Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 73. An Elite Soldier in The King's Chamber II

"Any information is fine. Like the location, people, kingdom or any hint," she tried to bargain. She knew Angel had asked her to wait, but she couldn't help her curiosity. She wanted to know how Ivetta was doing. What was their plan and who was their next target.

"Forgive me, Your Highness. I can't," Angel answered.

Rose bit her lower lip. Her instinct told Rai's mission to have something to do with the rebels. She had guessed this since Rai's previous mission was to save Ecrin Village. So his next mission should have something to do with it.
"At least... Can you tell me, is His Majesty really serious about dealing with the rebels?" She tried her luck.

"What makes you think he doesn't take this matter seriously?" he returned her question with another one.

His words indicated that her guess was correct, that Angel had just ordered him to investigate the rebels.
"If he's serious... Why did he keep everything from me? Why didn't he involve me in this?" Her trace of disappointment was clear from it. She was very grateful that Angel wanted to help her kingdom. But she also wanted to be involved in all of this more. Not only to carry out his plans, but also to make them. She was the princess of Zephyrus, she could give him a lot of useful information.

"He will, Your Highness. But not now. He is still considering a lot of things. He needs more information before he tells you. So I hope you can be patient," Angel tried to explain.

"But maybe he can get that information from me." Again she tried to bargain.

"If he needs information from you, I'm sure he will come to you."

"But maybe I can give him a hint or two. For example, I know all of Ivetta's properties. Although I'm not sure she's there, the king might be able to get a hint from checking those places," Rose didn't want to lose.

"His Majesty had ordered to search all the places and confiscate their wealth when he made the order. But we didn't find anything," Angel explained. It was a basic thing and the first thing he did as soon as he was able to get evidence of Ivetta's crimes.

"Then--"

Before she could finish her words, Angel interrupted her.
"His Majesty has also checked all of her friends and all people she has frequent contact with," he added quickly as if he could read her mind. Not only that, he even ordered the arrest of several people.

Again, his words made Rose press her lips. As Rose tried to find another way to get information from him, Angel spoke again.
"His Majesty is waiting for me. I have to go now." He realized how high Rose's curiosity was, but telling her these half baked plans wasn't his habit. Of course, that didn't mean he was going to keep this a secret forever. But even if he wanted to talk about his counterattack, at least he wanted to gather more information first. Not a piece of a raw plan like this. He knew to mislead information was worse than not knowing anything.

What he knew from Ilex's plan was the attack if Ivetta's plan failed. On the other hand, Ivetta's plan also depended on the Magic Users. Surprisingly, Ilex did not say clearly about these two interconnected grand plans.

When Angel had just walked a few steps, Rose stopped him.
"Oh, wait!"

Angel stopped and turned to face her.

"Please keep my ability a secret," Rose reminded him since she didn't know what else to say.

"I understand, Your Highness. Good night." After that, he came out of the king's chamber. His presence shocked the guards. Moreover, they did not see him enter. But he quickly closed the door and took off his mask. The guards gasped and were about to greet him, but he raised his hand to stop them before he walked into the study room to change his clothes.

Meanwhile, Rose walked slowly to her bed and lay down in silence. Her mind sank into what Rai said. It made her happy, it also saddened her since she couldn't do anything for Angel yet.
"Angelus, how can I help you?"
