A girl named Kinoshita Kagami is a very dedicated fan of the Touhou fandom. She possesses everything imaginable about the series, be it official works, doujin music, fumo and figurines. She is also very interested in discovering the real life inspiration for the series. Despite being a bit of a shut-in before becoming a Touhou fan, now, she went out of her way to participate in Hinamatsuri, Tanabata, or even pay the Suwa Grand Shrine a visit.

One day, she went to visit a large cemetery in Kyoto called Rendaino, which is a possible inspiration for the story of the Hifuu Club album "Night Trip to Rendaino ~ Ghostly Field Club" (since why else would anyone visit a cemetery for sight-seeing). When she was walking around the place however, she found herself in an unfamiliar place filled with tombstones.

She did not know it yet, but she was no longer in Kyoto. She was now standing in Muenzuka, a place humans were never meant to be in. Luckily, after crossing the Road of Reconsideration and reaching the Forest of Magic, a kind-hearted magician took her to the Hakurei Shrine. After telling the Hakurei Miko that she would like to stay in Gensokyo, she was taken to the Village and settled down there.

Thus began Kagami's life in this land of illusion where common sense no longer applies.

WARNING: This series expects the reader to already be familiar with Touhou Project. If you do not know anything about the series, it is safe to assume that you won't understand a lot of the content.

Note:

- There might be characters from other series/franchises too, but they will play an established role in Gensokyo. In short, I will be taking the design of those characters but not their past or setting. For example, Tanya might appear as a Lunarian soldier, or Fubuki might appear as a fox youkai. Their personality and past will be entirely different from their source material.

- I will try my best to stick to official sources, though deviations will definitely happen with or without me being aware of it

- Touhou Suichouka (Lotus Eater) and Touhou Chireikiden (Cheating Detective Satori) are still on-going, so I will try not to write too much about them to keep the timeline consistent. Though, I might still use Miyoi and Mizuchi as characters.

- I might or might not include the Touhou Juuouen ~ Unfinished Dream of All Living Ghost, since I am not very familiar with its character just yet despite the game having been out for a while now.

- I will not write about characters I don't like (say, the Lunarians, save for Sagume Kishin). I will also be more biased towards the ones that I do like. This is my fanfic after all. If you want to see characters you like, write your own.

- I don't know Japanese, so a lot of the things I write will be taken from the English translation available instead.

- While I am fairly confident in my English proficiency, this is my first time writing a proper story. Keep this in mind while reading and don’t expect too much. <<less

In the forgotten land of Gensokyo lay many a fantastical creature and personages even more fantastical than any creature – there reside plentiful of vampires, ghosts, tengus, onis, so on and so forth. The land is a refuge for these creatures who are oft forgotten in the 21st century of the Outside World (Earth) and whisked away through a barrier that separates this odd realm from the normal world that exists outside.... more>>

Perhaps the oddest location in Gensokyo, amongst those comprehendible to the ordinary human mind, is the Scarlet Devil Mansion. A Western mansion, sticking out like a sore thumb in an Eastern land, inhabited by: a gatekeeper who can’t gatekeep, a maid / ninja / very normal human who can control time itself, an asthmatic witch with an impressive collection of books in Esperanto, the mansion’s vampiric mistress with a penchant for trolling, and the aforementioned mistress’ little sister who has the ability to destroy anything and / or anyone at will. Oh, and one last thing, the vampires serve humans for breakfast, dinner and lunch.

As evidenced above, the Scarlet Devil Mansion is not a suitable place to live for your run-of-the-mill homo sapiens with any smidgeon of sanity.

Thus, it is quite a troubling predicament when an ordinary human named Licorice Meidou finds herself in the grounds of the mansion, with no idea as to where she is or who she is. She ends up being recruited on the whim of the mansion’s mistress, stepping foot into the bizarre land of Gensokyo as she has to contend with whatever fate has in store for her.

What to expect from this work:

- The world of Gensokyo as told from the perspective of an ordinary, human female MC working in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, written in a way that should be easy to get into for people who know nothing about Touhou.
- Some comedy, some drama, lots of slices-of-life.
- Scenes of people consuming tea.

What to not expect from this work:

- High octane action with high-stakes drama.
- An overpowered MC who gets all the girls.
- John Brown. Please read the John Brown Isekai if you were expecting the aforementioned.

Since I’m currently busy writing the John Brown Isekai, this work might not have the most consistent chapter length (somewhere around 1000-2000 words / chapter).
