Once upon a time, there was a generic fantasy world. It had wizards and knights and dragons and castles and elves and what-not, as well as serfs and famines and magical venereal diseases and all the stuff they wouldn’t put in the brochure. But that was a long time ago, and this is not that story.

Things moved on. Progress happened. Wizards figured out how to use magic to make engines and trains and factories and great ships that soared through the air.

Then even more progress happened and, eventually, the descendants of those first airships slipped the bonds of gravity entirely and within fragile shells of conjured air intrepid explorers ventured out into the great dark beyond.

Only, instead of lifeless barren worlds and lonely stars, they discovered that they were far from the only fantastic world to realise you could do more with magic than set swords on fire, and that the galaxy was a busy place, filled with innumerable Voidships that plied the darkness between suns.

Mishka’s people went further, and figured out how to travel the galaxy without even the need for crude vessels to limp between systems.

For Mishka, light years are like miles, and the endless expanse of new worlds, primitive aliens, and monsters offer a colourful and vibrant distraction from the home she can never return to, and the people who will never stop chasing her.

What to expect:
