Characters
Areia Ishtar

Born in 1200 BCE (1430 Central Calendar) in the city of Byzantion (modern-day Istanbul), and chosen as General of the Mekhanites in 1150 BCE (1480 Central Calendar).  Beforehand, she served as a foot soldier for the Mekhanite armies during the battles in and around the Caucasus Mountains, earning fame for her heroics at the Battle of Mount Elbrus.  She served the Mekhanite Empire loyally for nearly 20 years before undergoing a specialized form of gene therapy and modification after exposure to a Sarkic bioweapon, making her eternally young and stronger than someone in peak physical condition.  This gene therapy occurred in 1160 BCE (1470 Central Calendar).  She is also responsible for the death of the head of the Kalmaktama Empire, Grand Karcist Ion, during the Siege of Gyaros.

Her name is derived from the Spartan version of the Greek goddess Aphrodite, Aphrodite Areia, and the Mesopotamian goddess of love, fertility, and war, Ishtar.

Diogen

Member of the 2nd Ornithopter Brigade.  Co-Operator of the ornithopter for the First Mekhanite Expedition into the New World.

His name is derived from the famous Greek philosopher, Diogenes.

Myrdan

Member of the 2nd Ornithopter Brigade.  Originally from the city of Persepolis.  Fight Engineer of the ornithopter for the First Mekhanite Expedition into the New World.

Anaxi

Member of the 2nd Ornithopter Brigade.  Originally from the city of Thebes before moving to Troy to be closer to his work.  The operator of the ornithopter for the First Mekhanite Expedition into the New World.

His name is derived from the Greek Philosopher Anaximenes.

Torenal

Current Archon of the Mekhanite Empire.  Born in the year 1170 BCE, he inherited the empire in 1155 BCE at the age of 15.  Due to political infighting, most of his reforms were dead in the water, but those that did make it were scarily effective.

Agamear

The presiding Prime Minister of the Mekhanite Empire after being recommended for the position by Areia Ishtar, who did so on the grounds of his leadership talents and his ability to bluff through his teeth.

His name is based on the mythological Greek king of Mycenae, Agamemnon.

Items
Tilemet

Teleportation device created by the Mekhanite Empire before the War of the Flesh.  Most of the time, it is given to high-ranking individuals within the military or to civilians in high-danger areas and is used for surprise attacks and quick getaways, but is also used by ornithopter pilots in case they crash.  Often shaped like a large ring and attached to a belt, but other times in the form of a neckpiece or wristband, or even a small, blue box.

Based on the Greek word for "Teleportation", tilemetaforá.

Cretean Colossus

Massive war machines created by the Mekhanite Empire during the late stages of the War of the Flesh.  As of the Siege of Gyaros, only 10 remain.  They are made out of an alloy of copper, zinc, nickel, lead, and iron.  Powered by a specialized cold fusion reactor.

The height of a Cretean Colossus is 305 feet, and its weight is 230 tons when fully unloaded.  The most common weapons used by Cretean Colossi are an energy ballista in the left arm and a flamethrower filled with Greek Fire in the right, although the modularity of the arm's design means they can wield swords, shields, and other Mekhanite weapons built for their size.

Mekhanite Powered Armor

The powered armor of Mekhanite soldiers is powered by a small power pack on the user's back, using zero-point fusion energy to send specialized protons into the arms, legs, and fake muscles of the armor to ensure that the soldiers can fight with the Karcist-enchanted foes of the Kalmaktama Empire.  Although it is not given to fresh recruits, it is more than capable of being used by them with some practice.

The armor itself is made of a specialized alloy that appears chrome when unpainted and also has glowing accents when in use, and none when being used as basic armor.

Areia Ishtar's armor was modified by herself to have a repeating energy crossbow built into the left arm and a fold-out hoplon in the right, while a small Greek Fire projector is located on the back near the power pack.

Location
Mekhanite Empire

Formed from the ashes of the Xia Dynasty, and made up of devout followers of Mekhane, the Mekhanite Empire was formed from the city of Amoni-Ram c. 2400 BCE (c. 230 Central Calendar), before expanding outwards to Greece, Turkey, and other areas in and around the Mediterranean and Black Sea.  Came into conflict with the Kalmatkama Empire in 1400 BCE (1230 Central Calendar), beginning the War of the Flesh.  Currently in a state of collapse due to their main enemy being defeated by 1000 BCE (1630 Central Calendar), with infighting and political tricks being as common as their trade routes.

Their main beliefs are that the goddess that Sarkicism worships, Yaldabaoth, is the destroyer of all man, and only with the assistance of the rebuilt Mekhane can she be stopped.  To them, the flesh is broken, and only through Mekhane's light can it be fixed.

Amoni-Ram (Original)

The original city of Amoni-Ram was created c. 2400 BCE (c. 230 Central Calendar) by followers of the Mekhanite Faith, with the position of the leader of the city (and later head of the Mekhanite Empire) being given the title of Archon.  The position of Archon was given to the Mornaris family, who were devout members of the Mekhanite religion and high-ranking members of the Mekhanite Church.  It remained in relative peace as the Mekhanite Empire expanded outward, until the city's destruction at the hands of a Sarkic invasion and Daevite plot in 1350 BCE (1380 Central Calendar), leaving nothing but the foundations, and the royal family all but wiped out, leaving only the 17-year-old son and heir to the throne alive.

Later in life, it inspired the city of a thousand pillars, Iram, in the Qu'ran.  The current location of the wrecked city is between Ain Wasia and Salad in Saudi Arabia.

Miscellaneous
Mekhane

The God/Goddess of the Mekhanite Empire.  At the end of the War of the Flesh, she broke her body apart to prevent Yaldabaoth from using her powers to revive Grand Karcist Ion and begin the war anew.  Before this, they were often worshipped by the followers of the Mekhanite religion, and seen as their great savior.

Mekhanites often refer to Mekhane by female pronouns, however, some sects use male pronouns, with the current Archon being in one of these sects.  Despite this choice in worship, it has not drawn conflict between the outlying sects and the main Mekhanite church until the defeat of the Kalmaktama Empire at the Siege of Gyaros.

Spoiler

Mekhane also existed in the New World, under a name that has been lost to time, and now is known only as the Goddess of the Hammer and Anvil.
