Ah! Aythryn City. Truly a mess of neon and trash all supporting the psychopaths that live here. Desire is the name of the game in such a bright place, as anyone on the streets can verify. Whether it be the gangs roaming the streets, the corpo rats in their tall towers, or the people just trying to get by; everyone wants something.
Then enter me: a poor thief turned investigator just to make enough for end’s meet. Or at least, that’s how it was supposed to go down. Now though? Now I’m caught in several shit storms between stealing from one of the Big 7 to a weird interface telling me what to do. I just hope I can survive long enough to get out of this cursed city with enough Rayn to make a better life.

Outrun will be a long run, heh, with plenty of post-apocalyptic/cyberpunk world building sprinkled in.
Writing this to give this story some visibility.
If you like Cyberpunk or Shadowrun give this one a read. The protag starts at the bottom for sure and the author makes her earn the progression she gets; everything has a cost. The side characters all feel like they have their own motivation for doing things too which helps the world feel real. It's also got a unique spin on a lot of familiar genre tropes.
This was 62 chapters (re?) uploaded all at once like a novel and it honestly reads like it too. The pacing feels well tuned and the writing feels like its been edited for flow and grammar. That the most noticeable errors are some missing page breaks between scene transitions speaks highly of the quality.

I'm... surprised this doesn't have more reviews. Outrun is quite a good story, especially if you like Cyberpunk. It's also quite an interesting take. Every Cyberpunk I've read leans hard into murder hobo and becoming a god of combat. This takes a different approach, which is really refreshing. There are a bunch of small arc long mysteries at foot with longer book long ones hidden with sprinkled details here and there. It's been a really interesting read, and I highly rec it.

Love the world-building, love the slower (than typical) power growth, love the slight "Lord of the Mysteries"/horror vibe. The theater infiltration was just chef's kiss. Very well done, I just know I'm going to love the future chapters as well.

It's a enjoyable Cyberpunk inspired novel. It's mostly investigation focussed and although that normally isn't my piece of cake, I find this novel to be a enjoyable read.
