Chapter 6: Danger level SS

It's already 2 in the morning when they left the military building after registering Li Bai's identity from Mu Cheng.

The night sky is still above them and the lack of lights from the infrastructures made the stars appear more brighter. Since Li Bai lived in a busy area, there are pollution in the air and the lights from houses and buildings faded the stars in the sky.

Xiang Lian Jun stirred the wheels and drove slowly than he usually did. He looked at Li Bai on the side mirror and saw him staring at the people walking outside.

Although the sky looks particularly lovely, the environment around them looked gloomy and quiet.

"The electricity is limited to street lights only during the night to preserve electricity. Tomorrow, there would be lights in the public houses. We only do this during weekends." The general stopped by a gate and honked a few times. The gate opened and Xiang Lian Jun drove to the garage.

The man helped Li Bai take off his seatbelt, when they got off the car. Li Bai is still staring outside the gate.

"What's on your mind?" Li Bai blinked and turned to the man.

"Why are they holding guns? The kids are also..." To what extent is the danger of this world, Li Bai did not know. But to think that children are involved in the war.

Xiang Lian Jun answered, "The higher ups required everyone to be armed so they have an equal chance to defend themselves in case new humans got inside the human base."

After an accident two years ago, a country was wiped out when Biàntài invaded them during night time. The enemy had left out kids during war but this time, no one had survived.

Since then, It's normal for children to hold weapons. Though, their fighting prowess is less than that of adults, they can still inflict at least an injury to the enemy.

"Come inside to rest." Li Bai pursed his lips. His world and this world are extremely different from each other. He had to adapt fast and get used to the world's rules and ideologies.

When Li Bai entered the house, he marveled at how big it looked from the inside. The interior looks clean, monochromatic, and minimal. He remembered Agent 013's office and was sure that both men had the same taste in style.

"I only have one bed but the the bed is big enough for the two of us. You can choose which side you like." Li Bai nodded and happily ran to the bedroom. He decisively picked the side near the window.

Xiang Lian Jun pursed his lips as he gazed at the dirty youth. Hopefully, the clean bed would not get soiled.

"There's a towel and pajama by the cabinet. Take a bath first." Li Bai stood up from the bed and went inside the bathroom. He had always like having a bathroom inside the bedroom for convenience.

Xiang Lian Jun stared at bathrooms door. He didn't moved and listened to the splash in sounds inside.

Feeling some strong energy, the man went to the living room where an additional figure is casually taking a bite on a cupcake while sitting on the brown sofa.

"He's asleep?" the man looked at him and asked with his mouth still full.

"Taking a shower." Xiang Lian Jun messed up his hair and took a cupcake from the box on the guy's hand.

"Eh, you changed your tastes now? I didn't know you like this typ—"

Xiang Lian Jun threw a pillow and hit the man's face, "Quickly eat and then scram. I'm in bad mood because of you guys."

"Eh, It's not my fault that idiot was seen by your soldiers. I'm gonna tell the lady boss so he'll get less sweets." After that, the man disappeared as if he was never been there. The box of cupcakes remained on the table.

Xiang Lian Jun dipped his finger on the cupcake's icing and licked it, "Li Bai...is strange."

Agent 013 stared at Li Bai's sleeping face and then at the danger meter that had been on level SSS. He panicked and quickly scanned Li Bai's area but found no danger, the meter was decreased to level SS after a few minutes.

Confused by the high leveled danger he contacted his boss for repairment but the Main System also blinked multiple times to reassure that the danger meter is not broken.

"Main System, this world's information looks one-sided. All of the information listed here came from the government but there are no data from the child of fate nor her Biàntài." In fact, all of the things he said to Li Bai is from the world's human government. Just how broken this world is?

Li Bai went out of the bath wearing a loose pajama. He had to fold the pants as to avoid tripping from it. Xiang Lian Jun lived alone with no servants. Although there are extra tools and necessities there, his clothes are too big for Li Bai to wear.

The youth looked around and found no one inside. Seeing that he is alone, he jump over the bed and rolled multiple times. The sheets and the pillows smelled like Xiang Lian Jun.

"..." Agent 013 ignored Li Bai's shamless sniffing and as if it isn't enough. He took the man's pillow and hugged it as he rolled around.

The system can't bear to tell the stupidly giggling youth that the danger level is SS and just reminded Li Bai to sleep quickly.

It wasn't that long when the little man's breathing became even and the bed was left in shambles.

Xiang Lian Jun opened the door and saw the messy bed below the sleeping youth. He sighed and went to the bathroom, taking a quick shower before going the other side of the bed.

Li Bai had rolled over to the middle, leaving him little space. Xiang Lian Jun moved gently to avoid waking Li Bai up.

The warm body of the youth made him feel comfortable. Abandoning the idea of moving Li Bai to the side of the bed, the man gently put the youth's head on his arm and proceeded to cuddle him.

"Ngh..." Xiang Lian Jun paused and looked at the opened little mouth. He remembered his drooled shirt earlier and decisively closed the mouth.

After ensuring that there's no other problem, he closed his eyes and slept. A lone thought appeared on the man's mind.

Should he adopt this little guy?
