This is the story Of Angel. His journey. Starting from the day he turns 16.

Basic knowledge is based on things I made up so here it is.

There is canonically a power system for mages ranging from 1 mana circle to 18.
18 is the highest recorded and basically stuff of legend. Whereas 12 is the highest in modern magic.
People can be born with 1-3 circles.
A test is required to advance in ranking for mages.
You become a Apprentice mage at 3 circles.
You become a Qualified mage at 6 circles.
You become a Archmage at 10 circles.
This doesn't effect much besides your reputation among mages, and political standing.

You become a very respected mage at 8 circles. Can take 40 years to reach at the lowest.

Swordsmen have their own ranking system.

Its based on the output of sword aura and is calculated by mages using mana stones.
Sword aura is just a less refined more forceful application of mana.
The general range is -
1 star is a Swordsman.
3 stars is a Knight.
6 stars is a General.
8 stars makes you a Sword Master.
It is harder to become a Sword Master than a Archmage because practicing the sword is the only way to gain
sword stars. And Gaining sword stars unlike mana circles does not prolong your life. But the power differential is not too high. It would be a equal fight if a 11 circle mage and a Sword master met.

People become Swordsmen because studying magic is more expensive than picking up a sword.
Talent and skill is easier to gain with the sword whereas magic is more gene based.

Mana is life force. Training a sword can get you magic circles but its about 1 circle per 3 stars. So your lifespan isn't prolonged as much as a mages.
1 circle is about 10 years of life.
A star is increasing amount and output force. Circles do the same but also increase mana purity.

Out of all individual Buffy episodes, the most frequently fanfic’ed is Halloween. Of those fanfics, a lot of them turn Xander into a girl and then just have Xander ‘get used to it’ with no further explanation. Whiiiiich seems a little problematic. Still, it’s worth considering:
How would the series actually change if Xander was trans the whole time?
I’ve read a few ‘what if Buffy was trans’ fics, and a couple ‘what if Faith was trans’ fics, but I haven’t actually seen many (or any) fanfics that explore the Xander option.
