Chapter 46: Xiao Xiu?
Zhang Jian knew if he told the girls the person is Lu Chen, his best friend would definitely be pissed off at him. So the next best thing; a transfer student.
The group of girls look at each other and then looks back at Zhang Jian, "What's his name?"
"Can I get his phone number?"
"Do you know what he likes?"
"Why didn't you tell us that the new transfer student is this handsome?!"
Their eyes are ferocious. The girls start to bombard Zhang Jian, wanting to get answers and details about Lu Chen. But they don't realize the dark expression on his face.
****, am I chop liver or what! Come on, there's a handsome young man right in your face! And you're not going to ask me for my number. Zhang Jian burst in his tears. Well, in his heart. The girls continue to focus on Lu Chen, ignoring the heartbreak that is going on in front of them.
...
As Zhang Jian is suffering from the bombarded questioning of the girls,
Lu Chen enters the library. This was the first time that he had gone to the library throughout his school life. Even though there is still a chance of him being gawked at in the library, at least one thing is sure for him: It's quiet here. I don't need to listen to all those murmuring about my looks and origin.
Looking down at his watch, I have 15 minutes to kill before the next class. Lu Chen is planning to stay the entire resting period there. He walks towards the counter and asks the librarian, who was reading a book.
“Hello, do you have any books about business management?” Lu Chen wants to build his fundamental knowledge in business management. In his previous life, Lu Chen was thrown into the business world after Lu Hao died. He doesn't have any skills or proficiency in how to run a business.
“On the second floor, in section B.” Without making eye contact with Lu Chen, the librarian said nonchalantly. He continues to focus on his book after he said that.
Lu Chen walks up to the second floor of the library. He starts to look around for a table to place his bags on. But, he notices something very odd. Almost all of the tables are filled to the brim with male students. And all of them had a feeling that they are waiting for something to happen.
Since the male student's longing gazes weren't directed at him, he didn't have to worry about being stared at. Lu Chen ignores them, and grab the book first and then find a table later. Walking to section B, Lu Chen saw the rows of books lined on each shelf, all of them about business management. Seeing that there were too many to choose from, he skims around each book and decides to choose two books to read.
After choosing the two books, Lu Chen walks back to the lobby to find a table. But when he walks back to his table, he notices that every male student had a smitten face, like they have been shot by cupid arrows. Lu Chen turns in the direction that all of the boys were looking towards, and he saw a girl reading a book.
The girl had straight, long black hair that goes down to her waist, bangs above the eyes, and bright and clear eyes that give off an angelic feeling. Yet has a touch of warmness coming from her. Even though her body was very slender, she had the right amount of flesh in the right places, giving her the perfect proportions that make any guy drool from the sight of her.
Her features combined made the males have feelings of wanting to protect her from any cruelties. But they couldn’t even go near her, or they’ll be blinded by their own desire for her.
However, Lu Chen wasn’t staring at her due to her beauty. But it was due to how he knew this girl all too well.
Xiao Xiu?
Xiao Xiu: this isn't a name. In China, sometimes when people want to call somebody younger than them, they would put xiao in the beginning and then a part of their name.
Blob Neutral
"Xiao" means little
And Gáo Mean tall Or big
This was not her name in the original story (and I'm pretty sure I recognize who she is). I think everyone is going to like her a lot... his first new (old) friend XX.
Also, it is nice to see that, so far, nobody is hating him any more, or calling him trash. and he has shed what were mostly everyone's preconceived notions that he is a moody thug (not saying that he was previously a saint or easy to approach person, but it is likely that few tried, including teachers), now that he no longer has a unkempt mop on his head and can make eye contact with classmates and teachers, things will improve without him even trying.
Yeah, except that it's weird seeing everyone just accept him so quickly...just because he got a haircut and they noticed how handsome he is. Looks don't change a person's character. It felt force. Author could have done a better job at having people accepting Lu Chen again. It shouldn't have happened overnight.
@Onewithlego ... unless the readers are assuming he was unpopular, when he was not. He was just a loner as far as I can tell.
Just because one (biased and evil) student says he was trash doesn't mean he was. A teacher labeled Lu as disruptive in class (assuming it wasn't Zhang, and Lu being caught up in it), but that hardly makes someone unpopular or evil. He may have just been a zero, largely unnoticed mophead. Possibly a bit unpopular, because he was disliked by the "in crowd", but that kind of popularity by association, or unpopularity by opposition, is flimsy and easily overcome.
@TDM When everyone calls you mophead Lu Chen...that's pretty famous to me...or infamous in this case.
@Onewithlego ... I'll grant you that. He was an awkward obsessive mop-headed numbskull.
After reading the next chapter, I'm going to note that Xiao Xiu isn't a name. It roughly translates to "Little" (Xiao) "Beauty" (Xiu); the girls name is Ye Meixiu (Family name Ye, Personal name Meixiu "Xiu"). ... which, I believe was the name from the first draft.
