The king, the piece you cannot afford to have lost, the piece that all others are sacrificed for. But, what if the king was a fool, your typical J-RPG male protagonist with no player in control to steer him in the right direction? So mindlessly self-righteous it borders on being suicidal? Now imagine being a pawn on that board. The weakest piece that is always first to die for their king.

This is what Ver faces, a earthling who was transported in game as the tutorial boss of a academy J-RPG game. A boss that was to herald ascendant of the hero who would in the future slay the demon lord to save the world? Who was to be defeated and exiled back to his house in disgrace, never to be heard from again. At least, so far as the game story told. Rather, his true fate was to die on his way home, killed by assassins and made to look like an accident. With rain coming down, Ver closed his eyes only to be taken back to the "tutorial" scene. Regression, albeit limited to a certain number of times per "episode" of the game. If he or the hero died, Ver would regress back to the start of the "episode." Protecting his loathsome hero from demons who seek his death while dealing with the schemes of the powerful figures that walk the academy grounds, all wanting the hero.

This novel won't have a schedule necessarily considering I, the author, am a university student writing this as something to pass the time. The weight of responsibility that a schedule would put on me combined with university and work would be crushing.
