      Status: chapter 1: the mansion

Nice descriptive opening scene. Nothing special or off about it, but it felt almost boring. One noteworthy aspect of this would be how the story ended. And I would understand why the author might let the opening scene be lukewarm, just so we readers would let our guards down, as the story progressed.

I'd expected the unexpected, but it still made me stop on my tracks. "WHAT?" I couldn't help spilling out in my mind, especially around the time when

      Spoiler

Rachel woke up, to getting back to the car. I'll be honest, I did ponder whether she'd entered another dimension or even time-travelled.

Which left me spooked and I appreciated it very much!

The pacing was good. It aligned very nicely with the characters and their relationships with one another, but gave the reader a chance to ponder about them, their misinterpretations and misunderstanding with one another. Tied very deliciously with the plot!

      Spoiler

One thing I don't understand is why the mansion was up in flames while the blue sedan was on its way out. Did the father do it? Why, when he did not remember anything?

Personally, a good mystery makes one constantly ponder about multiple possibilities, I believe. So, when the author delivered on that, I was slightly surprised and sad that the story ended in just one chapter...

Anyways, thank you for writing this delightful gem, author Fluoroantimonic! It's a diamond in the rough, and I'd absolutely recommend others to read it too!

Some grammar and punctuation marks do need to be fixed. Silly mistakes, almost typos.

The beginning felt a little slow. The ending felt more rushed. Like I was bulldozed by a bunch of information that felt so out of place. And there were various information throughout the story that would've been fine, even if they weren't there in the first place.

This is the reason my review has 4 stars.
