A benevolent technopriest wakes from cryosleep to find he has been stolen from his divine guardian. Having grown up in an isolated system, he seeks answers about his missing home while trapped in a galaxy which, despite having been nursed by the same custodian, seems to have adopted reckless greed has its dominant ideology.

A prototype, touted as the first sentient artificial intelligence not violating galactic law, gets kidnaped by mercenaries. Lacking supervision, it starts questioning its own nature as strange fragments of memories begin to surface.

Ships, stations, and entire planets are being wiped out by an invisible force. A detective, contracted to find a missing prince, discovers that the two may be related as her search uncovers conspiracies made by those who shape the galaxy.
