"Judge for yourself whether it's true or false."
Anthony's younger brother, Evan, has been in and out of hospital with a serious illness. On 1 April, Anthony tells Evan a lie to cheer him up: 'Oats the owl has escaped from its cage in Central Park.' Seeing Evan's genuine happiness at believing it, Anthony felt guilty.
On his way back from visiting Evan, Anthony helps an elderly man who has collapsed in Central Park. The man offers to grant him one wish in return. Wanting to spare his brother further suffering, Anthony wishes for 'today to never end'.
From then on, Anthony endlessly repeats 1 April.
This marks the beginning of his entanglement in a vast conspiracy surrounding time.
