The caldera is a forsaken land, where nature is so sinister and vicious that the presence of life is all but erased. Fire, ice, acid, poison. Consumed by their own shadow, the northern mountains are filled with raw and devastating magic. The power to ruin empires in a day, and annihilate spirits in an instant.

It is a forbidding place that every culture knows to avoid, but the history of the place is young, and there are those who have yet to comprehend just how far reaching the danger is.

Straying too far, a girl crossed the border and enters the black desert in the dead on night. One disaster after another rains down on her, and she pushes herself to her limits in order to avoid them. Until she can't. One storm strips away a part of her that she cannot do without, and she is force to make sacrifices. Facing insurmountable obstacles and crisis without reprieve, a leader is forged. When burned with every element in the world, and tried for every avenue of life, where does one begin to trust?
