Lestat could hardly stand it. The insult to his pride. Audrey hadn’t written him back. Not since he had turned Claudia. She certainly didn’t raise objections to the idea, but, for once she had not encouraged him. It was merely an experiment! Just like hers with Monsieur Benjamin Tallmadge.
He sincerely hoped Audrey would come to her senses. An experiment is what Tallmadge was, not only that, but breakable, and so brightly human.
He didn’t like sharing, at least, not Audrey. Louis could do as he wished. He was his equal, and a man. Audrey was a woman, an incredibly clever and beautiful one, but a woman nonetheless.
He wouldn’t be made a fool. They had grown up together, he had supported her financially, before she could manage on her own.
Perhaps he should arrange an infidelity for the Quaintrelle, with him, of course!
