After speaking, I supported Luna and slowly helped her up, allowing her to pass through the end of the spear along the wound.

Luna was terrified, constantly crying out in pain, begging me to stop. But this couldn't go on. As long as we didn't break free from this spear, we would never leave here. So I had to steel myself and lift her body up with all my strength.

The process was extremely brutal, appearing more cruel than any torture. It didn't matter that we were children; this was agony that even an adult would struggle to endure, enough to cause death.

It was like I was interrogating her, every time I made her move a few centimeters upward, she would scream in agony. Her cries were heartbreaking, and several times I thought she wouldn't be able to bear it anymore.

A large amount of blood continued to spray from her wound, causing her to cough up blood continuously as well. We struggled like this for a while, but thankfully, we finally managed to free her from the spear.

"Hnnh... Euhh... It hurts so much... I thought I was going to die... hnn, cough..."

"It's okay now, you did great, you're safe now, dear..."

She seemed as if she had just been mercilessly tortured, suffering immense pain both physically and mentally. Luna curled up on the ground, sobbing uncontrollably while pressing on her wound. All I could do was to comfort her continuously, waiting for her pain to ease.

After she calmed down a bit, we lay on the ground and rested for a while. During this time, the blood continued to flow incessantly, but we were too lazy to bother with stopping it. With such a massive wound, instead of seeking treatment, we were more inclined to contemplate what last words to leave behind... But strangely, we just couldn't die. Despite sustaining injuries that should have been fatal, we were still clinging to life here.

After regaining some strength, we supported each other and stood up, then took steps toward the exit and opened the doors of the chapel.

As we stepped outside the chapel, we immediately saw the full moon hanging high in the night sky. The moonlight was so strong that we could even see our shadows on the ground clearly.

The events from before felt like a nightmare, and I never imagined that I would be able to leave the chapel alive. We gazed up at the bright moon, continually confirming whether this was all just a dream.

The air outside was chilly but remarkably fresh, and I couldn't help but take a deep breath. In contrast, the chapel was filled with a thick, nauseating smell of blood, so intense that it could choke a person.

Our bodies were covered in bloodstains, and our clothes had been dyed red... As we walked, the blood on our clothes continued to slide down our bodies, it felt like we had just returned from a trip to hell.

Luna looked up at the moon and unconsciously said something that caught my attention.

"Wow... is it already a full moon?"

I pondered her words for a moment and immediately understood what she meant.

Because when the bandits attacked that night, it was the day before the full moon, but now it was indeed a full moon. This meant that we had lain on the chapel floor for an entire day until we woke up on the second night.

Though I didn't know the reason, it was clear that we weren't lucky to be alive... but rather, we were indeed dead.

The current situation had surpassed my ability to comprehend with common sense. What started as suspicion had now turned into conviction: we were alive not because of luck or because we didn't die, but because of some reason that allowed us to continue living.

We remained silent for a few minutes, and then I tried to discuss the issue with Luna:

"It's really... not quite right. Everyone else is clearly dead... why are we the only ones still alive?"

Of course, Luna couldn't answer that question either. She just shook her head, looking puzzled, and said:

"I don't know either... what does it even mean to be dead? And how long can we keep going like this?"

Although we were lucky to have survived, there was no sense of joy whatsoever. To have been out cold in that state for a whole day, and then suddenly come back to life? It sounded like a fairy tale. If it weren't for experiencing it firsthand, it would be hard to believe.

Luna and I found a place to sit down. We leaned against each other, continuing to gaze at the moon and sorting out our thoughts.

The ground we sat on was already covered in fresh blood. Although our injuries were beyond the point of being treatable, watching the blood flow continuously was rather unsettling...

After a while, I touched my wounds and asked Luna beside me:

"Um... should we go find something to stop the bleeding first?"

"Yeah... but Luna feels a bit dizzy. Maybe we should rest for a while? So much has happened, it's hard to process everything."

"Yeah... um..."

Although it was just a moment, I felt like something was off. I immediately reached out with both hands, grabbing Luna's cheeks, one hand on each side.

As I pulled Luna's face, she seemed to snap out of it immediately, flailing her arms in panic:

"Ouch ouch ouch—What's happening?! Why are you—"

I widened my eyes in disbelief, staring at something in her mouth:

"How... do you have... these two pointed teeth!? When did you get such long teeth?"

Those two teeth were particularly prominent, growing on each side of her incisors, but only the upper ones were elongated.

I was certain that Luna didn't have these teeth before. Sensing something unusual, I immediately stuck my fingers into my own mouth to see if I had the same thing.

"I... have them too... look..."

While confirming, I also showed my pointed teeth to Luna. I pursed my lower lip, allowing only those two sharp teeth to protrude from my mouth.

As Luna looked at my two sharp fangs, she couldn't help but reach up to feel her own. After a few seconds of realization, she jumped up in surprise.

"Huh...? Wha-what is this?! Did we have such long pointed teeth before?!"

Seeing those fangs immediately made me think of something. But I didn't dare to say it because once I said it, it would feel like the truth.

Luna looked at me with a mysterious expression, nervously asking, "Sister... Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"I have a guess... I think it might be..."

Seeing her expression, I could immediately tell that we were both thinking of the same thing. But besides that thing, I couldn't think of any other answer.

We both had a tacit understanding and said the answer simultaneously:

"Vampires...!"

I scratched my head and glanced at Luna, asking, "...So, you think that aswell?"

She responded with a matter-of-fact tone, "If that's the case, it would explain why we're not dying, right? Because we're not human, so of course we wouldn't just die like that."

"In theory, yeah... But... I don't believe in vampires. Even though it's a pretty famous urban legend, I think it's just something adults made up to scare kids," Luna immediately countered my argument with the most compelling evidence.

"But now we are vampires ourselves, so I guess disbelief isn't really an option anymore, huh?"

"Even if that's the case, who could have turned us into vampires? It's said that those bitten by vampires turn into vampires... but have we been bitten by anyone?"

Luna shrugged helplessly, replying, "I... I don't know... Neither of us has been bitten, right? ...Oh! Wait!"

Her tone shifted suddenly as she pointed at two bite marks on my neck.

I felt the bite marks on my neck and immediately remembered that it was caused when Luna, still half-asleep, bit me suddenly. After figuring out the reason, I quickly explained, "Come on, you did this. You even drew quite a bit of blood from me at the time. Don't you remember anything?"

As soon as she realized it was her doing, she panicked and apologized, "Oh... Oh, really? I'm so sorry! Luna wasn't fully awake at that time... I completely forgot."

My words might have sounded like a joke, but Luna knew I wouldn't joke about it in this situation, so she didn't bother to confirm and immediately apologized to me.

I just waved it off, gesturing for her not to worry too much, "It's okay, I don't mind. After all, you were unconscious at the time... Uh..."

I hadn't finished speaking when Luna suddenly exposed her neck, wearing a mischievous smile, and said to me, "To show my apology, why don't you take a bite too, sis? It could be a memorable first experience. But... be gentle, okay?"

I wasn't sure whether to first comment on this ambiguous remark, but I immediately waved my hand and declined her, "Don't... don't joke around! Weren't we just normal, ordinary people before being killed? Who would believe we're suddenly vampires?!"

It was a reasonable doubt on my part. After all, we were perfectly normal humans just half a day ago, and now discovering ourselves as vampires? Even if it were true, I couldn't accept it mentally.

But Luna wasn't backing down, countering my argument with the evidence right in front of us, "But... this is the truth. If we were human, wouldn't we have died from these injuries? And these fangs don't seem like something humans would have, right? And..."

Luna touched her stomach, her face flushing with a hint of shyness as she looked at me.

"Maybe it's because of becoming a vampire, Luna has... started to find blood a very delicious thing. Sister, you really don't feel anything at all?"

"Well..."

Just then, my stomach betrayed me with a slight growl. Though not very loud, in such a quiet setting, it was unmistakable...

Seeing this, Luna once again offered her neck, generously urging me on, "Sister, your stomach must be hungry too, right? Don't hold back anymore, whether or not we're vampires, just try it and see, okay? Consider it compensation for biting you earlier."

Since Luna brought it up... then... maybe... it should be okay if I take a bite, right?

With that thought, I found myself licking my lips and swallowing hard.

Strange, what is this exhilarating excitement to try? Could it be that the thirst I felt earlier was my body seeking the impulse for blood? No... that's not right, I don't want to drink blood at all, I'm definitely not a vampire!!
