Whelp......I'm grounded.

Papa was furious that the only way to use my language skill was to kiss others, and that my first one was stolen by Lan. So I'm grounded to the manor while Lan is forced to stay out in the stables away from me. For how long am I grounded, you ask? Well, I believe his exact words to be - "You are grounded for......till college."

"For till college?"

"FOR TILL COLLEGE!!!!"

After that he pulled Lan away and had Mary lead me back to my room. She informed me that after the Royal Academy there was another school for those that wanted to further their education, called college. So this world has a high school and college just like Earth but you get home tutors, if you could afford them, before you go there.

"It'll be alright, Dear, the Lord is just very protective of you."

"That's one way of putting it....Mary, how long do you think I'll be grounded for really?"

"Oh, I don't think it will be for long. Just bat your lashes at him after a while and he'll be putty in your hands." It's sad that what she was saying is completely true. I could bring a single tear to my eye and Papa would be falling over himself to make me happy again. Yue jumped off of my shoulder and walked towards a door at the other side of the room. It was a recent addition to my room thanks to Papa. He saw how much I loved reading so he had this door crafted by a magic tool maker to link to my room to the manor's library. I was told that I didn't have to wear myself out walking back and forth carrying heavy books anymore.

"Yeah, I agree, Yue. Let's go calm down and read some books. There's still so much knowledge to learn!"

Giggling, I opened the door and walked into the library, the smell of old paper and ink filled my nose. This scent was like heaven to me both here and in my past life. Running my fingers down each spine, I looked at the titles trying to decide on what to read tonight. There were many different subjects to read from: fiction, literature, history, myths, legends, magic, ect. Two books in the magic section caught my interest as I skimmed through.

Magic for Beginners: Learning to Control Your Elements and Theories of Magic: The Will and the Word

I brought it back to my room and began to read through the book for beginners, but it just told me to memorize long drawn sentences that supposedly drew out the power of the elements. The book stated that remembering these plus reciting it everyday is what helps people use their skills. Sighing, I grabbed the other book and began to read out of that one.

Many believe that in order to use our magic and skills, then the sentence structure and pronunciation is key to preforming it. Yet there are people out there who practice and perfect the ancient language that still can not use their skills. Now many would say that they have no talent and as such, they would not be able to no matter how hard they try. Then why do those particular skills show up on their status? Why are they not able to use them if that is what the Gods gave them? After all, the Gods are said to bestow skills that would help us in our life's journey.

My theory is that it is not the structure or sound of the ancient language that helps us use magic, but the will and the visual. Now, I've seen few people who could use their magic without the use of the ancient language, but they are very rare and tend to stay to themselves. But this leads me to believe that the words help the caster visualize what the magic can do. If you can visualize and will this spell into exsistance, then a single word could help a person use their skills easier.

My own little brother had trouble using his fire magic as we were growing up. Even as adults he had trouble learning fire spells and thus couldn't become a court mage like he wanted. Once I gathered enough information, I took my brother aside and told him of my findings. Though he had little hope for it working, he wanted to at least try.

It took a few weeks, but we finally managed to prove my theory right after he was able to visualize what he wanted the spell to do! He has to use a word to make the magic work, but no longer does he have to memorize long sentences to utilize this skills like the others do. We tried explaining the method to those asked and even informed the Royal Academy board, but they just scoffed at us. Disregarded all my research and theories because it wasn't tradition and 'proper'. Even when my brother managed to become a court mage, those around him did not believe in the methods we used would work. They thought that he was either hiding the real method or was just born with amazing skills.

Even though many did not think my theory and methods were valid, I still wish to leave my research to those that may want to use it. So to you, my dear descendant, I wish you all the luck in the world, and I hope that maybe you can change the way things are done.

Arthur Cecius von Bloodworth

Putting the book down, I sat in silence over what I just read. My ancestor found a way to use magic more freely and tried to show the world how it was done. When none believed him and his brother, he left use this single thin book to try and keep this research alive....I wonder if Papa knew about this book? Then again I've never seen him use his skills in front of me. I wonder what his status says. I looking back down at the book, I wondered how powerful my magic would be since I came from Earth, where is was easier to see things visually thanks to TV and mangas.

"Water Ball"

An orb of clear of water appeared floating above my hand. I stared at it with a smile and knew that I was really gonna like my magic.
