"Jean? Jean?"

Jean shook awake, sitting up on the chair, looking around, "What?"

She looked up, seeing her teacher worriedly gazed at her, "Miss Jean, are you all right?"

Jean held her head, "No...Yes...I don't know. Can I go to the restroom?"

"Yes. You can."

Jean looked around the class, seeing the look in her classmate's eyes. She took her bag, rushing out of the classroom, making a beeline for the restroom.

She took in front of the mirror, looking at her 16 years self, wearing a purple top, cargo pants, and two golden bangles. She touched  her face, quizically looking at herself, "Why do I feel like I am forgetting something."

She thought a bit, shaking her head, "I'll just skip the classes for today."

Shortly,

Jean walked out of Xavier's school for the gifted, finding her favorite spot, sitting down. She took out the novel she had been reading, leaning against the tree when she heard the sound of the page-turning.

She hesitated, looking up, seeing someone sit over on the next tree, reading a book of his own.

Jean lightly smiled, politely waving her hand, "Jay?"

The young man waved his hand without saying anything, making Jean give him a double look. His body was covered in a long black coat, wearing a black turtleneck underneath. The long coat was hooded, and there was a black cloth mask on his face, goggles above them. His hands were thickly gloved, his feet were hidden by boots.

Ordinarily, it didn't matter who, but she could hear their thoughts. Yet, when she read Jay's mind, she could overhear a thousand different voices.

But that wasn't the thing that fascinated her. It was when all these voices died down, and one talked to her, "Trying to read my mind, again?"

Jean looked down at her book, sending him a telepathic message, "No. I am reading my book. You just happen to be nearby."

"Hmm," Jay's voice echoed in her head, feeling the smile on his lips when Jane wanted to curl up in her place, trying to focus on the book.

His voices didn't come back, but it was the silence in his mind that seemed to have surrounded her, making her feel at peace.

It was the usual, every day after school she came here to read, only to find this person sitting here.

No one knew who he was, where he came from, how he looked. If Jean didn't have telepathy and hear his voice, she wouldn't even know he was a boy.

She just kept turning the pages, sitting in this silence, until he stood up, leaving without saying anything.

Jean looked up, watching him go to the corner of the school grounds. Everyone knew there was a creepy house with no windows and only one door where he lived.

Most of the students were scared of him, terrified, but then many were scared of her.

She asked him numerous times, but he never gave her an answer. But today, she started getting impatient, so she stood up, quietly following behind him.

In front of her,

Jay walked inside a single floored house. It was one bedroom, one kitchen, one bathroom, and the living room. There was one thing about this house, and it was that it didn't have a window. He stepped inside, closing the door behind him.

Jay looked in front of himself, seeing the mostly empty house with a sofa, table. And television in front of the couch.

He took a deep breath, opening the lock of the door that he had just closed.

He entered the kitchen when he heard the sound of the door opened and a smile appeared on his lips.

Outside the house,

Jean opened the door, peeking inside, hesitating before she walked in, and the next moment, everything glitched.

Jean closed her eyes, opening them, and everything had changed.

She held her head, raising her body, looking around when she realized she was sitting on the floor, head on the sofa.

"A dream from last year?" Jean shook her head, looking at the table with flowers on it. The whole house was much cozier than what she saw last year.

Jean turned to look at Jay sleeping, with his face covered in a mask, wearing airtight goggles, even a hood.

Even though it had been a year since she knew him, she never saw him. Ever since then, the children in school began to be even more scared of her. There were even rumors that she was sleeping with him. But it was Professor who prohibited her from coming here.

Still, ever since she started being around him, her powers just grew at an exponential rate.

In this year, Jean knew that he was the most powerful mutant in the world, but for some reason, she was gaining resistance to his power's passive effects.

This was why her powers grew limitlessly, and it wasn't a bad thing since she used these known powers to fool Professor X and come to see him.

She loved coming here, not for the conversation, fooling around, or anything. But the two of them sat and read, together, separately.

Se enjoyed either the silence and company he provided or the chaos in his mind that she tried to figure out. But that didn't mean the two didn't have a good conversation. It was just that the silence was better than the conversation.

She curiously looked at him, hesitating, raising her hand, taking it back. But finally, she decided to lift his hood off, which made her heart beat faster.

She gently pulled down his face mask, gulping, when she saw the gorgeous face, the perfect lips, the irresistible skin, the glow.

Jean stroked his cheek when his eyelids trembled, opening his scarlet eyes from under the goggle.

He blankly looked at her for a moment, making Jean freeze, "Shit!"

Jay's body pushed backward, causing the sofa to fall, and he rolled to the ground, putting on the mask and hood, "What did you do!!! Jean!!"

Jean got on her feet, "Don't need to shout...I was just curious what you looked at below all that. What I don't get is that you look so good, then why are you always hiding?"

Jay leaned against the sofa, turned the couch, taking a deep breath, "Hmm, because anyone that seems me falls in love with me. Doesn't matter if it's a girl, boy, or anything else."

"Heh," Jean laughed, sitting down on the top of the sofa, "Don't tell me for a year you have been hiding because of the narcissism?"

"It's my X-Gene, my mutant power."

Jean stopped chuckling, sliding down from the sofa, sitting beside him, holding his arm, "That must be lonely."

Jay pulled his hand away, standing up, "You should go...Professor was right...you should have never come here. It's my fault."

Jean stood up, "Look, I am sorry? Aren't you overreacting? It's not like I am in love with you."

Jay hesitated, looking back, "Kneel."

"Excuse me?" Jean frowned when Jay shrugged, "Others...once they are under my power. They don't deny me anything. Actually, it doesn't matter what I say or not say. They would even interpret my actions, taking a step as something, and do whatever they felt I would like. Last time it turned out to be a disaster. Normally, you'd be out of the door."

Jean raised her eyebrows, "That must be annoying."

"More than you think. Professor helped me with erasing their memories and gave me shelter. In return, I created a machine that enhances his powers. Which allowed him to help me in the first place. So...yeah..."

He stopped, taking off the hood, goggles, mask, nervously nibbling his lip, looking up at Jean, "I am glad that I left the lock open that day. My name is J."

Jean tucked her hands behind her back, grinning, "You are adequately looking, too narcissistic, but I don't mind. My name is Jean Grey."

Jay took a deep breath, taking off his long coat, gloves, and boots, "Wow, that feels so much better."

"Your socks better not smell."

Jay nearly staggered, looking at grey socks, "I hope not?"
