that each spell had its unique incantation and intent.

[Ch1-Fundamentals of Spellcasting

To cast a spell effectively, one needs to harbor clear intentions. 'Intent' is like the rudder guiding a ship—it determines the direction and outcome of the spell. Coupled with a strong intention, precise concentration was also vital during the casting process.

A distracted mind could lead to unpredictable results, and unpredictable, possibly dangerous outcomes. The incantation, the words spoken during a spell, held immense significance. The correct pronunciation, inflection, and intention behind the incantation were key factors that influenced the potency of the spell.]

She read and re-read the chapter and all she could understand was that 'intent' was the driving force behind every piece of Hex, Charm, Curse, and magic that ever graced the eyes of this world. And yet, it stated nothing regarding how to boost or increase intent. So, a whole lot of babble.

The next chapter was all about the importance of wand movement, understanding that the wand was an extension of the wizard or witch's body, channeling their magical energy and intent into the spell. Each movement had a specific purpose and meaning, intricately tied to the nature of the spell being cast.

[Ch2-Wand Movement

- Circles: Represented unity, protection, and magical completeness.
- Spirals: Invoked the cyclical nature of magic, renewal, and growth.
- Lines and Precision: Demonstrated control and directed the magic with specific intent.

These wand movements are the language of magic, a dance that summons and shapes the mystical forces. The book illustrated diagrams of the movements, and Victoire practiced them with her wand, feeling the connection and power flow through her.]

So... wand movement, basically swishing and slashing of wands while using a spell. Very important, but it becomes obsolete after a spell reaches level 2 or 3. Also, wand movement is extremely important while learning a spell, without them, there isn't a proper flow of magic and therefore no proper spell effect. This one was somewhat more accurate and informative than the first chapter.

The next chapter delved into the realm of magic theory, an intricate and profound understanding of how magic functioned. These topics appeared much more informative.

[Ch3-Magic Theory

Magic is the essence that connects everything in the wizarding world. It is the unseen force that responds to a wizard's will. Theories posited that magic is drawn from the environment and channeled through into the caster's body, concentrated into the magical core that is present in a wizard's body, and then converged at the wand's tip to manifest the desired effect.

Theories also propose that emotions and intents play a significant role in shaping magic. When harnessed and focused, strong emotional fluctuations can amplify the magical output, resulting in a more potent spell. However, uncontrolled emotions could lead to erratic and unpredictable magic, possibly dangerous effects as well.

The concept of intent is further explored by the Department of Mysteries throughout the wizarding world. They emphasize that the purity and clarity of one's intent directly influence the success and accuracy of a spell. Magic is deeply ingrained in the fabric of this universe, a mysterious force that is waiting to be harnessed and shaped by those who wielded wands.]

Victoire felt a sense of... strange wonder and awe as she absorbed the intricate theories and principles mentioned in this chapter. Especially, the information regarding the Department of Mystery. In the Harry Potter series, the unspeakable appeared to be no better than ordinary scholars, or maybe worse, they did keep a tank full of brains.

The beauty and complexity of magic were captivating, to say the least. If anything, the chapter did fuel her desire to explore and unlock the depths of her potential. Her potential is bound to be better than other children her age, she was half-human and half-Veela. Fire-breathing harpies, that's what she had called them when she visited her Grandmother and the smiling looks of the Veelas that were sitting nearby had sent her shivering back to her mother.

A Veela specializes in wind and fire magic, perhaps she could master spells that dealt with these elements. But first, she needs to read this book.

Midday arrived, and the inviting aroma of lunch wafted through the mansion. Not much later, Tiffy appeared and called Victoire for lunch. She sat across from her parents, Isabelle and Hector, as they eagerly shared their day and happenings at the ministry. Of all the topics spoken, she only paid attention to one thing her mother said.

"Grandmother asked you to stay with her for the summer."

These words both scared and excited her.

During the meal, a knock on the door announced the arrival of a visitor. Dr. Thibault Leroy, a healer from Hôpital Sorcière, stood at the threshold, extending a warm greeting.

"Bonjour, Victoire. I am Dr. Thibault Leroy. It's a pleasure to meet you,"

He said, his smile was soothing, something that put her at ease. Probably a skill learned by all Healers.

"Bonjour, Dr. Thibault. It's a pleasure to meet you as well,"

She replied, reciprocating the smile.

They engaged in a conversation that touched upon her recovery, magical well-being, and the integration of her magical education. Dr. Thibault conducted a thorough examination, ensuring she was in good health and expressing delight at her recovery.

He was the one who was responsible for her when she fainted from memory overload. The healer imparted wisdom, though, it was more like nagging her about the stuff she had ta' do and not to do.

But at least he encouraged her to embrace her magical abilities and reminded her of the support and resources made available to her by the hospital. Veelas were a special favorite of the healing departments, they learned healing spells easily, especially the cumbersome burn wound healing spells.

After catching a whiff of Victoire, a half-Veela with an exceptional talent for magic, they attempted to have her start studying medicine at a young age. They were the ones who sent a potion master to teach her potioneering, something she appreciated much more than the monotonous life of the enclosed mansion.

Victoire was grateful for the potioneer's guidance, feeling a sense of knowing she was learning something instead of sitting around every day.

After bidding the healer farewell, she returned to her room, where the book on magic awaited her return. She spent the afternoon absorbed in its pages, practicing wand movements and absorbing the theories of the magical world.

Looking through the next few chapters, she got a basic summary of five new spells, lying there, just waiting for her to try them out. She randomly picked one of them and saw it through the system panel.

***

[The "Luminescence Charm" is a spell that enchants objects or individuals, causing them to emit a soft, glowing light. It's a versatile charm often used for various purposes, such as providing light in dark places, enhancing visibility, or creating a decorative and magical effect.

Incantation: Luminos Radiare

Wand Movement: The wand movement for the Luminescence Charm involves a swift upward flick followed by a circular motion.

Effect: When the "Luminos Radiare" incantation is spoken and the wand movement is executed, the charm imbues the target (object or individual) with a soft, radiant glow. The intensity and color of the light can be controlled and modulated by the wizard, making it an adaptable spell for different situations.

Procedure:

1)Clear Intent: Clarify in your mind the desired intensity, color, and purpose of the light. Focus on the concept of illumination and envision the target glowing with the intended radiance.

2)Speak the Incantation: Clearly and confidently say, "Luminos Radiare" while focusing on your intent to create light.

3)Perform the Wand Movement: Swiftly flick your wand upwards and then make a circular motion, controlling the intensity and spread of the light you wish to create.

4)Visualize the Effect: As you perform the wand movement, visualize the target emitting a soft and radiant glow according to your desired specifications.

5)Maintain Focus: Keep your concentration on the intended effect, ensuring the charm imbues the target with the correct luminosity.]

***

Well, trying doesn't hurt, does it?

Clearing her throat, she held the practice wand tightly in her hand and aimed it at her pillow. With one last cough, she performed the wand movement followed by the incantation.

"Luminos Radiare!"

.

.

.

Blank.

Nothing happened.

No shine, sparkle, or light. Her wand remained blank and so did the pillow. The spell failed but she did feel a sense of emptiness, an extremely minor one but she still felt it.

[Mana: (98.5%) (Nebulous Stage)]

Still, nobody gets a spell right on the first time. As they say, practice makes perfect. She began again, attempting a second try. Slowly, her mana began to run out as she performed the spell again and again.

As evening descended, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, she found herself mesmerized by the view of the land overlooked by the mansion. The book, now temporarily set aside, had kindled a spark within her—a spark that was rapidly growing into a burning passion for magic and discovery.

As the day drew to a close, Victoire sat by her window, gazing at the stars that emerged in the night sky. The universe seemed to whisper secrets to her, illuminating the path of magic that lay dead ahead, and she was ready to follow it.

She spent the subsequent month unfurled in a whirlwind of magical discoveries and diligently practicing magic from the Tome she had received when she leveled up. Armed with the system, and the basics of how to practice those spells, she devoted her time to learning the spells and leveling them up.

Learning the 'Luminescence charm' was hard, surprisingly hard considering that she knew the Lumos spell. It took her a week to be able to enchant her pillow to glow with a neon light, glowing like a bulb was still a faraway dream. Basically, she only managed to level it up to level 1.

The 'Aquaflare Charm' was a close second on the list, its incantation is "Aquafulgur Luminaris" and the charm conjures a vibrant, display of water action glowing with luminescent light. The light mimics the hues and movements of water, providing a captivating and visually appealing effect.

She practiced this spell alongside the Luminescence charm. She got bored performing one spell over and over again. This one was even harder to learn, considering that a water spell is directly opposite of her natural affinity.

The third spell on her list was the 'Serenade Charm', its incantation is "Melodica Sonorus". The charm conjures a magical and harmonious tune, spreading pleasant music in the surrounding area. The melody is soothing and enchanting, captivating those who hear it.

This was the third spell she mastered and it only took her two days to master this spell. Apparently, singing was another specialty of the Veela tribe. Took her a little more than two hours a day for seven days to level it up to level 3.

The Anchoring Charm was the last spell she mastered. Its incantations are "Stabilitas Tenebris" and the charm creates a localized field of magical force that temporarily stabilizes and anchors the targeted object, preventing it from moving or being easily disturbed. A useful spell but with no major practical use.

The last of the five spells, the Harmony Charm, creates a feeling of harmony in the people that this spell is cast on. A magizoologist's favorite, if this spell was known to the public. She couldn't master this spell, no matter how hard she tried.

However, mastering spells was not the only thing she did. Under the watchful eye of Dr. Thibault Leroy, the visiting healer from Hôpital Sorcière, Victoire was forced to diligently follow her prescribed regimen. The rejuvenating potions and other medicinal brews he provided were vital in ensuring her health and magical stamina. She consumed them daily, their bitterness a small price to pay for the progress she was making.

No, scratch that, its bitterness was worse than the Jalapeño pepper vodka she drank when she lost a bet to another bartender. Her throat had been under ICU watch for over a week. Blistering and nerve-wracking pain aside, she couldn't scratch the poster featuring her clasping her neck and drinking that vodka that was used to advertise that particular flavor of Vodka.

She spent the bulk of her days, in her room dedicated, dedicated to magical studies and potion studying. The walls of her room were now adorned with intricate posters featuring famous magicians, symbols, and notes, and she immersed herself in the theory and practical applications of the spells she had access to, which were the five spells in the book she got from the system.

Magic had replaced alcohol as her muse, it was the essence that fueled her days and nights. With each flourish of her wand and the enunciation of an incantation, she felt herself growing stronger, more adept. The knowledge she gained allowed her to manipulate her growing magic and grow stronger.

Amidst her scholarly pursuits, she was haunted by one good-natured invitation. She often recalled the tales her grandmother, a full-blooded Aristocrat Veela, had shared with her. The magic of the Veela—their grace, allure, and the captivating Veela song—spoke of her legacy, It was a legacy she carried within, waiting to be awakened. She only had to wait for four more years and then she would fully awaken her heritage as a Veela, not just charm or singing but the ability to spit fire and transform into a fire-breathing harpy.

Then, one day, an urgent summons arrived. Victoire was to visit the Veela Reservoir, "Oasis du Mystère Envoûtant", a place pulsing with magic and allure. It was a cherished spot where her grandmother, a full-blooded Veela, and her tribe of ethereal beings resided. This was a pivotal moment, a glimpse into her family heritage. All would have been well except for one thing, she was shaking from fear of her past trauma.

She once had called the Veelas 'Fire Breathing Harpies', which in turn had irked most of the elders in the tribe and somehow her words had traveled throughout the tribe. She wasn't welcomed in the tribe anymore and if she did, they had promised to roast her over a slow fire. Shame and reluctance welled up within her. Would they accept her now, after her insults?

She sat in her room, pondering whether to go or not. She glanced at her packed bags, Mum had stuffed a lot of stuff. Clothes, shoes, hats, bracelets, sweets, and her wand in three little duffle bags. According to her, this journey was essential for Victoire's growth. It was an opportunity to amend her past judgments, to show that she had changed.

The day of departure arrived, and she was escorted to a carriage, a carriage drawn by six giant, scaly, bone horses. The eerie beauty of these magical creatures didn't daunt her; she had learned of the uniqueness of these magical beings. They were called Thestral.

Thestrals are dark, skeletal, horse-like creatures with leathery wings that resemble a dragon's wings. They have sharp, bony features and empty eye sockets. Their skin is black and appears stretched over their bones, giving them a somewhat eerie appearance. One of the defining characteristics of Thestrals is that they are only visible to individuals who have witnessed and fully comprehended death.

This is why Thestrals are often associated with death and misunderstood as dark magic or omens due to their appearance and their connection to death. However, they are not dark creatures themselves. They are gentle, intelligent, and can be quite loyal once they trust an individual.

Thestrals possess magical abilities such as flight, and they are able to travel long distances. They are also strong and capable of carrying significant weight despite their skeletal appearance.

As she contemplated her knowledge of these creatures, the thestral-drawn carriage took flight to bring her to the entrance of the Veela Reservoir. The carriage ride was smooth, and as she gazed at the world passing by, a sense of peace settled in her heart.

The carriage tapped down on the forest floor and an ethereal, misty glow wafted into the carriage. The hauntingly beautiful melodies of Veela's song and the anticipation of the encounter filled her with a mix of nervousness and excitement.

Stepping out of the carriage, she took a deep breath and made her way toward the heart of the Veela tribe. As she approached, she felt a mixture of awe and trepidation. The grandeur of the Veela Reservoir was breathtaking, a testament to the ancient and magical heritage of the Veelas.

The Veela Reservoir is an enchanting and mystical sanctuary nestled within the heart of a lush, ancient forest. The reservoir is centered around a substantial and deep pond, its waters reflecting the verdant surroundings and shrouded in a perpetual ethereal mist, giving the entire area a dreamlike ambiance. The mist lends an otherworldly quality, veiling the reservoir in an enigmatic veil.

The water is cool and clear and is rumored to possess magical properties that are said to rejuvenate and invigorate those who immerse themselves within. Sunlight filters through the dense foliage above, creating dappled patterns on the water's surface, adding to the mesmerizing allure of the reservoir.

The Veela's laughter and melodic voices fill the air, harmonizing with the whispers of the forest and the gentle lapping of the water.

Amidst the towering trees surrounding the reservoir, the Veelas reside in charming wooden tree houses and cabins, seamlessly integrated into the natural landscape. The tree houses are adorned with delicate decorations and vibrant flowers. They maintain a sense of community, living harmoniously within this magical abode, their homes providing a place of refuge and tranquility.

Her grandmother, a vision of beauty and grace, welcomed her with open arms. Her silver hair cascading down and her eyes shimmering like pools of moonlight, she exuded a serene aura. The tribe of full-grown Veelas, each radiating an otherworldly elegance, gathered around.

"Welcome, my grandchild. My precious little Victoire."

Her grandmother spoke, her voice a melodious melody. Tears welled up in Victoire's eyes as they shared a tender embrace. The Veela tribe enveloped her in a dance of celebration, the movements fluid and enchanting. She felt an overwhelming sense of belonging, a connection to a world she had yearned to understand.

Except for the fact that most of them smoldered dangerously as they swooped around her, their eyes glinting and their hairs shimmering with a moony silver glow.

As the day unfolded, her grandmother left for an urgent conversation with Victoire's mother leaving her alone with the youngsters. They shared ancient Veela traditions, the significance of the Veela song, and the essence of Veela magic. Though, mostly they tried to con her into wearing embarrassing costumes.

Lunch consisted of fruits and berries that grew in the forest. They were sweet and juicy but the other youngsters constantly kept on pushing more and more into her platter. They wanted to watch their figures, from fukin' fruits.

The tribe was humongous, nearly a thousand Veelas lived in that reservoir along with their pets. Yes, the Veelas kept a whole lot of pets including unicorns, thestrals, kelpies, fwoopers, Griffins, Hippocampus, Hippogriff, and even horned serpents. The feisty beauty type kept the serpents though. And that was not all, they still had a whole lot of other magical creatures that she didn't know of.

She sighed in amazement, the Veelas were an amazing species. Except for the fact that they knew how to hold a grudge, they still teased her about the harpy thing. Some of the Veelas her age even transformed into their bird form and attempted to scare her only to get punched in the face, of course after the punch, they threw her into the pond.
