3rd Maelach of Desariel 1236

Frux's POV

Although I said that we will follow the girl... Sel was it. I still feel concerned. She is not human, she is a demi-human, and a lot of the church's books said that demi-humans are all bloodthirsty monsters that actively hunt for human blood... But somehow this girl is different from those books... it can't be that the church is wrong right?

" Sel~ How long more do we need to walk. The darkness is making me scared." Flux said. Shut up stupid brother of mine. But what he is worried about is not wrong either. To avoid detection, we are holding Sel's hands in order to navigate through the forest. We are avoiding using any light sources to avoid detection. But somehow Sel is able to see through it perfectly and walk through the night. It could be due to her demi-human abilities but that's not worrying. What is worrying is however since I and Flux know she is a demi-human, she starts to keep an eye on us and is always prepared that we would hurt her and prepares to fight back. This would be bad for future cooperation. If what the holy text said is wrong... then it would be a good way to befriend her and attempt to stop this war between races. It is not that I am a heretic for not believing the holy text, but somehow I feel that the holy text is already altered... it says to treat all living with care, yet treated the demi-humans as filth. It is pretty conflicting.

" We are here. Don't make too much noise." Sel said as she stops. Where are we? It looks like we are in the middle of nowhere. Sel went to pick up something from the ground and lifted it up.

"It's a hatch???" Flux said in a very shocked tone. Even I am shocked too. If it isn't because Sel lifted it, I wouldn't even think that there would be a hatch here! This is supreme craftsmanship!

" Come in, don't be too noisy, I don't like noisy people," Sel said as she signaled us to climb down the ladders. Flux goes in first and I go in second, but before I am going to land, Flux starts blocking the way.

" Oi stupid brother move! I can't come down if you block the spot." I said as I kicked him to move him away from the ladder.

" Just what is it that makes you so..." I get why he stopped moving now... the entire "hideout" looks like a dungeon. With stone brick walls and floors. The pillars are lighted up with some sort of metal that is glowing brightly, making this place doesn't look like we are underground at all.

" Stop gawking, I will convert one of the storage rooms to make your rooms. Should I make individual rooms for you two or you two sleep in the same room," Sel asked. When did she come down? Oh... she can fly, I forgot that.

" I think either will be fine, as long as we have a place to live it will be fine," I said while replying.

" I will say first. In here, I eat human meat, so if you guys do not want that, I will dig another area for you to plant food. Or you can choose to eat my meat until they finish growing, your choice, I am not forcing you. I do have other food but they aren't much and I am not sure how much do you guys eat so I won't rely on them to provide you two food." Sel said. So demi-humans do hunt humans after all... but wait... something isn't right...

" What do you mean by your meat? How do you even give us your meat to eat?" I asked Sel. Which surprisingly, she immediately deposited her armor at the armor rack in front of the hideout, showing her little body... and she did what normally is unimaginable for a normal human... she sliced a part of her arm and gave it to me....

" There, this is my meat. According to Kent, it should help with regeneration, but I don't know how it works for humans. If you guys want I could get more but you will have to wait for a while." Sel replied as if this is normal... just what did this girl have to endure that she has to eat her own meat in order to survive... I think I shouldn't impose ourselves on her... it hurts me to see a girl like her hurting herself like this.

" I think we will go with planting our own crops... thank you..." Flux suddenly said. Oh, you are back, welcome back brother.

" Very well then, follow me, I will bring you to your room," Sel said as she starts walking through the tunnel. This place is amazing... the bricks are made so perfect... all of the single bricks are the same sizes... and this lamp. It doesn't even require fuel. It just keeps glowing indefinitely and it seems that Sel doesn't even need to refuel them... After passing the first set of doors... or hallways, Sel told us that the left side is where she stored all the wood and the right side for all the stone. We continue walks as we passed the second set of doors. The left side is empty so she will convert it to our room, the other side is for the equipment that she obtained from her previous raids. We continued as we went through the third set of doors. This time, the left one is for metals and the right side is for food. She told us to follow her inside.

Inside the room, I can see barrels placed in a line through the entire room.

" The last two rows are all human meat. For the rest search yourself. There should be berries, bread, wheat, rice, and a lot of stuff that I got from my raids. Do note that the only seasoning I have is rock salt. So don't come and complain to me if the seasoning is insufficient. I normally only eat grilled meat with only a bit of salt so I never care about these. You humans never gave me enough breathing room to start doing things on my own." Sel said as she pointed towards the last two rows of barrels. Why are you storing food within barrels though? I guess I shouldn't be picky...

" Follow me," Sel said simply and continue walking. Me and Flux following behind. The last room is a large room, probably the largest among every room here. Inside the room is pretty simple... there is only a bed along with a table with a chair. There is nothing else within there.

" Don't judge. Unlike you guys I have my methods of preparing stuff, so I don't need things like stoves or grinders. A bed is what I only needed and a nice table and chair to eat on." Sel said as if she knows what am I thinking.

" Well, this is really simple for a single girl to live at. But I guess with time us both would probably be able to help you improve the decoration. We will see what happen then." I said to her.

" Hrmm, there isn't enough chairs... wait a bit ok," Sel said as she went outside of the room and somehow come back after a few minutes. After that, she somehow created two chairs out of thin air next to the table. And it is not just chairs, she even made a large stone mug along with some wooden cups and placed it on the table. Just how is she making these stuff?

" Because currently there is no stove, I will be cooking for you tonight, or morning. It is probably around 1 hour until sunrise. I will refit the room to be your personal rooms and add some basic furniture. What would you two like? As long as it is not too complex I could probably make it. " Sel said as she start to look at both of us.

" Oh well, you two think of what to add. I will be preparing your room and food now. After we eat, you better tell me your story. " Sel said as she walks away... This girl is too full of mysteries... well that is the same as all demi-humans. Even the holy text is also full of mysteries.

" So what do you think of her, lil bro," Flux said suddenly.

" I don't really know... she is pretty wary of us, but at the same time... she is a bit naive. If it was me, I wouldn't bring strangers to my own hideout, especially if they are known to kill demi-humans on sight." I said.

" You know. Maybe she has a lot of hideouts and this is only one of them. Even though I could feel she placed a lot of work in making this, the contents feel a bit lackluster. She said she does raids onto the human forts so she should already have a stock load of equipment. Yet there isn't really that much within here. Plus, she has the power to obliterate both of us. " Flux said. That is true... she has the power to fight against more than a hundred of those heretics, with only the two of us, we would be a pretty easy prey, she would probably be able to squash us as if we are some sort of fruit.

" But there is one thing that I am worried about." Flux said again, this time I can feel that he is genuinely worried about something.

" This girl is already at the border of insanity. She literally just cut off her flesh for food... if that isn't insane, I don't know what is anymore." Flux said. That is true... this is the first time I can see someone so nonchalantly cut off a part of her own flesh just to feed others...

" Well what can we do, we either live here as a comrade of hers and fight the demon cult or we stay here as her hostage or even her spare rations," I said.

" That is if she is willing to help against the demon cult. From what I observed, she hates humans a lot, but doesn't really discriminate between the good ones and the bad ones. After all, if she hates all humans, you and I would be dead before we know it!" Flux said while laughing. Oi, this isn't a laughing matter you know...

" If I were to treat you two as spare rations, I wouldn't take you guys here in the first place. I would directly butcher you two before we even went out of the city. After all, I don't need two heavy baggage while flying." Sel's voice suddenly appeared. When did she reached here? There is no sound at all!

" Here, food. I don't have many soft bread here but there is some hard bread I got from the forts, also, dragon meat pot-au-feu. Well, I said pot-au-feu but it's just stewed meat along with some other veggies. Hope you like it. Any idea what you want for your room? It's done already. Just need to add the furniture and we are done." Sel said while bringing in a large bowl containing the stew along with some hard bread. But... dragon meat... it means her own flesh right?

" Why are you using your own flesh to cook though? Doesn't it hurt?" Flux asked.

" I'm used to it. I have endured even painful stuff before. Slicing a part of my arm swiftly doesn't hurt much compared to that." She said as she sat down, make another 3 small bowls, 3 spoons, and also a ladle.

"Let's eat first. If you two are interested in talking about your story now then feel free. I won't be talking about mine until you said about yours and after dinner. I am sure if you two heard my story, you might vomit. Then again, it's not like you won't after eating. But at least you won't be vomiting on an empty stomach." Sel said as she sat down and start eating. Me and Flux are just staring at her like idiots... this girl... just what happened to her...

" Don't think too much Frux, better eat it while it's hot." Flux said suddenly. Well, I guess so. I took a spoonful of the soup and drank it... Damn it... this is some good-tasting soup.

" What did you put in here, it tastes quite good," I asked. This definitely isn't just salt and vegetables.

" Dragon meat." Flux said while still gulping down the soup with bread.

" Never cooked like this before, only put salt, vegetables and my meat. That is all," Sel said while she drinks the soup slowly. So I guess the meat is the secret ingredient huh... But still isn't it wrong to eat your own flesh...

" I've been to that stage before, don't worry. Sometimes when it's a life or death situation, you are forced to do this. I'm not exactly a herbivore so I can't just live by eating grass and leaves. I wouldn't have enough energy to move if I only eat those." Sel said as if she read my mind again.

"It's just I can generalize your worry at stuff. As I said, stop worrying." Sel once again added... am I that easy to read...

" You know, you are quite different from the holy texts, Sel. In the holy text, it is said that demi-humans attack humans indiscriminately and won't even give mercy. Yet you here are sitting at the same table as us eating... even giving us your own flesh." Flux said.

" At first I also wanted to kill everyone. But then there are always some good few people within the bad ones. You two also didn't attack me on sight either. So why should I? So far the ones I have killed are those that attacked me just because I am a draconian. Plus, Flux helped me at the plaza today without wanting something from me, and flux helped me escape from those fanatics. Plus, from what I heard from Kent, it is you humans who killed them mercilessly, bombing their entire homeland into smithereens using destructive weapons, and even used inhumane weapons against them." Sel said. Wait what? We bombed the demi-human continent? I never heard of that before. The holy text said that the demi-humans in an act of defense, sacrificed a lot of humans in order to destroy the human camps... What is going on... which side is true which one is false...

" Don't ask me about history stuff. The most I know is from my friend Kent. He is a native that got caught by you humans. When I know what's going on, I am already within chains in this continent. So I don't know much." Sel said.

" You mentioned this Kent guy a lot. Who is he? Where is he now? Since you said you are friends he should be near here too right?" Flux said. I have a bad feeling about this.

" You humans killed him. You used him as a hostage to catch me, then threw him into the sea. I don't know if there is hope he is alive or not, but I wouldn't hope for it." Sel said with a sad and angry voice. Damn... this isn't what I expected...

It seems the holy text is changed from the past? What is going on?
Sorry for the late upload. Another chapter is en route today too. Stay tuned,
