Caught as a little kid hacking into a corpo server, Evelin Vance was forced into indentured service.
Disposable and "employed" by New Hope LLC to penetrate the security of other corporations, usually by dangerous and less than legal means, one day, she is sent on a mission that is a lot more dangerous than expected.
With her head just above water, Evelin struggles beneath the weight put upon her, at least until the world decides her job is done. After getting attacked, mauled, bludgeoned, and bruised, she awakens as a samurai.

Most Cyber-Punk literature, of which Stray Cat Strut is one, has the “Corpo” (Corporations) as the Evil/Despot side of humanity. This story is no different and explores a woman who is indentured on a contract with vile people holding the leash. The woman becomes a Samurai; someone who is empowered to fight the ongoing Alien Invasion.
Now we have a person who had NO power as a slave, suddenly have enormous power. What will she do?
Style: The story is pretty much First Person. Friends and love interests are introduced as the story progresses and fairly consistently. The POV does switch a bit, but not often.
Story: The story has a good catch and the pacing is good. Lots of action that doesn’t get too bogged down. The MC does dip into the Evil side herself as she straight up murders people. So far she has no problem with this. Can she balance her Good/Evil sides?
Grammar: So far I’m pleased that the grammar is excellent.
Characters: The MC is very nicely fleshed out with an underdog’s attitude and tons of baggage. She winds up as an Anti-Hero. The Corpo characters are nicely evil with no redeeming traits; we don’t miss them when they get their rewards. The side characters are not as well constructed, but that could change in future chapters.
I’ve enjoyed this and look forward to more chapters.

Story is great overall with a good rythm and a fun protagonist, whos had a less fun life leading up to the start. Overall good pacing that switches between action moments to mundane fluff with an even pace. Probably plays into the cyberpunk parts of the story better than other SCS universe stories, although the usage of a European setting is slightly wasted on it feeling just like America.
Does contain more killing of humans than other SCS fics, which feels well adapted into the story and the main character does a good job of solving problems without points.
The biggest problem that brings me down to a 4/5 is that conversations often feel slightly stilted and unnatural. But not to a degree that would bring me out of the story.

This is a fun, quick read, for how long it is. It is pretty fast-paced, and handles the plot beats and character growth well. If you like Stray Cat Strut, you will probably enjoy this. The MC has a nice bundle of trauma and a fair amount of revenge to get through, so the plot has a good direction to follow going forward.
Fair warning, though, the grammar and spelling is a little rough the whole way through. It was not bad enough to be a serious readability problem.
