For KZX-08, life is meaningless. Not even on the obscure metaphysical level. The only thing that they can work for is bare survival: to scavenge the Earth for another day's worth of energy is all that they can call a purpose. Smoggy skies over fallen skyscrapers filled with rust and disrepair are the only thing left of the burgeoning civilization that once called its tiny blue marble home, and now the thousand or so surviving scavengers squabble amongst themselves for food, power — all of that.
Yet hope is not lost. (Not forever, at least). It's just, in retrospect... KZX-08 can certainly say that her hope came in an unexpected form: a starving, transgender, vampire-witch-catgirl tackling them out of nowhere.
