I started writing this story in January of 2018... It started out as just a LitRPG about a male character who gets turned into a female futanari demon. It evolved from there to become a video game that was being played by a female main character. I made the pieces fit together despite drastically changing what the original idea behind the story was, but I have always felt like it felt a little... forced. After discussing with my editor, I have opted to change much of the first arc to make it so that Allie starts playing the game as a female character. This not only removes the "problematic" gay male scene (le gasp! Oh noes! Two guys having sex!), but it also makes everything flow quite a bit better. I will be uploading the edits either tonight or tomorrow along with the 2nd weekly release. I am truly curious to see what you all think of the changes and if you feel like it fits the overall theme better. Thank you all so much for your continued support! How I became the Empress of Hell has become something I am passionate about, and I am absolutely thrilled to be able to share it with you as it evolves and grows.

As long as Allie remains a female futanari demon after the corruption I'm perfectly fine with her having her pre-corruption self changed to a female angel.
That won't change. She is still gonna have her "magic demon cock."
@Roseofblades Yup!
I can see it being called problematic because of the rape, but just because it's m/m? Good grief.
Still, your story; do what you want with it.
Though may I ask if Nialla is going to receive a similar update?
Nope. Nothing problematic about Nialla. Her originally playing a male character still mirrors Allie's own typical preferences and it was Allie who did the corrupting.
I personally agree with your sentiment regarding the m/m stuff. But people's delicate sensitivities and antiquated views on what is and isn't "appropriate homosexuality" do sadly impact impact reader count.

@Roseofblades Which is annoying. Don't get me wrong, lesbian scenes are hot, but where's a bi guy supposed to find any m/m content? Or even mmf threesomes where the guys play with each other as well as the woman?
@lightdefender I completely agree. I may be a lesbian... but two guys going at it is HOT AF. Which is why I originally left the beginning the way I did...
@Roseofblades
Man that's crazy. most men, being heterosexual, aren't actually interested in homosexuality. huh, what an unbelievable concept.
now even though I personally don't care for it either, unless it's a very specific type of male on male, I can just ignore that aspect that I don't like and enjoy the rest of it for what it is. because it doesn't bother me if it's not exceptionally intrusive.
but let's not kid ourselves, it's completely understandable to not be interested in m/m, just as much as it is to be interested in it. because, it comes down to personal preference. however, spoilers, if you're talking about a majority of people, the majority of them aren't going to be interested in that. which you seem to know, as you clearly felt the need to change it.
I only feel the need to comment this because it felt a little intellectually dishonest for you to act astonished, and that it's somehow a delicate sensibility to not be interested in that, while you were having trouble getting a reader base built up.
now I may have misunderstood completely and you meant that some people were complaining about it not being the right type of male homosexuality. but that seems even more niche of a reader base to try and reach.
or you could have been meaning something else, and if that's the case I apologize.
@John764 It not being to people's tastes is perfectly reasonable, just as anything else. It doesn't fit my kinks because it was shown from the POV of a rape victim, but, eh, skim it for plot-relevant detail and move on.
But it being called "problematic" because it's m/m (and not for the rape) is a bit much. (Mind, I don't think it was problematic for either reason, because fiction.)
@lightdefender oh yeah for sure, it being "problematic" is a ridiculous statement if you mean, shouldn't exist in some people's eyes. then yeah 100% agreement with you.
but if you mean "problematic" in how a lot of people aren't going to read cuz they don't like it, well then that's just how it goes since not everybody likes it.
@John764 @lightdefender
Unfortunately, sarcasm doesn't translate well in text form. I put the words "problematic" in quotations because of how the fact it's m/m content that people are more scared off by than less-than-consensual nature of it all. Out of all the comments I've removed, the VAST majority of them were all complaints about it being m/m and made no mention of the rape in the scene.
And while I was in no way astonished at this, I was disappointed that there are still so many idiots who can't enjoy fiction for what it is without bringing their prejudices into it.
I understand that not every person is going to like everything my story has to offer. And I am not offended by people skipping certain chapters that don't appeal to them. Its when they feel the need to make homophobic or insulting comments or just leave bad reviews because they don't like one particular part that made me consider changing anything in the first place.
