What would you do if you suddenly realized you were destined to be an antagonist in a novel?

What if the fates had conspired against you, placing you in the role of an antagonist in a novel? A role that no sane person would have chosen for themselves.

If you found yourself in such a predicament, would you try to save yourself and those around you from the impending doom that seemed to loom on the horizon, or would you ignore the red flags and live a carefree life, hoping that everything would work out in the end?

I used to tell myself that if I was ever thrown into such a situation that I wouldn't care at all. I would live my life as how I saw fit and do what I pleased. In a world like that, no one mattered except me because none of it was realm.

But oh how wrong I was.

Life has a strange way of throwing curveballs at you, especially if it has decided that it wants to mock you for your incompetence and conceitedness.

I was four when I regained memories of my past life and realized that I was inside a novel. Like many others, I used to read page after page of both isekai and transmigration stories to escape my actual life.

What I hadn't expected was that I would actually become a character in a novel myself.

Like most typical and cliché youth novels, the plotline revolved around a regular girl attending a school for the elite and wealthy and then falling in love with the handsome and troubled male lead.

And what is a slice-of-life school romance novel without the infamous villainess who would stop at nothing to break the couple up.

And me? I was none other than her best friend, her confidant, and most trusted ally. I was the leader of her entourage, her number one follower, I was Faye Cotheran.

And at the end of all these types of novels, the villainess and her friends end in tragedy and despair with their families in ruin.

But wait!

I don't want to be anyone's follower, nor do I want to end up with that terrible fate. I had a responsibility to myself and those around me to try and change the course of events. I will do everything in my power to ensure that neither myself nor my loved ones end up in tragedy or ruin.

I will stop at nothing to ensure that the villainess does not fall in love with the male lead. I will create a brighter future for myself and those around me. No matter what happens, I will be firm and face the challenges head-on.
