Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 199. Interrogation I
"I don't know what you're talking about," Ivetta said, her voice shaking slightly.
Due to her answer, he slowly scratched his sword against Ivetta's neck. Suddenly, her face twisted into an expression of terror, and she began to scream and struggle as if she had seen something truly horrifying before her eyes. It was the sword's side effect, a cursed blade that gave its victims frightening hallucinations.
"Lady Ivetta, stop wasting my time," Angel growled, his voice like the low rumble of thunder in the night.
Ivetta's eyes widened in fear, and she raised her hand, pointing towards the wall not far from them. "I-inside that wall," she gasped, her voice barely above a whisper.
Angel's eyes followed her trembling finger, and he saw a crack in the wall that he hadn't noticed before.
But Angel didn’t make his move, instead, he turned to Ivetta again. "Then where did you put the poison?" he demanded, his voice cold and hard.
Ivetta's eyes darted nervously around. "T-Tower," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
"In detail!" Angel snapped, his patience wearing thin.
Ivetta took a deep breath and steadied herself. "W-West water tower roof of Ironwall City," she began, her voice shaking. "And N-Northern gate guard post tower of Luminus City."
Angel's eyes narrowed as he considered her words. He scratched his sword against her skin again. Ivetta's body tensed, and she let out a scream again.
"I told you, don't lie to me!" Angel roared. "That poison's form is a powder that spreads in the air, there's no way you can put it away from the crowd."
Ivetta's eyes widened in fear, and she felt a cold sweat break out on her forehead. She was panting heavily, her tears mixing with the sweat on her face. The air was thick with tension, and the only sound that could be heard was Ivetta's ragged breathing.
"I-Inside the bell of S-Scarlet Stone Castle's second t-tower... and i-inside the bell of Luminus City's middle t-tower..." she stammered, her voice trembling.
Angel's eyes narrowed as he considered her words. "Are you assigning someone to guard and spread the poison?" he asked, his voice cold and hard.
"N-no," Ivetta whispered, her body shaking with fear. "It will spread itself when the bell rings at noon."
Angel nodded, a cold smile playing at the corners of his mouth. He had known about the poison for some time, and his spies had already replaced it with a fake. But he still decided to remove it, just to be sure. Rose had also been informed of the situation. So the only one who seemed to be confused was Ivetta, but she didn't have the courage to ask about it.
"I see," Angel said casually, his sword still pointed at Ivetta's neck. "Then I just need to order someone to remove it."
Ivetta's eyes widened in surprise. Angel's reaction was unexpected. "W-what?" she stammered, her voice barely audible.
Angel lowered his sword and strode towards the stone wall that Ivetta had pointed to, his boots clanging loudly against the cobblestones beneath him. The wall loomed before him, thick and sturdy, and Angel gripped his sword tightly in his hand. He swung it with all his might, but to his dismay, the sword bounced off the wall with a loud clang.
"Damn this 'magic shield'," Angel muttered under his breath, his dark aura swirling around him in frustration. He took a step back, steeling himself for another attack. He swung his sword again, and this time, he managed to create a few small cracks on the surface of the wall.
He continued to strike the wall, his blows growing stronger and more focused with each swing. The cracks grew wider and wider until finally, he had created a large hole that revealed a shining sword made entirely of gold. The sword had a large lion's head on the handle, and it glinted in the moonlight.
Angel stared at the sword, his family’s sword. His eyes gleamed. He reached out a hand to touch it in awe. It brought back his memory. But then he turned his gaze back to Ivetta.
"Where is Ilex Ferris?" he demanded, his voice cold and hard.
