I looked at that notification for a few seconds. I even refreshed the page several times to see if it was real. There was no way I'd received a contract offer for my fanfic.

"Damn, it's real! There's even a place to put in my details to sign the contract." I was breaking out in a cold sweat from happiness and nerves. I wanted to run downstairs and tell my mother immediately.

I don't know how she'll react, but I want to see it.

"No, let's think about it calmly. If I sign a contract, I won't be able to keep a patreon. But... I can keep it for donations. I won't be able to offer extra chapters."

But the biggest problem is the future.

What if, in the future, they regret the contract because of copyright?

"Let's have a look." I googled all the copyright laws. And they were the same as in my old world. I couldn't use a work of fiction to make money without permission or without buying the rights.

"Damn, that's a crime. Didn't these guys research copyright laws before offering this contract?"

But I think I should sign... If something happens, the contract will be canceled, and I can continue making money from Patreon.

"With the contract, my fanfic will gain even more visibility, so I'll get a lot of readers. If the contract is canceled, I'll have many readers to subscribe to my Patreon. Much more readers than I currently have."

I continued to stare at the computer screen as I thought.

I decided to talk to a friend before signing the contract. I hadn't spoken to him once since I arrived in this world, but he was Yuki's best and only friend.

His name was Markos.

He wasn't Japanese, but someone from Mexico. He and Yuki communicated in English even though Markos knew a little Japanese.

"I'm afraid of acting strangely. I don't want him to suspect anything." I searched my memory to see how Yuki treated his friend. He was a reserved boy, even when talking to Markos.

However, he was more spontaneous and talked a lot more than usual in his presence.

So I sent him a message.

"Damn, he's sent me several messages, but I haven't answered any of them. There are even missed calls." I didn't use Yuki's cell phone once. It was almost out of battery.

"Look, he's a fan of Kaguya-sama. Good taste." The wallpaper on Yuki's phone was one of the characters from the anime.

[ Markos, I need to talk to you about something. Are you available? ]

It wasn't long before he answered me.

[ What happened, Yuki? Did those guys do something with you again? ]

Guys? Oh, them.

The image of some boys Yuki's age came to mind. They were his classmates. Three delinquents who often made fun of the way Yuki acted.

[ I need to talk to you about that website. The website that I told you I would publish my stories. ]

[ Ah, that! Did you decide to post something? It has been a while since I've visited your profile there. ]

[ I posted a new story. I wanted to talk to you about it. They offered me a contract... ]

[ A contract?! That's incredible! Isn't it great? You'll get much money if you sign a contract with them. Everything you write is better than the garbage on that site! ]

[ No need to exaggerate. ]

[ I'm telling you the truth. All right, I'll call you... Or do you want me to come to your house? ]

[ No need, just call me. ]

[ Right! ]

I closed the messaging app and waited for Markos to call me. The call came just a minute later.

[ So... Do you need help deciding whether to sign the contract? ]

"You need to take a look at what I've written first. Is your computer on?"

[ Yes, I'll open your profile. Ah, damn, the name of the novel you published. Is this a novel based on that famous anime? ]

"That's right. That's why I'm very wary of signing the contract. Wouldn't I be breaking copyright laws? I'll probably get sued if I sign the contract."

[ Hmmm... But I think it's okay. ]

"Are you sure?"

[You won't be sued or anything like that. The site will probably cancel the contract if something like this happens. ]

"That's what I thought..."

[ But this story... It sounds interesting. It's the first time I've seen a work based on another in this way. How did you think of it? ]

"... How can I put it... I think I'm a genius?"

[ Hahahahaha, you certainly are! But do it, sign the contract. I'm sure everything will be fine. ]

"I'll think about it a bit more, okay?"

[ Do whatever you want. Ah, are you going to college tomorrow? You last came a few days ago. The teachers are worried about you. ]

"Don't worry, I'll go to college." I smiled instinctively.

[I'll see you tomorrow.]

"See you, Markos."

I hung up the call and sighed. It was great to have a friend to talk to.

"But about that... I think you should sign it."
