After a few weeks, the group got excited about the date today. It marked the day that something major was to occur. That being the return of their good friend, Anastasia, who was coming back after a wonderful vacation in Russia. Kouji being the one looking forward to it most out of all of them.
“I swear, it feels like it’s been forever since the last time we saw her.” He commented as the gang was making their way to the airport. She had taken a first-class flight back on her own as her family had other business to attend to. “I honestly don’t know how much longer I can wait for her.”
“Sheesh, you’re like a dog that just heard its owner at the door.” Waa joked. “It’s not like we haven’t chatted with her over a webcam.”
“Yeah, and you even got some private time with her too.” Teru quipped. She didn’t know what they were doing alone, but it was most likely stuff that made her jealous.
“Speaking of, what have your private ‘chats’ been all about anyway?” Himawari asked with suspicious eyes. “You better not have done something none of us would approve of.”
“Well, I don’t kiss and tell.” He responded in a teasing fashion. “Besides, we’re thousands of miles apart. It’s not like I can do anything with her outside of looking at her.”
“So she’s… Given you shows?” Yuma asked. “...Or did you?”
“M-maybe…” Having to say it out loud was embarrassing with all of them around. Especially since they were also in public. “Still, I wish I could’ve kissed her before she left.”
“Yeah, when you suggested it, she hightailed it into the airplane in an instant.” Waa laughed about the sight of seeing the girl peeking her head from the door, ushering her family to leave as they were getting late. “I almost thought she didn’t actually like you.”
“I guess she must’ve gotten shy because her parents were there.” Teru reasoned that public displays of affection were a little beyond that girl’s resolve. She knew it was that way with her.
“Anyway, I hope things went well for her in Russia.” They arrived to the gate where she was expected to come out from. They saw a plane landing nearby, which had to have been Anastasia’s. “And I hope she didn’t forget about us too much.”
“I hope she didn’t forget to bring back some souvenirs.” Waa asked if the girl could bring back some Russian goodies for her to collect. She wasn’t even sure what they’d be getting, but they better be cool.
“...There she is.” Yuma pointed over to her as she exited the plane and entered the airport. She was holding onto a bag in one arm, with a heavy coat in the other. The weather in Russia required it, but she had shed it now that the warmer temperatures of Japan during the spring hit her.
In their excitement, they all ran up to her. The group saying their greetings, barely giving the girl a chance to respond to them in a proper fashion. Their words were filled with the expected chatter of questions, such as how the trip went or if she had fun back in her hometown.
“It is wonderful to see you all again.” She gave them a warm smile. After not seeing them in person for these weeks, the feelings of missing their presence had really hit her.
“I’m really glad to meet you again.” Among them, Kouji was the most happy with her return. “We’ve got a lot of catching up to do.”
“Actually…” She spoke slowly. “Perhaps our relationship might not work out.”
“What?” He was shocked at her words. Was this supposed to be a breakup already, when they’ve only just seen each other in person once again? However, she gave off a mischievous smile at him being taken aback. Anastasia took advantage of him being staggered and leaped forward towards him. She took this chance to steal a small kiss from him.
“April fools!” She laughed as he remember the date.
“Right…” He was relieved to hear it. The boy also got flustered, covering over his mouth to not show the major grin on his face from being graced of her lips. However, his attempts to remain cool failed as he rushed into her. The boy gave her a tight embrace. “I really missed you.” Kouji admitted out loud his loneliness to her.
“I missed you too.” She responded. Her heart feeling the warmth of his.
“Hey, when you’re done showing off to the entire world.” Waa interrupted their little moment. “We should find a place to eat and catch up for real.” She was starving, as she hadn’t eaten in preparation for her return.
“We should get sushi.” After being out of the country for as long as she had, Anastasia had really missed the local cuisine. Since she was also the one making her return, they all agreed with her idea. “And Kouji, since we haven’t touched each other in a long time. I want to hold your hand as we walk there.” Without getting his permission, she did it anyway and grabbed on.
“It would be my pleasure.” He held her hand back as they departed the airport. Normally, he’d be a little worried that this might not be fair to the others. However, they’ve all had their fair share of him during their spring break. So it was time to spoil Anastasia today.
The boy took the time to look at every single one of them as they made their way to the destination. Somehow in less than a year, he had fallen for the girls surrounding him. If you had told him this was going to happen after he first met them. He would’ve called you crazy. Yet that’s exactly what happened.
They all became his friends, then more than that. A group of rich girls, with a few attitude problems. Meanwhile, he was just a poor teen boy who could hardly make ends meet. Most people would never think a pairing like this could happen except maybe in a mediocre manga.
Kouji chuckled to himself. Of course something like this would happen. All because he was tutoring the spoiled.
It honestly makes me so happy to those that have stuck around all the way to the end. Yes, this is indeed the end of the main story to Tutoring the Spoiled. I don't consider it to be the end of our cast's fun times. But perhaps I should explore that in a sequel book instead of adding more chapters to this one. So I'll mark it as complete for now, but I'd like to hear suggestions on what I should do. And of course, I'd love to hear what you thought of the story. Even if you didn't like it, some feedback would be welcomed so that I can continue to improve.
Once again, thanks so much. I'm truly grateful for everyone who has completed this story.
I liked this series, I really enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would.
A bit sad to see it end this early (113 chapter tho, so it had meat in it). I would love to see this come back, even as another book.
now finally, a question I'd like to make: are there images of the characters?
Generally speaking, I more or less took the designs of existing characters when envisioning the girls, with the exceptions of Teru. It's pretty much this...
Himawari - Akai Haato (Vtuber)
Teru - is basically a short red haired tomboy
Waa - kuroki tomoko from Watamote
Yuma - Aqua (Another Vtuber, which I realize I might take from their designs way too often)
Anastasia - A mix between Uzaki from Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang out and Anastasia from Idolmaster
I didn't give much thought beyond them with the rest of the characters.
WAIT WHAT THE f*ck....This is like the end of the Prologue for me...You just canceled the harry Potter movies after just the first movie!!!!!! What about the Headmistress? The other girls family? his friends? the.....it was so good and the canceled it after the Pilot Episode! NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!
This is one of my longer stories, so I don't really know the idea that most people have when it comes to length. But there is a lot that ended up not being resolved in this prologue that I would like to get to in the future. There are still plenty of ideas left in this concept that I'm sure readers would love. Plus I could even be more raunchier in the next book if people are okay with it.
@bigbear51
Well the first thing is you have already decided the name of the next possible book...[Dating the Spoiled] a tease from this chapter!..Second I do not think it would be good to turn it into a SMUT novel..a little skin-ship is good but keep it vanilla! Also only a bit is needed. Third yup there is still soooo much to do here if you have the motivation like the last two high school years as the next part witch could include the advent of the Headmistress into there ranks...Then you could do the collage year with the MC taking over Yumas family business and the other girls taking on various roles turning the story into something more sophisticated with high society...and on and on...but if you do not feel it it will not flow out of ya...good luck ether way!
I really enjoyed this story, author-sama! I felt that the pace seemed a bit too fast at first, considering that you didn't out-right give each girl an arc of her own, but the smooth way in which you wrote everything was perfect, so my assumptions were not correct. The characters really got fleshed-out and the scenes were pretty life-like... not counting the invisible Kouji chapter...
All in all, the way you wrote and planned out everything was great, in my opinion! The emotions definitely were a roller coaster ride, not gonna lie.
But I'm glad the ending happened the way it did... if you have time later, I would LOVE it if you could make a sequel...
Maybe Titled: Dating the Spoiled: Second Year of High School or something.
All in all, I really enjoyed the story, and would be very happy if you could write a sequel (or maybe even more, if I'm being honest... ) for this!
Glad you enjoyed the story, and thanks for taking the time to read it.
In regards to the sequel, I do have something in the works right now. Though I want to finish the idol story first before I get started on it. So far I do have the title, which is "Dating the Spoiled" and even have a good first volume in mind before writing it. I'm assuming by more, you mean more "naughty" scenes with the girls. Of which, I think that the fanservice will be enjoyable for the readers.
@bigbear51 i guess it could be interperted as such. I meant stuff like more than one sequel, but I guess I would like that...
Thank you, author-san. This was such a great ride!
I find this a bit of a weird way and place to end it. I get you're not done done so it's kinda just semantics, but putting this as any sort of hard-ish ending seems odd to me. I was honestly a little surprised to even see this chapter start with a timeskip to when Anastasia came back, never mind when I later saw it was the last chapter.
You went to all the trouble of setting the harem up, and then just... fin. We barely got any interaction between the girls afterwards, nor anything about how they are actually all working together. I guess we got half of a date before they were interrupted once?
Almost feels like you did a great job setting up a joke and then forgot the punchline.
Yeah, it did just end up feeling like a bit of an open ending type deal. Personally, I'm fine with this as a stopping point because I think a continuation would be better served as a different book (or series since that's how this site works). Maybe I've read too many mediocre harems with poor endings that I kind of don't really know how to end things myself.
@bigbear51 There's an open ending, and there's this. I think this is a bit too open, honestly.
Part of it is that I thought you had hooks in place to really start digging into what their relationship was. As is you kinda just said "aaand relationship! roll credits!" despite having spent some time recently setting up issues like Teru's jealousy and insecurity. Seeing how they handle that kind of problem is kind of the meat I was expecting to find here. Or setting up Himawari's other friends - how do they deal with presenting themselves to others? You had Anastasia's parents here too, but didn't do anything with them either. They were just kinda just "harem? well cool, I guess" which made their existence rather thin. Compare that to Yuma's parents, which were also only around briefly but had a more interesting perspective and more reasons to roll with the punches given their daughter's nature. You also had the various social status differences setup and how that plays into everything that also basically got ignored - at least there was nothing resembling any real conflict beyond a little awkward avoidance, nor any kind of resolution with them.
And that's all stuff that's already pretty well teed up. Even halfway through this chapter, I'd have bet you had plans to address those things to at least some degree. Not all of it needs to be fully wrapped up - some of those are rather large problems after all - but you could make some progress on them. Set up some smaller conflicts relating to them and resolve that to at least push things along. Then use the end of the school year, or maybe summer break, or something for the larger breakpoint. As it stands this just seems weird and kinda random to me. It would make far more sense to me if this was an extended side story/prelude to a larger existing work. But, well...
But as I said, stuff does get muddled when dealing with webnovel volumes/books/series/whatever. I admit I tend more towards larger monoliths rather than more broken up stuff, but even doing my best to account for that, I still find this super weird and hard to understand.
I loved it and the ending is pretty well how I hoped it would be.
You could do a time skip to see how the realationship is in the future.
Was the principle just meant to be a mother figure? Or did I read to much into underlying hints. I’d like more of her.
If/when I do a continuation of this series. It most likely would just start off where this ended. So that we can enjoy the rest of their high school lives. And I'd certainly say that Kouji ain't staying a virgin forever with the girls around him
I realize that the principle ended up being very unimportant for this last volume. Even if I never made a true decision in this story, I suppose that I'll leave up her fate to what the fans ultimately want. But I do believe that being a "motherly" figure and romantic interest aren't mutually exclusive.
@bigbear51 that would still be good I would enjoy seeing the harem together and the conversations.
Also who gets his first time and etc would make for interesting chapters.
I like to think of the principal as romantic it’s more fun
It had its ups and downs, but this was a fun read!
I would be fine with this ending or it getting a sequel but I’d prefer more chapters for your series my new neighbor is an idol which hasn’t been updated in awhile.
