Only the shielding was a viable method for him.

Despite his dwindling mana reserves, he swiftly erected a shielding layer of mana to protect his meridian.

Shield after shield materialized, flooding the area and seamlessly integrating with the ruptured sections. Only the edges were covered, as Asher didn't have the mana capacity to protect his meridian fully.

While the quality of the shields was subpar, their quantity proved sufficient to cover the damaged area. The shield was only a temporary measure. Quickly dissipating within minutes.

He had to make a second trip after recovering his mana to create some sturdy shields.

After covering the edge, He carefully surveyed the shields, analyzing their durability. The shields left in the meridian were slowly consumed as time passed. As his mana depleted, he didn't watch more as he was pulled back.

Upon returning to consciousness, Asher wasted no time initiating his breathing technique, a practiced rhythm to replenish his depleted mana reserves.

( Xinyue POV )

Xinyue, sensing his intense focus, held her questions at bay, allowing him the seclusion he required to prepare for the task ahead. But she was examining him with an intense gaze.

She felt the spiritual sense of Su Ming connecting with her brain and heard her words in her mind.

'There is no trace of any spiritual herbs I can sense in the bottle,' Elder Su said.

Though Xinyue couldn't use her spiritual sense, Elder Su had created a two way telepathic link.

'Do you think he is telling a lie?' Xinyue asked, reiterating the topic that she had repeated with Elder Su many times recently.

'You know the Spiritual Realm is locked to us, yet the boy boasts that he can access what even the most Venerable Saints can't…' Elder Su countered with her argument.

'Yeah, that was a new surprise. This new Asher keeps getting more mysterious,' Xinyue said as she focused on the Asher. His breathing pattern is unique. 'Is this a technique that he is using?' she thought but didn't raise her thought with Elder Su.

'I still think he might be someone else, and All this started on the day you felt that spirit. What if it really possessed him?' Elder Su said.

Xinyue frowned at her words, 'We already checked with the Whispershade Dewdrop… He didn't show any reactions, even when you used our most potent one.'

'But what if it was as powerful as you felt?'

Xinyue had already discussed this topic, so she repeated the same conclusion they had arrived at. 'You know he is the main heir of the Silverstar Family. His bloodline is top-tier, especially having soul affinity due to her mother. Even if the spirit was strong, we should have detected something.'

Elder Su turned silent as she already knew the answer. She changed the topic to the main reason why she connected. 'Your nose is going to bleed in a few minutes…'

'Huh, are you sure? Didn't I consume twice the amount of medicine to stay with him?' Xinyue asked as she checked her nose. She also took a handkerchief hidden below the chair.

After wiping her nose, she quickly put it back.

'You know the medicine doesn't work like that… You should have postponed the meeting,' Elder Su scolded her about her overuse.

'But then we wouldn't know he has a method to access the Spiritual Realm.' Xinyue counterargued her point.

Due to her overexertion today, her situation had deteriorated a little, and she had increased flaring of her aliment, which caused the bleeding.

Knowing she would be scolded, she preemptively said, 'We'll end it after he opens his meridian…'

There was no reply, and she felt the connection cut. Xinyue focused on Asher. A new mystery surrounded Asher, and she couldn't wait to uncover them.

She was also a little confused but didn't raise her doubts with Elder Su.

Although the new Asher felt like a completely different person, he sometimes showed his past behavior. It was only for that reason that she had accepted his words. 'But if he really can access the Spiritual Realm…'

( Asher POV )

He was on a time crunch and didn't want to feel the weakness when his meridian was without any protection. He refused to allow any distractions to impede his progress.

Once his mana reservoir had been replenished to capacity, Asher delved once more into the inner realm. He should check his heart meridian, but a wave of weakness reminded him to focus more on stability.

Coming back to the lung meridian, he quickly used all his mana to create a more sturdy shielding that would help him focus on the Heart Meridian. Leaving the heavenly lighting alone had given him a bad premonition.

After a third breathing session, he saw Elder Su coming over with a bowl of hot water. Without waiting, he delved into his inner realm.

Yet, what he beheld sent a jolt of alarm coursing through his veins. His earlier premonition came true as his gaze fixed upon the Heart meridian.

The standard area without the heavenly lightning upgrade was charred black, the crackling energy surging rampant in a different area.

For now, it was blasting at the reinforced part of the meridian. Though they were faring better. He could already see the improvement brought by the Heavenly Rivers Formation.

After a moment of confusion at the odd behavior, as it would be more effective to destroy the standard part, he realized the reasoning.

The heavenly lightning didn't like anything resisting it, so it was focused on those parts.

A sense of helplessness washed over him as he realized that a significant portion of the heavenly lightning had been lost to the relentless onslaught. At least five percent of the lightning had been lost.

With a heavy heart, Asher acknowledged the futility of his previous approach; attempting to reinforce the meridian in segments would only result in further depletion of the precious resource. By the time he used even a tenth of lightning, it would be all gone.

As he thought about the problem, he already knew he had to risk it. The time for caution had passed; now, he had no choice but to take a calculated risk.

Swiftly extricating himself from the inner realm, he returned to the world. To his surprise, Elder Su stood beside Xinyue. She generally would stay hidden and monitor them from afar using her Spiritual Sense.

Asher inwardly shrugged off the unexpected presence of Elder Su. Her actions mattered little to him, as his focus remained on the disaster in his Heavenly Meridian.

The hot water was on the table with a top lid. He could feel the gaze of both women on him as he mixed the powder in it. He even sensed that Elder Su was using her spiritual sense to examine the bowl.

He, too, was concentrating on the soup. He hadn't tested the authenticity of the soup and only had the Councilor's words for it.

There was a hint of skepticism lingering in his mind. Still, as the last of the powder emptied into the water, his anxiety eased when he spotted the familiar sight of dried vegetables floating in the mixture.

Seeing the cheap soup, he waited for the inevitable question that he would be asked. And he didn't have to wait long for it as he looked at her.

Xinyue's brow furrowed in disbelief, "Are you sure this is the correct bottle?" Xinyue questioned, her tone easily conveying her doubt.

"I'm certain," he replied evenly, his voice carrying a hint of assurance. "I got it from the Councilor." Still, he threw the Councilor under the bus.

"If you are sure… " Xinyue said but continued with a jab, "But why does it look like a cheap vender soup?"

"Yeah, the bastard who made it sure had something lost with his mind," Ashe readily agreed with her. 'Why would he defend the soup? It's better to dish out at it with Xinyue.'

Xinyue arched an eyebrow at Asher's agreement. "So, you're telling me you believe this.. soup will help open your meridian?"

"No, as I told you, the soup only provides the energy. I had to use my technique to open the meridians," Asher replied to her pointed question. "Trust me, it will work"

Elder Su, observing the exchange in silence, finally spoke up. "Indeed," she interjected calmly. "Sometimes, the simplest things are the strongest."

Asher wasn't surprised by Elder Su's words; he had felt her spiritual sense return. 'She must have sensed the Aether…' he thought. It was a relief to see doubt deflected.

Xinyue turned slightly towards Elder Su, her expression thoughtful. "Well, if you both believe it…" she said.
