Synopsis

Five years ago, everything good in his life was ripped away in Jonathan's life. He was dragged into the depths, for the crime of doing the right thing. After enduring unimaginable suffering, he’s back, but he won’t rest until everyone who’s wronged him has been made to pay. Letter of The Law is a fantasy story that is both a coming-of-age tale and a revenge story told in two intertwining parts (labeled ‘Now’ and ‘Then’) that explore both who Jon is now and what led him here. New chapters every Tuesday.

Letter of the Law is several things at once that come together in a well-crafted read, but it is most certainly for a very niche audience.

First and foremost, it is a traditional vigilante revenge western with fantasy tinge.

It also takes a step back from the revenge tale to show a coming-of-age story that shows you exactly why the protagonist became who they are in the present.

Finally, it puts some time aside to drive home a cultural and ethnic gap between two groups.

For more specifics, fight scenes are done mostly excellently focusing more on motion than thought and writing quality as a whole is very high, but the few mistakes manage to take you out of the experience.

Jon's abilities are believable and potent enough to put him a step above most other people while still leaving him vulnerable, but he never comes off as pathetic with his current abilities and generally feels intelligent and clever if a bit hidebound at first.

The plot is easy to follow and it personally comes off as an engrossing read that keeps me interested and going to read the next chapter.

Overall I would recommend you read it anyways, as the worst thing it can do is make you lose time.

Seriously, I wish this novel got more interest.

Regardless, I hope anyone reading this review has a nice day.
