When the sword awakens, it has slept so long that it's forgotten everything except hunger. It is a weapon made to feast on death and blood. The more bodies that it leaves in its wake, the stronger it gets. Bloodstained Blade is a fantasy gamelit/litRPG, where the main character is the blade, and not the person wielding it. So, while the wielder of the blade won't always survive, another man or monster will pick it up so that the Ebon Blade can continue to relentlessly pursue its own goals no matter the cost.
