Second Arc (His Art of War) - 134. Pontus' Royal Scandal II
Again, Angel could see her hesitation. That's why he concluded that Jyne was actually still confused about what happened. And what she knew was that her father and brother changed because of her stepmother.
"I will deliver your letter to His Majesty. But I think he will need sometime to deal with this matter," said Angel. It could be that the change was due to the king's love for his wife and the prince was too happy to have a new mother. If it happened because of it, he couldn't do anything. But one thing for sure, it reminded him, despite his love for Rose, he must not change and put his kingdom interests first.
Jyne nodded again.
"Thank you, sir." Although she hoped Angel would take action immediately after he got the letter, she knew it was impossible. Moreover, she believed Angel had to take care of many things after conquering so many kingdoms.
"Tomorrow, two of my subordinates will come to protect you. They will come as your brothers and wear hunter clothes." Investigating other kingdoms, especially regarding a personal scandal like this was not easy. This was even more difficult than finding out about another kingdom's war plans. And since he hadn't decided to help her yet, he couldn't bring Jyne to Euphorion. Therefore, what he could do was to keep Jyne's safety and send two of his trusted soldiers to guard her while his spies were looking for information in Pontus.
"May I know what your ranking is?" Previously, she thought Angel was an ordinary soldier since there wasn't any badge on his collar, but since he said that, it meant the king had entrusted an army to him.
"Pardon me, Your Highness. But I can't tell anyone about my rank, because it's related to my mission," replied Angel calmly.
"I understand ..." she couldn't say anything else since she had no position to negotiate. Besides, she was quite grateful since it meant she could get protection. She couldn't deny that the previous incident made her afraid, especially when she realized that the rebels had already set their eyes on her.
"There you are," Rose's voice came from his other side. Angel and Jyne turned to see the origin of the voice and got up from their seats.
"I thought you are gone," said Rose as her feet stepped toward them.
"Don't worry. I won't leave you here alone, Your Highness," replied Angel. Since he had allowed Rose to come with him, he had to make sure Rose returned to Fortaare Town safely.
"Good evening, Your Highness," said Jyne, her head bowed as Rose approached them. She tried to hide from Rose as best she could since even though they had never met, she was afraid that Rose would realize that Jyne was also a princess like her .
Rose replied with a slight nod.
"Are you alright? Did the rebels hurt you?" she remembered how the rebels grabbed Jyne's hair roughly before.
"I'm fine, Your Highness," said Jyne, without daring to raise her head.
Rose frowned since she caught a strange gesture from Jyne who seemed to be avoiding her. She had just opened her mouth to ask, but Angel quickly noticed and interrupted her.
"Your Highness, how's the baby?" asked Angel.
Rose's face brightened at once.
"Though the baby is a little small, both the mother and the child are safe. Moreover it's a baby boy. I'm sure he will be a strong man and replace his father to protect his mother," she said. She couldn't help feeling sad considering she couldn't save the child's father in Fortaare Town, but at least she could fulfill his last wish and managed to help her family.
Angel knew Rose didn't know that the child's father was still alive, but he decided to keep quiet since he didn't want Rose to suspect him.
"Since all of our missions are over, should we go back to the town now?" he asked.
"Is that too late for that?" said Rose with a frown. It was midnight now and they had to pass through the dark forest to get back. And she was sure it was not a good idea.
"But, there is no place to spend the night here," said Angel. In that village, there were no inns, while the houses' spaces were too cramped for them to stay over. Even though he didn't mind sleeping in the open space since he used to do it when he was a hunter, it wasn't proper for a princess like Rose to do it.
"You can stay with me," offered Jyne. Even though the place where she lived was only a small house built by villagers with some simple materials. But it was enough to accommodate two other people. Also, since she spent a lot of her time knitting, she had a few more blankets in her house.
"Thank you for your kindness. I shall accept your offer," said Rose with a slight nod, showing her gratitude. This was the first time she had to spend the night at a commoner's house, moreover a villager. Of course this would be a new experience for her.
While Angel could only sigh once more since he didn't expect his light walk to take longer than he expected.
'I need to send Magic Messengers to Frost and Flare to inform them about this.'

Just asking, why did you reupload as a new story instead of editing all chapters?
Several chapters changed. I even added some, such as chapter 0, the tainted Holy Knight chapter, the bad rumors chapter, the Betrayal chapter, the Overthrow The King chapter, the Heart family poison chapter (Ilex didn't tell Ivetta that King of Euphorion was Angel) . I also wrote about the ancient agreement of the Andromeda warriors royal families which made the basis why Angel can't kill the royal family recklessly and make Ilex said that Angel suicide (so his hand is clean) . I can't deny it, I'm a little hopeful for my old readers to be able to read the previous chapters especially early chapters (if they're free, of course) but I know asking it, is too much since there are more than 200 chapters. Also I had a bad experience when I edited the first DM, where my chapter didn't appear in the last update. Also edited it will make no one knows what has changed and some old comments will be irrelevant. But deleted it, will bring big problem since not all readers happy if I delete their comments. So I kinda don't want to experience it

I won't recommend it if you don't like conflict loyalties things. Also this is non smut, no fluff romance (slow pace and subplot), the MC is 180 ° different from TIS and DKH's MC (from 200 chapters the MC only get a single kiss, while my other MCs already 'done' it at least almost a half of total chapters) and a little bit slow pace for character development since I wrote the MC past for 20 chapters.
@Nanakawaichan i am more then welcome to all the above you counted it just... bit ridiculous? things that shouldnt make sense... do? like watching kids acting. take Angel betrayal for example. justification for his treason was ridiculous and proof was laughable and yet it worked? why a ball fits a cube shaped hole? intelligence of characters much less then your Icubus characters. hence i assume its earlier work? speaking of pace, it much faster then Incubus though shorter chapters. regards to power trip... it just feels too easy? everything MC wants happens as if finger snap. as if there no tension? something missing but i cant put my finger on it
1st person and 3rd person PoV play the role. So less tension. About what the MC wants that why I said this is more internal struggle and conflict loyalties things. Not external struggle, play tricks and good strategy is the key.

@Nanakawaichan honestly i struggle to find much similarities. "weird" names throwing me off to much and its hard to keep track who's who or maybe i am missing a lot of context. i DO see invasion of Asteria here and some other tid bits. admit i have little knowledge of asian history but in europe situation with betrayal be like everyone knows its bs but pretends its true. but here its just two people and everyone ate it...
@Lachlann As long that person is in power, he can create public opinion at easy by rumors and such. He can twist the story, the truth and the fact. Especially,in medieval times. By it, he can spark people and nobles' anger by playing victims or a righteous person. Most asian care about their reputation especially nobles, example the noblewomen choose die rather being rape and once a man become a traitor the choice is being exile or dead. So once a person reputation being tainted he can't come back.
@Nanakawaichan see i can take commoners but nobles? very same nobles who's bread and butter are cloak and dagger? king assassinated by his brother, he tries to kill late king son by sending him on suicide missions, after Angel wins crown competition he is imprisoned and tortured, he escapes but guard give chase and kill him while using his cut off or not hand to "confess" usurper! cried nobles and started revolt with Owen in lead to dethrone evil king who's greed worth spilling own family blood. are they really that uneducated to miss such chance? revolts a thing as shown with Zephyrus. why Angel is acceptable traitor on hearsay yet uncle is innocent on common motives with 4th grader lie? then when truth comes out uncle still did "right" thing and Angel still a traitor after surviving assassination? how can you betray a traitor(uncle)?

Wait a sec. King Gervis didn't kill Angel's father. I never wrote that. It's the shadow AKA an expert dark magic user who killed him.

When the nobles found out, they even think to invite Angel back to Asteria. He cleared his name,but he can't go back since he already took the Moonfall family name and swore to protect Euphorion.
@Nanakawaichan no you didnt wrote that. i just made a lie that another noble could use as reason to dethrone Gervis. when was his name cleared? where was public announcement of all the Gervis crimes and Angle's innocence? all Gervis got is slap on a wrist for killing own bloodline and nuking a city. commoners of Euphorion should be outraged by such resolution. there no "people's will" so to say? but i guess we will have to leave it at "disagree" again eh? for such ruthless and bloody theme this just too... cuddly/fluffy
That's about second Arc. I don't think it's cuddly but also not that gorey since I always try to make my novel balance. You may disagree since I already caught our historical and culture difference is quite high. But remember Gervis crime is made based on his fear and his duty to protect his family throne. Though the MC is his own nephew, because of the dark power after he received the crystal, Gervis thought he is someone else. Their family is Holy Knight, so have a dark power that similar to the dark king that their ancestor killed in the past make so many people doubt the MC identity. Also the MC hair color is changed from golden yellow to dark blue (while there's no hair coloring in that time and it's permanent). Gervis also saw how the MC kill a high mage with just a stare when he was 7 years old.
And for killing the other king, the MC himself want to kill them, but he can't. The ancient agreement has stated all royal families (8 warriors of Andromeda) can't kill each other. Also if the MC kill the other royal families, he will accuse as the dark king descendant. The other kingdoms maybe attack his kingdom by fear and in the end it will make his people suffer. Moreover the first one he killed is the Holy Knight family, the MC himself have that dark power and he is the only king that take the throne not based on bloodline (He take by usurp the previous king) so it's a perfect reason to attack his kingdom. Thus he bring the new agreement for stripping the military power and a deal if the royal families try to kill him/attack his kingdom again, he have the right to execute him and of course they have to pay the compensation.
With this, the next time they tried to kill him, he have the right to execute the other royal family without create another war and the other kingdoms can't use it to attack his kingdom.
@Nanakawaichan i am working on it. its bit hard to find good text from SA and already have found some questionable conclusions. Abhi and that Chakrawhat formation... it says morale of story to not give up and die for family but i'd say morale is to listen to your teacher. Abhi didnt listen till the end and not knowing how to get out he died. ill try to find stories in more detail since all i get is couple paragraphs here and there
