Chapter Ten

"Com here Camar!”

I followed Georgina’s wish and went up right next to her. I wrapped my arms around Georgina and gave her large fluffy body a hug. Her black fur was slightly scraping against my face.

“No! Com here, Camar!”

Fenny’s jealousy acted up again and she quickly called me back to her side. I hugged Georgina for a bit more and then went up to Fenny to give her a hug.

“Don’t be like this,” I told Fenny, "Be a bit more sharing, okay?”

“Butt Fenny want Camar with er!”

“That’s very nice of you and cute as well, but you still need to learn to share. That goes for you as well, Georgina.”

““If Camar says so!””

I nodded in satisfaction. I really hope that these two girls learn to share, because it would allow them to interact with others in an easier way. If things go on like they are now, they’ll be fighting for who gets the husband after they grow up. These guys grew up so fast, already being able to talk. Whoever they choose to be with are going to be lucky guys! I hope those bastards get a thousand needles poked up their….. butts. Yeah, butts. Nothing else. Nothing that started with an “a”.

“Okay, now, let me tell you why I came here today! You see, Feeh has been teaching me martial arts and I got a lot of stress. I wanted to play with you and the Piffy Lugs so that I could relieve myself of the tension I am feeling. Sure, sleep helped me calm down, but I still have a bit of stress. So, could I play with you today?”

“Feeh?” asked Fenny.

“Feeh gut Camar tiered!” exclaimed Georgina.

“Wipe out!” declared Fenny.

“Kill!” shouted Georgina.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa! Stop right there!”

I felt as if I had just heard something I shouldn’t have.

“Don’t worry about me! Rather, where in the world did you learn those words?!”

“Whut wrds?”

“Yeah. Whut Fenny sad!”

*Stare*

Under my stare, both Lendren Runners turned their heads to the side of the barn, not looking me straight in the eyes. I went up to Fenny and moved to the place she was looking at, with my face pushed close to hers. Fenny turned her head to the other side as soon as my face came close.

I went to the side where Fenny had looked to but got the same response. I tried to make her look at me, however, it didn’t work. After doing this a few times and getting no answer, I went up to Georgina. I hoped that her extroverted personality would make it so that she couldn’t stop talking for some time.

Alas, my expectations were destroyed once more. Unusually, she was quiet. Why did she have to become shy at this point in time? If only she kept her personality of being extroverted.

……………

Inside of the Lendren Runner’s heads.

Fenny: Oh shoot! Why did I have to say those ungraceful words?! It may just ruin my image of being an introvert! But, I did it for a good reason. Yeah, it was a good reason alright! That Feeh guy made Cadmar tired! How could he do that to my soft and cute Cadmar?! Feeh! He’s the start of all of this! It’s because of him that I lost my head for a moment! Curse you, you idiotic man! Feeh!

Georgina: Oh no! I accidentally got Cadmar suspicious! What if he and Fenny find out that I’m actually smarter than I look?! That would completely ruin my image that I’d worked hard to create for years! If he connects the dots and finds out that I read those words from a book that he’d left behind once, Cadmar will know I’m smart! But I ruined my image for a heroically good reason! That man named Feeh got my dear Cadmar tired! Everything is traced back to him! Yeah, it was all caused by that man! Curse you, Feeh!

………………..

In the Le Garden

“Owwww! Why did I get hit by that owl just now? And after that, a caterpillar went into my leg! Argh! It’s biting! I can’t kill it because of my vow that I made those years ago! Argh! It

hurts! Why is this happening to me?! I thought that I covered myself in an insect repellent!”

………………..

“Hey! C’mon, look at me! Georgina! Fenny!”

*Sigh* I guess I’ll just have to let that go. Well, I should probably ask them what I came here to ask. I accidentally got caught up in the flow of things and this happened. I just need to stay calm and focus.

“Okay, fine. You don’t have to answer my questions, but can I ask you the thing that I came here to ask?”

Fenny’s head turned a bit towards me.

“Camar no question?”

“Yes, Fenny. No more questions.”

As I said that to Fenny, she turned her head to face me. I stared right at her eyes. They were still intelligent black eyes. If I had to compare her to what she was like two years ago, there’d be a huge contrast. That’s the same with Georgina, too.

One major thing is the size difference. That’s obvious, because, after all, both sisters are as large as horses. But even that I could only guess, since I’ve never seen a horse before. In technicality, I have seen a horse once, but not for long.

It was about a year after we’d adopted the two Lendren Runner sisters. Feeh had gone out to buy us some supplies, leaving me with the Piffy Lugs, Fenny, and Georgina as company. Feeh was gone for about a week, then came back. Along with him came a dark brown creature that had a black mane. The creature looked strong, but I think that it wouldn’t even last a second against one of this forest’s weakest creatures. To start with, it held no awareness of its surroundings.

It also looked arrogant, not putting anything except humans in its eyes. The creature seemed to think that it was far higher up in the society of animals than any other creature in the forest. Every time it took a step, it only barely missed stepping on a poisonous plant. I think that that was the doing of Feeh.

I felt a tiny bit of mana fluctuations in the air whenever the creature barely missed stepping on something bad. Even though Feeh hadn’t taught me magic at that time, I read about it and had practiced sensing magic. I knew that if Feeh hadn’t had the wind push the animal’s hooves to one side, it may have stepped onto something poisonous.

At the moment when we saw Feeh bring the creature, I had been playing with Georgina, Fenny, and two of the Piffy Lugs. As soon as the Piffy Lugs saw that a large animal was approaching them, both took out their claws and dug holes into the ground. They then escaped, for they were very shy.

The two Lendren Runner siblings stayed put, though. At that moment in time, both were only slightly bigger than me, and the difference was only four inches. Feeh quickly saw us looking at him and gave a wave. I waved back at him, of course.

“What is that creature?” I asked Feeh because I was curious about what it was.

“This animal is called a horse. I had him pushed onto me,” grumbled Feeh,”even though I didn’t want him. Who likes such an arrogant horse? Besides, it is completely dumb! Aside from knowing how to race, it knows nothing else! It can’t even translate what we’re saying because it doesn’t have enough wrinkles on its brain to be smart! Its brain is probably a smooth brain!” (A/N: It is said that the more surface area you have in your brain, the more knowledge you are able to learn. To get that surface area, your brain has wrinkles on it. A person with a lot of folds and wrinkles on their brain usually has a higher IQ than someone who doesn’t have as many wrinkles. So basically, calling someone “smooth brained” means to say that they are dumb. An insult, it is.)

“Then why didn’t you refuse it, Feeh?”

“Well, I owed that person a favor, so I HAD to. She’d been tired of this horse and just needed it off of her hands. Coincidentally, she found me while I was out shopping. That reminds me, here.”

As Feeh handed me a small pouch to me, I grabbed it and went into the hut. I went to the top floor. The top floor held three rooms: my room, Feeh’s room, and a storage room/office. The storage room was just like one of our many rooms in the hut. It was in another dimension, just like the library and my closet.

The pouch that Feeh handed to me actually contained everything he had bought. Even though it was only about a foot long, it held many things such as food, clothing, necessities, etc.. As you guessed it, the pouch had Space-time Magic casted on it. The opening of the pouch was a gate that led to a dimension that preserved the foods and clothing that Feeh bought.

How exactly did the dimension preserve the foods? It was because of Space-time Magic. The dimension was created using the “Space” part of Space-time Magic. The “time” part of Space-time Magic allows you to stop the time in a place, accelerate it, or just slow it. Feeh stopped time inside of the dimension so as to not have the food spoil.

I quickly took out everything and went back to the front yard of the hut. Feeh and the horse had come along a dirt path that we’d created so that it would be easier to go in and out of the forest. When I came out of the door, I saw that there was a tense atmosphere between the Lendren Runners and the horse.

The horse looked at the Lendren Runners as if they were garbage, and the Lendren Runners likewise. It looked as if they were about to butt heads with each other. I was also a bit angry at the horse, since it was basically dissing the creatures that I’d been raising using its look. However, I kept a calm mind because it was given to Feeh by someone. I think that Feeh was a very introverted person, and didn’t have many friends. I didn’t want to harm something that Feeh was given by one of his friends, who are low in number.

In fact, I’d never even heard Feeh talk about friends before. I didn’t mention that fact to Feeh though. While I’d been having these thoughts, Feeh had already come close to the hut.

“Come to think of it, I haven’t built the horse a stable yet. Let’s just have him live in the stable with the Lendren Runners and I’ll make it a stable tomorrow, eh?” said Feeh even while knowing that the Lendren Runners were already on bad terms with the horse.

“Oh, okay. Will that be alright with you, Fenny and Georgina?”

“Whutevea Camar say!”

“Yus! Whutevea Fenny sayd!”

“I guess that it’ll be alright then.”

Feeh gave a little mischievous smile and nodded his head. After that, he led the horse to the stable in which the Lendren Runners lived in. The hut was originally meant for the Piffy Lugs, but they preferred to live underground so it wasn’t used by them. The Lendren Runners were adopted, and it became their home.

There were two beds made out of hay, and a personal bathroom on two sides of the stable. Both bathrooms had a shower and a toilet. Each worked the same way as the ones that Feeh and I use. However, there were a few minor adjustments to the design so that the two Lendren Runners could use them.

The toilet was much larger than the ones we have. They were the kinds that you sit on, just like ours. Each one was about six feet in diameter. The toilets were flushable, but without the lever to push because the Lendren Runners’ wings couldn’t be substituted for hands. That was why there were magic arrays that flushed the things down the pipes that lead to the dimension where all of our trash, wastes, and unneeded things are located.

Magic arrays are basically just magic engravings but are a bit more complicated. While engravings use complete magic words to be used, arrays are made up of bits and pieces of magic words. For example, only half of a magic word would be used to create a magic array, while a complete magic word would be used to create an engraving. Making a magic array is much simpler than creating an engraving. Although, the effect is also cut in half.

To flush, you just need to wave your hand, and in this case your wing, and tada! The shower is the same way. It is about 18 feet wide and 12 feet long. The water comes out when you wave something in front of the handle.

The night was approaching on the day that Feeh had brought the horse over, and everyone was tired. Fenny and Georgina went back to their stable, along with the horse. That night, everything was peaceful.

The next morning, when Feeh went to check up on the horse, it was gone! There was a bit of red on the hay, but I wasn’t told that until a few weeks later.

Feeh told everyone, "Okay! It seems that the horse is gone! Let’s go find it! Try your best.”

His encouragement was not that good, and he was even smiling in glee when he said that the horse was gone. In the end, no one found out where the horse went. When I went to feed the Lendren Runners some breakfast, both said that they were full. I wonder why?

Argh! Do I have hyperthermia or something since I keep remembering things that have already happened in my life? (A/N: Hyperthermia= A condition that allows an individual to vividly remember things that have happened to them in their life.)

“Well, do you girls have any suggestions for what we should play?”

“Hmmmmm, whut abut going fer a ride?”

“Fenny agree wit Gergina suggeston!”

“Okay then! How are we going to ride, though? Are we going to race, or play hide and seek in the middle of the forest? Also, who am I going to ride out of the two of you?”

““ME!!””

“What if we play a game to decide?”

“Sounds god.”

“Sounds noice!”

Hmmm, what should the challenge be, I wonder? I want to make it a game of chance so that both players have an equal chance to win. A lot of the choices are limited because their bodies are not those of humans. Let’s see……..no that won’t work…… not that one either… nope….. that may work!

Without saying anything to the twins, I slowly moved towards the haystack. Making sure that they couldn’t see what I was doing, I pulled out a straw of hay. I then snapped it in half, with one half being longer than the other. I then made it look as if both were the same length in my hands.

“Okay, so pick a straw from one of my hands. One is longer than the other, and whoever gets the long one gets ridden by me. This is a complete game of chance. Which one are you going to choose?”

As I held both of my hands up at the same time, the twins looked at them intently. The longer one was in my right hand while the shorter one was in my left hand. All I need to do now is to have them choose one hand.

“One the count of three, choose your hand! One…… two……. THREE!”

Georgina and Fenny both rushed towards my right hand. I didn’t think of this, did I?

“Why Fenny chose this han?!”

“Why Gergina chose this han?!”

“Copycat!”

“Nu uh! Fenny copycat!”

“Settle down girls, settle down. It was my mistake for not thinking about this problem. It’s my fault, so I’m sorry!”

““No Camar fault!””

Heheheh! Got ‘em! You see, Fenny and Georgina really care a lot about me for some reason. Parental love? Well, whatever the reason is, they will follow my directions. If I’m ever sad, they will stop what they’re doing and will comfort me. They will even stop squabbling with each other.  That is why I pretend to be sad whenever they are about to fight. I am not mean nor manipulative, so I don’t do this at every moment in time. Oh, they seemed to have stopped their argument!

“Hey girls, what if we try another idea? What about playing hide and seek? Can we just do that instead of going for a ride?”

“If Camar say so.”

“Yus. If Camar say so.”

“Well then, that’s settled! But it won’t be that fun playing with just us three. How about inviting the Piffy Lugs as well? Isn’t that a great idea?”

“Okay,” said Fenny.

“No powblem,” Georgina told me.

“Let’s go then! Hey, Diffy, Miffy, Tiffy, Giffy, and Laurine! Where are you?!” I shouted out into the air. Sure, I looked dumb, but that was the only way to get the attention of the Piffy Lugs since they live underground.

After about a minute of waiting, I saw the ground in front of me start to tremble. Then little brown heads started popping up from the ground. When every head had stopped popping up, I had seven pairs of eyes on me, two pairs from the Lendren Runners, and five from the Piffy Lugs.

“Why'dtcha call us here, boss?” Miffy asked me. He was sprouting a look that seemed as if he’d just awoken from sleep.

“Well, I wanted to play a game and decided I want to play with everyone. The game I wanted to play was hide and seek. It wouldn’t be fun with just Georgina, Fenny, and me, so I chose to ask you five to also play. What do you think?”

The minute I’d said the word “game” the five siblings started to straighten up. Everyone had a serious expression on their faces. Even the sleepy-sounding Miffy had completely woken up. The Piffy Lugs are competitive. The reason for their competitiveness is because of Feeh and my influence.

As you know, we had accepted the Piffy Lugs to be like our retainers. To be our retainers, Feeh and I needed to give them prizes and the like. After thinking about the potential prizes we could give out, we’d decided that the prizes would be in the form of coupons. If any Piffy Lug got ten coupons, they would be able to ask us for any favor that they wanted. No matter what— as long as it didn’t involve harming someone or something— Feeh and I would have to accept.

After thinking of the prizes, we needed to think of how to obtain the prizes. A normal retainer would be able to gain prizes after accomplishing a major thing like winning in a war or developing a territory in a magnificent way, etc.. That wouldn’t work for us, so we decided to make it so that if you won any two games you would get one point.

The above words were very vague, so let me go into a bit more detail. (A/N: Think of battle music playing in the background for the rest of the chapter.) The exact rules are:

If a Piffy Lug is ever challenged to two games and wins both, they’d get one point. When the Piffy Lug gathers four points, they will get a coupon. These coupons can be used to trade for favors.

A Piffy Lug can only challenge another Piffy Lug once per week and can only accept two challenges per week. If you lose a game your points will be deducted by one.

After one Piffy Lug gets enough points (four points) to trade for a coupon, everyone’s points will be brought back to zero and will have to restart. If by any chance no Piffy Lug has gained enough points to trade for a coupon in two months, all points will be brought back to zero.

If you win against a human in a game (Either me or Feeh), you get two points. If you win against a Piffy Lug in a game, you get one point. If you lose against a human in a game, you get two points deducted from your total. If you have no points in total and have to deduct points, they will go into the negatives.

If the game you are playing is a one versus one, the winning side gets the point(s). If it is a regular multiplayer game where it is one versus many, you gain one point on winning and lose one point when you lose. Only one person will gain points in a regular multiplayer game— the winner. All other players shall have a point deducted. If there is a human player, you will gain two points if you are the winner, and will have two points deducted if the human won and everyone else lost.

If the game you are playing is a multiplayer game with teams, the winners will all gain two points each and the losers will each have two points deducted from their totals. By any chance the multiplayer game with teams includes a human, both sides will gain three points each if they win and will have three points deducted each if they lose.

If you get coupons and save them until you have ten, those coupons will be counted as numbering twenty coupons. However, if you cannot attain ten coupons in a time limit of six months, all of your saved up coupons shall be returned to zero.

You may challenge another person to a game even if you’ve already challenged a person to a game. In that situation, even if you win you get no points added. You also get no points deducted. If the challenged party still hasn’t used up their challenge, then they may earn points upon winning and lose points upon losing. If the person with the challenge left wins, they will get to challenge one more person, being able to challenge two people in that week. If the person with a challenge loses, they won’t be able to challenge another person.

No challenge is needed for a multiplayer game with teams. Humans may ignore all the rules. The Lendren Runners may also ignore all the rules. If you have a Lendren Runner as your opponent in any game, you will gain no points as well as lose no points.

The rules may be a bit complicated but are pretty efficient. We can change or alter them if there is a majority vote on doing that. The Lendren Runners are included in that vote as well as the Piffy Lugs.

While I was thinking these thoughts, Diffy, Miffy, Tiffy, Giffy, and Laurine were all talking amongst themselves. After talking for about five minutes, Tiffy replied by saying, "Okay, we agree to this challenge, boss! However, may you be clearer in how this game of hide and seek is laid out? For example, will we be able to form teams? Change spots? Are there any restrictions? What about the time limit? How many games will we play?”

Tiffy was the brains of the group of Piffy Lugs. That didn’t mean that everyone else was dumb, though! It’s just that Tiffy was smarter than them by a bit. Kind of like those people that may be smarter than you.

“Since you agreed to play, I’ll sort out the layout of the game.”

Let the game begin!

A/N: I hope you enjoyed the chapter! Now, for the fun fact!

“A pterodactyl by the name of Cryodrakon boreas had a wingspan that could reach up to thirty-three feet! That is about as wide as an F-16 jet!” exclaimed CadmarLegend-Senpai to his readers on that specific day.

I want to do one more fact, in case you already knew the one above.

“Your nose and ears never stop growing! Yes, it is true! They’re the only body parts that don’t stop even after all of your other features have long stopped growing!” assured CadmarLegend-Senpai to his readers who get smarter when they read his stories.

Ahhhh, I’m having too much fun! Just one more! Just one!

“Pigeon poop in England is the property of the Crown! I know it’s hard to believe, but in the 18th century, King George I decreed all pigeon poop as the property of the Crown. He did this because pigeon poop can be used to create gunpowder,” told CadmarLegend-Senpai one last time to his readers. (For today)

Which fact was your favorite? Have a great rest of the day….. or night! Either one. Au revoir!
