General Description:

Bats are a type of animal that has mastered the skies (to a certain degree). They are often seen as related to demons and vampires, yet they are not a direct relative of those species...most of the time.

Bat-type traits are divided into the "natural" bats, which consist of 2 traits, and the more "fantastic" bat species which can have various types. The two most common ones from the latter category are explained here.

Only 1 Bat-type trait can be "in use" at a time. If the creature in question evolves or has its trait(s) mutated, then a new trait will replace the current one.

Trait: Bat

Abilities:

  • Increases the value of SPD and DEX stats: *1.5
  • Positive correction to flight-type skills: [High]
  • Positive correction to perception-type skills: [Normal]
  • Reduced perception abilities in daylight: [Small]
  • Reduced probability of being inflicted by Sound-based status ailments: [Normal]
Trait: Giant Bat

Abilities:

  • Increases the value of SPD and DEX stats: *1.3
  • Increases the value of STR and VIT stats: 1*4
  • Positive correction to flight-type skills: [Normal]
  • Positive correction to perception-type skills: [Normal]
  • Reduced perception abilities in daylight: [Normal]
  • Reduced probability of being inflicted by Sound-based status ailments: [Normal]

Description:

[Bat] is the most common trait to find among the various bat-type monsters. It gives them more speed and dexterity, along with improved flight capabilities to reflect the bat's natural flying skills (which are further enhanced thanks to the trait's effects).

In addition to this, bats also enjoy improved perception skills compared to other species, as well as resistance against status ailments connected to the Sound attribute. Both these traits originate from the bat's natural affinity for echolocation. The downside is that their perception abilities are reduced when the sun is out, a testament to the bat's weak eyesight.

[Giant Bat] is the trait given to larger bat creatures. They have higher physical values than normal bats but their speed is reduced due to their larger size. They are still quite quick, just a little more "clumsy", to put it in a simple way.

They also have worse perception during daylight compared to creatures with the normal [Bat] trait, but due to their might and flight, they are horrifying enemies in secluded and dark locations.

Trait: Vampiric Bat

Abilities:

  • Increases the value of SPD and DEX stats: *1.5
  • Increases Sacred-type damage received: *2
  • Positive correction to flight-type skills: [High]
  • Positive correction to perception-type skills: [Normal]
  • Reduced stats while in daylight: [Small]
  • Increased stars while in the moonlight: [Small]
  • Reduced probability of being inflicted by Sound-based and Blood-based status ailments: [Normal]
  • Positive correction to drain-type skills: [Small]
  • Positive correction to self-recovery-type skills: [Small]

Description:

The [Vampiric Bat] trait is a trait given to bat-type creatures related to vampires, but are not vampires themselves. Those creatures would have something like the [Vampire] trait or the [Demi-Vampire] trait.

The difference between [Vampiric Bat] and [Bat] is that the former has many abilities that can be connected to vampires. Increased damage to Sacred-type attacks (but not the additional damage from Silver), increased stats from acting while the moon is out, resistance against Blood-related ailments, improved draining skills, and a boost to self-recovery.

This trait is often used for vassal creatures for real vampires or vampire-related creatures. It can also be used as the starting point for any bat-type creatures to evolve into a vampire-related species and obtain the immortality (and weaknesses) of the undead.

Trait: Demonic Bat

Abilities:

  • Increases the value of SPD and DEX stats: *1.5
  • Increases the value of MAG and RES stats: *1.4
  • Increases Sacred-type damage received: *1.5
  • Increased Gold-type damage received: *1.4
  • Positive correction to flight-type skills: [High]
  • Positive correction to perception-type skills: [Normal]
  • Reduced perception abilities in daylight: [Small]
  • Reduced probability of being inflicted by Sound-based and Curse-based status ailments: [Normal]
  • Positive correction to negative Karma Value obtained: [Small]
  • Negative correction to positive Karma Value obtained: [Small]

Description:

The [Demonic Bat] trait is like the demon version of the [Vampiric Bat] trait. It is the stepping stone for bats who want to graduate from being simple subordinates to demons into demon overlords themselves.

These bats are not that different from regular bats. The difference is the increased vulnerability to Sacred-type attacks and the Gold attribute, as well as a stronger affinity for magic and higher resistance against Curse-based ailments. Like other demons, these bats have it easier to obtain negative Karma Value.

Some demonic bats even thrive at this low difference between them and regular bats, as they can catch people off-guard by pretending by being normal bats before blasting them with magic from a distance where their prey cannot dodge.

Flint's comment: These are the traits related to Zaria, aren't they? Knowing her, she may be wishing to obtain [Demonic Bat].

Noire's comment: Since she lived in Solomar before getting sent to Luxuria? I am betting she will flunk it up and obtain +200 in Karma instead.
