Brail Luffas, a woodchopper, turns survivalist when his village fell under siege by a tide of magical beasts. Now he finds himself stranded in the Northern Frontier of Haroon. The forests and mountains of Karsa do not welcome him or his fellow survivors. With the beasts temporarily gone, it is now up to Brail to help lead his little band of survivors out of the desolate village of Green Pine.
