Synopsis

Adam Anderson’s world turned upside down after an accident landed him in a society where women ruled. Waking in the hospital, he found himself inexplicably married to his estranged childhood friend, Claire, a woman weighed down by a secret.
But Claire’s secret came with a price. One that gave Caterina De Luca, Boston’s ruthless Mafia queen, the perfect excuse to force her way into Adam’s life.
With Caterina tightening her grip and his marriage crumbling under the weight of unspoken truths, Adam faced an impossible choice: resist, or surrender to the woman who would stop at nothing to claim him.

Women out number men 3:1 in the new world.
This story is set in the same world as Finding a Yandere in Reverse World. You do not need to have read that story at all to enjoy this one.

[SPOILERS: THIS REVIEW HAVE MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR UPCOMING CHAPTERS! READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION] (March 20th update)

    Overanalyzing femdom smut:

RSM has always been a fantasy. A fetish of a genre, where the sociological and societal standards & gender norms have been flipped. The "masculine" becomes the "feminine", and the "feminine" becomes the masculine. Gender reversal as a concept holds much potential and just on its basis can hold vast amounts of potential. After all gender roles within society are often "... Values and attitudes are shaped by socialization within a certain cultural context. Empirical research suggests that parents socialize their children according to their cultural beliefs, values, attitudes and behaviours" (1) however in most cases it is, as said, used mostly for fetish. Which I should note is perfectly okay mind you. We all engage in fantasies that cater to our specific niches.

However, I will admit I find myself sometimes disappointed that some fics don't fully explore the concept. Of course, there's been a few that have caught my eye over the years such as "Wisher Beware", "Let Me In, Even If Just to Bore Me" and more published works such as "A Brother's Price".

That being said, not everything has to be. A fetish is a fetish after all. And that's where "The Mob Queen Wants to Claim Me for Herself (In a Reverse World) " by Astro_lust comes in. I first encountered Astro's work when I came across his superhero fic of the same genre. It stuck out to me mostly due to it being rather competently written as most fics of this specific genre tends to be rather... limited. Most are written similar to Light novels meaning their prose is rather stilted, limited and boring or machine translated. Not exactly appealing so it was to my surprise that I had discovered a decently written fic in the genre. I of course binged his other works of varying quality but still rather entertaining.

Then, he posted a new fic, that'll I'll shorten to Mob Queen and at the start, it appears it would be of similar quality to the rest with the same tropes and what have you. The MC, Adam is isekai'd in the world of his (apparent) dreams as he ends up in a world where the genders have been flipped. After a few days mind you (Adam is kind of slow but it's somewhat endearing). Adam finds himself in a hospital confused up, after this world's version of him winds up raped. (We will get to this later and how s*xual assault plays a role in the story both as a fetish and as plot device).

So, I plan to structure this review based on key events and vibes: Rather than going over every little thing, I'll tackle a few that have stuck with me or moments that I thought was prevalent that are representative to similar events that happened. I don't plan to go into every character or every event cuz I don't got time for all that.

    The Clairillionaire!?

So, in Chapter 3, we learn from Adam's sister Jessica that he ended up in the hospital due to a violent s*xual assault. s*xual assault within the context of this genre can be a discussion in and of itself but obviously in this context it is used to facilitate a specific niche of femdom. In this case it used for setting up for numerous events but I want to highlight Adam's reaction here because this will play a role and contrast his later reactions to the s*xual assault: "I mean, I'm not the type to say a woman can't rape a man, but this is unexpected. Being gang raped by women? That feels a bit odd.'". The dissociation, even if he himself did not experience it correlates with many specific ideas, we have about gender in that the idea that men being raped doesn't seem as bad or horrific as it would a woman. And again, this will serve as a good foundation going forward. It would only be in the next chapter where he would be drugged and s*xually assaulted by Catarina the titular main female lead and his reaction to it was, given everything rather nonchalant. (which speaks a lot about Cat's character)

But let's skip a few chapters ahead to Chapter 6 where the truth is revealed about Adam's wife, Clare, selling him to her boss Catarina De Luca for 400, 000 dollars to pay off her gambling debts due to her staggering addiction. While one of many this would be one of the main catalysts to events to come so we can all thank the Clairillionaire for the suffering that Adam will go through (and Bionicle's). Skipping ahead to the Claire focused chapters 13-16, we learn just how staggering this addiction is as after selling her husband she finds herself spiraling back at the casino ruminating through self-pity and dopamine. This reaches near reprehensible levels when it is revealed that it was Claire that initiated the original assault against Adam: "Okay, okay!" I sob, words tumbling out in a desperate rush. "It was me. After I asked Adam to be your lover for four months, he said no and stormed out of the house. I needed money bad, I thought you were going to kill me, so I set up a backup plan."

An utterly reprehensible act to do to someone you claim to love but that's a prevalent theme in the story. Addiction of any kind is hard to handle as they are extreme psychological dependencies that are maladaptive as the neurological state and brain is literally altered meaning that, "... have considered it as an obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder and a 'behavioural' addiction." (2). Get help Claire, become the true Clairillionaire!

Adam, the MC or that really dumb guy (He's completely in over his head) :

I will say that my perceptions of this fic 'not just being a fetish fic' started to shift around Chapter 6 and 7, and with that in mind let's talk about our main character, Adam. Adam is kinda dumb. But that's okay! Cause that's the point and I feel is pretty justified. As you see, Adam is just a guy. So, let's go over all the sh*t that Adam, a regular guy of I'd assume average intelligence, has gone through:

    • Dies (hasn't really dealt with the trauma of that yet has he?)
    • Wakes up in hospital with a woman claiming to be his wife
    • Was s*xually assaulted so violently he wound up in the hospital (even if he didn't exactly experience it)
    • Is then drugged and s*xually assaulted again
    • Wife is a gambling addict and sold him to her boss
    • Boss beats (going beyond femdom and entering uncomfy abuse territory even) him and s*xually assaults him again and threatens him constantly
    • Is constantly looked at and perceived as a less a person but rather an object with the only woman not doing so being his sister
    • Sees the woman he was sold to torture another person
    • He then escapes only to be found his friend and his girlfriends and mom (who s*xually assault him after repeatedly saying no)
    • Woman is killed right in front of him, blames himself now his best friends life is being held at a figurative and literal gunpoint

Is tortured again to the point of being disabled and likely never getting the full use of his hands again as of the recent chapter. You see, it's easy for us as readers to look at Adam and go "what the hell is he doing so lame!!" but I think intentional or not, Adam is actually a brilliant MC from a meta perspective, within the context of RSM. He loves femdom and reverse rape but when actually faced with the realities of this these things what it means to the extreme, he slowly begins to falter. He said so himself in Chapter 21 where he says: "Cat, " I say, my voice wavering as I struggle to maintain my focus through the pleasant sensation of her mouth on my skin, "I'm not confident I'm cut out to handle this kind of life."

Turns out he was right. If there is anything to truly shows the dichotomy between Adam in chapter 1 up to chapter 34 is these two quotes:

"Anyway, you gotta check out this new story. It's got everything moth girls, caterpillar girls, reverse rape. It's peak as f**k, dude."

"Sounds like my kind of story, " I admit. "I'll give it a look tonight." (Chapter 1)

    V.S

    'I hate her.'

The casual cruelty of her words, spoken with such affection, breaks something inside me. "Cat, you're a monster. (Chapter 34).

I think when Adam says this he also refers to himself. He hates her, and yet I'm sure some part of him still finds himself attracted to her and he despises that. At least that's my take in my head

In Chapter 34, we see Adam at his lowest. The loss of limbs is the epitome and ultimate culmination of his loss of autonomy that he has been experiencing this whole story without fully realizing it. And he has come to the unfortunate retaliation that he is seemingly trapped on all sides. So, what does Adam do? Does he succumb to Cat full embrace Stockholm Syndrome? That seems to be the only option left to him but I don't know, Adam is a lot of things, but I don't think he will be willing to give up everything to Cat? What small acts of defiance could he get away with and would he even be willing to try after everything?

If anything, I hope to see Adam make a comeback and will it be the Clairillionaire that helps him do it?

We'll have to wait and see.

Catarina De Luca: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in." (into Bioncle Lore)

Let's talk about, in my eyes, the most interesting character, Cat. She's a monster. The end

But well obviously it's deeper so allow me to do a little a short over analyzation of a femdom fetish character pls. Cause Cat is a bit more than just regular yanderes come across as she actually manages to invoke a certain level of unsettling dread within me, similar to Homelander or Omni-man. The feel or vibe or energy that this mask that she has can slip at any moment and kill who she wants at any given moment. Most yandere I've read don't typically invoke this feeling. Let's see what she does that makes her different.

When we first see Catarina she introduces herself as Claire's boss. But her overly friendly demeanor and lingering gestures suggested that she had an interest, a mission even to obtain Adam. But she's a professional for and foremost, she won't let that mask slip (usually) there's no need after all. She owns this city, its people. Using money and violence and manipulation and Adam is no different. Everything is a transaction, even people. Even love. And unfortunately, Adam is no different. She worships Adam, but enough to not want to not abuse and hurt him. Bad guys get ouchies after all.

She loves and reveres Adam, but a product is a product at the end of the day. A pet is a pet and pet's must be disciplined. That's the paradox of the abuser. They claim love yet they do the very opposite of that. Normally I'd argue that the abuser doesn't actually love them but in Cat's case and by the standards of the genre she truly does. So, what's going on?

To understand this, we have to talk, Bionicle's. Nah for real. She fell for him cuz of that aint that some sh*t. If you want a bad bit*h talk about Mata Nui and the 6 Toa and they will line up for you. Seriously though from my perspective, this is the catalyst for everything.

Why was this the thing that got Cat wet for Adam? Caterina is a part of a mafia, a brutal criminal organization that engages in criminal activity from exploitation, murder, trafficking and more. Likely from a young age she was groomed to be the next leader of the De Luca Family. What possible effects would this have on a person, a child? Usually, "clientelism and corruption, familism, patriarchy (matriarchy in this case), and lack of trust" (3) condemns the child to a life of indoctrinated violence. This violence becomes standard, a means to an end, as easily as you can breathe. PTSD develops and untreated can lead to a malaise of the mind. Aggression and depression become commonplace where empathy and compassion otherwise should be. Relationships themselves become transactional as they simply do not know any others means to interact or understand a person outside of that mindset. You see this in how she uses her own body as a commodity for Adam. Lovebombing him with affection and expecting it back in equal measure. Leading to less sweet and more unnerving instances in which she is overly affectionate in situations where ought not be. This is all she has to show her love. She does love him. But it's empty not that she means to, but she knows another way.

In Cat you see a woman devoid and hollow, missing something that should have been there either from birth or her circumstances. She wants love but she doesn't know how. She wants innocence and she sees that in Adam, a man who wasn't scared of her, simply making a stupid comment. But for someone like Caterina De Luca, that comment and by extension Adam is a representation of what she thinks she needs, twisted as it is. Caterina is a monster, and she knows it, but she hasn't completely made peace with it, otherwise she wouldn't have sought out Adam at all. A parody of humanity.

In Chapter 34 she says: "Yes, " she agrees, her voice a silken whisper as her fingers continue their gentle exploration of my face. "But I'm your monster, Adam. Forever." I believe this statement only applies as long as she thinks Adam will come to love her in time, and maybe the Stockholm will do the trick, but I wonder how she would feel about that sentence if Adam told her he hated her?

    Probably not.

After all, Good Boys don't say such mean things. (or get hammers)

    That's my take anyway.

TLDR: Good, yandere, good fetish story, loser. 2/10-IGN needs more water

[OLD/Marc 13th First Impressions] So far, not only a really good example of the Reverse Morality/Matriarchy genre with every caveat you'd expect from it. All of that is well done but I also quite enjoy the character drama that is being cultivated in the story as well.

I truly do think this genre has potential outside of its initial holdings as a just a fetish. Which is great by itself, but I also enjoy when authors take the conventions of genre, what it would actually mean to live in a world like this and take it seriously aside from just the s*x and domination and I think this might be one of those one's that do it justice.

It's still early so we'll see how things go but for now solid 4-4.5 out of 5. Hoping it goes all in, with all that entails.

Compared to Astro's first novel "Finding a Yandere in reverse world" which is still my personal favorite Yandere romance novel of all time, this one was very depressing and infuriating to read.

Depressing because we see in full naked horror about how an actual Yandere goes to extreme psychotic lengths to possess her lover.

Infuriating because the MC here cant really do sh*t about when he gets destroyed in the process

The Yandere here is a bit different from Astro's other stories bcz here she actually harm, torture and destroy the mental state of the mc

Its kinda like a reverse mindbreak novel where the MC loves her for it. Mindbreak, not being my cup of tea but I cant help but finish reading Astro's novels because the quality is just so high, the dialogue, the humor and the characters are so full of soul and well written then you cant help but binge it.

I was actually going to give it full 5 stars if the MC actually died in the end. Dont like Tragic endings but here I was hoping for it because that bit*h Yandere didnt deserved the MC. Dont get me wrong, the Yandere here is so better written and has more soul than 90% of the stories out there but I absolutely f**king hated her for how much she destroyed the mc's body and his mind through drug addiction and bloody torture.

In my opinion the story would have been a lot better if the MC didnt came back to life with a bs plothole and should've stayed dead so we could see what the Yandere here truly deserved.

    Hello all.

To organise this review I will rate followings 5 criterias

    Character

    Dialogue

    Setting

    Story

And the most subjective one. Style.

Character is peak. They might be sometimes inhuman in their cruelty and a bit caricatural. But they all act as they should be acting from how they were portrayed. Its all coherent in universe. A mob queen is evil. She's evil and will operate on her moral compass.  The MC is traumatised and will not be winning.

Dialogue : this is where the story peaks, they talk like real people. The Dialogue is extremely funny, absurd and yet you have that ever living dread clinging to the seting.

Setting : this is a horror story disguised as a comedy.  Its brilliant.  Its a reverse world but here its not a power fantasy for horny teens, no its a proper horor yandere story. Its hard to read and dreadful. The humor just reinforces this dichotomy. She is a monster made flesh.

The story, is where this story is a bit weaker. As in theres no real plot its a slice of life. The plot is surviving. It's kinda a romance novel but really its horror.

Style : its f**king good compared go what you will see on non professional novel. Its not professional level and does have its weak points, but the weiting style makes the horror component slowly creeping up and ever present.

Good read (ps I read on an other site)

This was a hard read. The quality is good in the sense that the grammar, syntax, and plot progression are solid. Unfortunately (for me at least) it's marred by the extremely unlikable characters, none of whom ever seem to learn anything from their (many) mistakes.

Honestly, there was a clear point in the story past which I should have walked away (if you read it, you'll know), but morbid curiosity about how the situation would resolve itself kept me going. Sadly, the resolution was mostly just frustrating and depressing, not what I would have hoped for from a romance, even a "yandere" one. From what I can gather this is the harshest of the author's stories, so maybe I'll try his other works to see if they're more palatable, but I can't really recommend this one unless your idea of a good time is a mildly block-headed MC who is made to suffer over and over and comes back for more. If it is though, Then you'll have a rip-roaring good time. It's definitely more of a tragedy than a romance

This fiction that you created is very interesting. There is a lot of good points that I've enjoyed. And even the points where I felt negative it's mainly just the visceral parts of the story that are hard to take. I really enjoy how you actually go in depth into the characters who they are why they're interacting with other people the way that they are. Ultimately I just wanted to say I think you're doing a really good job keep up the good work

I managed to finish the first volume even after you (@Astrolust) caused me new trauma.

Let's go. The story is incredibly good, a very dark plot, Stockholm syndrome, etc. It's a very well-written story. The character development is great, but the world's development from what I've read is a bit below par (maybe because you're still focusing on the characters). The dynamics between the protagonists are really fun to follow, and I found Caterina to be an incredible character. A few other things bothered me. Like Adam being kind of slow or stupid, and it took him a while to realize what kind of world he was in. The s*x scenes are well-written (damn chapter 18 Astro), and I didn't think they hindered the development of the plot or turned the story into a hentai.

The secondary characters are very captivating, and I hope they are further developed as the plot progresses. For some reason I feel a certain chemistry between Lara and Adam, and it would be interesting to see a love triangle between them. Especially since she is crazier than Caterina. I also can't help but be bothered by the fact that you practically forgot about Adam's sister after the first few chapters.

That's it for now, if you like a dark story, don't have a problem with blood, torture, etc. Then this story is great for you. As I read the next volumes, I'll change my review if I think it's necessary. Good luck to whoever reads it, I hope you like it and be very careful with chapter 18.
