Science diaries of curiousss (and not mad) scientist snek, part 1:

Today, we are going to journey into the mysterious world of mana. Unfortunately, there were some obstacles, but SCIENCE prevailed, and now with our COMPLETLY WILLING subject, we are going to start extracting… samples. Mwahaha, oh excuse me.

The goals for today are as follows:

1. Confirm previous observations - there is mana and we can manipulate it
2. What are the affinities of mana inside the sample?
3. Can we affect the elemental types of mana inside the sample
4. Does manipulation still work after the sample dries out?

If possible With time I should also find out… (Everything is possible with SSSCIENCE) How exactly can I manipulate mana? I can throw a ball, by using my arm, I can kindle my soul, because I AM the soul. So what exactly works on mana? Especially when I have no mana core? Yes, the skill of mana manipulation, but what is the tool, the means, the connection it uses?

I looked at the wound once again. I could see that the moment I got hurt again, my soul itself slightly shivered, it’s edges moving away from the place I was cut. (“I wonder if there are soul-mirrors, if you want to look at yourself”)

Small specs of mana were travelling around. From the knowledge that somehow soaked my brain during the dream escapades, I know that mana has affinity, and that available spells depend on it. So the question is, what is the affinity of mana that comes from the surroundings?

I had only vague knowledge of what mana manipulation is capable of in this world, but I was nearly certain moving related affinity objects should be possible. And so, the vague understanding of mana manipulation in my mind, I tried my best to use the little specks of mana to move grains of sand just next to it. I concentrated as hard as I could, activated related skills and…

And in the meantime the wound closed again. “Ssssssss!”. Isn’t this too fast?

… I mean how the hell would I know? I’ve never gotten really hurt before. This is a world of magic after all, and I am a non human beast, it would make sense that I heal faster than before.

But… what’s this?! Indeed the greatest discoveries tend to happen by accident! While the blood in the scab itself no longer responded well to my cries, the blood inside covered veins did!

It does make sense! If the hypothesis claiming that my skin and scales are what is responsible for defending my body from alien mana, then a freshly closed wound, on which skin is not yet regrown, would protect it far less, and so, let some of it in!

(“Like alien bacteria?”)

… Indeed. Evolution is anything but inefficient. I suspect, even in this wild world, there is a reason why my body wastes resources to produce most likely expensive protection. Getting some kind of mana infection is most likely no joke…

(“And having one's mind explode is?”)

… So, as usual, the choice is between multiple dangerous options. What to do, what to do…

(“Let’s wait for a better opportunity! We still have time!”)
