Real World, ???

Trunks Briefs spun his wedding ring over and over, hoping to get in touch with his wife Chisato. He was about to tell her something important, very important, but didn't get the chance.

"C'mon, work, work."  He growled in annoyance and wanted to pull the ring off and throw it from anger, but didn't.

'She's about to walk into big, big trouble! How much time do I have?'

With a quick look to his wrist watch he could see he didn't have time to go back to Xenoverse and warn her, not when Sephiroth had likely just realized he was there. He debated which was more important; warning Chisato about going into his past, or stopping Game Master's evil plan?

"Dammit." He said, looking up at the rumbling sky of Japan. Between a rock and a hard place was where he was, and he had to face forward.

It was only because he knew things would work out in the end that he could do so.

Of course, being a genius, he knew more things than most people, so when Chisato would eventually go to his past, his former self would write down everything about her. Everything. That included the information about their [Soul - Mate] link, as well as his upcoming battles.

Just how, then, could he know that would happen?

A parallel self, his blue haired version, had experienced it first hand. That would be the version of himself married to Mai currently. Or...was? Trunks wasn't too sure on the after effects, but when he'd dropped Chisato off at the Time Academy and bid his farewells to Chronoa and Elder Kai, he was quite surprised to find a notebook lying on the flooring of Shallot's Realm Time Machine.

He had Zamasu to thank for the Realm Time machine, getting it from Shallot beforehand.

The notebook had been made in a rushed hand, and some of it covered in blood, which had made him panic at first. Further reading led to the knowledge that the blue haired version of himself had indeed met Chisato in the past, and according to his notes, his memories had at once entered his brain in the present, after she'd returned from that time period. Which meant a lot of things had to happen for that to be a permanent thing, due to the Time Scrolls influence and lack of lasting effects.

Only his other self couldn't find Trunks, having left the notebook with Zamasu instead.

From everything Trunks could gather on the subject, his parellel self had experienced a disturbance in time, causing Chisato to step into the role of Time Patroller alone, which led to her being stuck in the past. She'd stayed there for quite some time, and had relied on his other self to get by until a mysterious someone arrived. That unknown person rescued her and she'd left his life altogether, but not before he'd written all the notes he could on the encounter, thinking it important.

It was very important.

'I can't go back and warn her now, but I can't just stand by and let this happen!'

He was about to make a split second choice of sending Shallot in his stead, when out of no where Zamasu appeared by his side.

The Kai dipped his head. "She's at Son Goku's home. For now."

Trunks spun, startled a bit at his sudden appearance before relaxing. "I-I see. Wait. Zamasu, you need to go back and tell her about--"

But Zamasu shook his head. "--No. What's going to happen has been written about in the Book of the beginning and end. You know what that means, mortal."

"But! This is my wife we're talking about! How can you be so calm?!" Trunks shoved Zamasu's shoulder. His blood pressure was rising along with his ki.

"Don't touch me. I'm calm because she will be fine, thanks to me. You seem to forget I'm quite capable of healing."

'Ah. That is right. Zamasu never became more than an apprentice! He can heal her when she comes out!'

Trunks bowed politely and replied, "Right! I forgot! But, um, can you tell me what's going to happen to her? I mean, you know the future don't you?"

Zamasu didn't reply. Instead, he looked off into the rumbling sky, and it took Trunks a second to realize he was using his kai eyesight to watch the far off battle of Reimu and Sephiroth. Finally he said, "I only see parts of the future. You know what will change, and you're scared of that."

"I'm not scared! You know what he wrote, don't you? How--"

"--Enough, Trunks Briefs. We are wasting precious time. You wish to save her from the fate of repeating her life, don't you? Or would you put her through it all again? Are you that selfish?"

His accusation stung. Trunks swallowed quite hard and glared at his boots, wanting nothing more than to be with his innocent wife. Then her past life flashed in his mind. With the gaze of a warrior on a mission he focused on Zamasu's gray eyes and smirked. "I'm not, no. Let's get going then. Like you said, we're wasting time."

"Hm."

Xenoverse, Forbidden Past

Chisato looked at Turles's 20x health bars with dread. He had even more than Granolah, and that wasn't good for her and the time limit of the Primal Form. She watched Turles search around in the sky for Tokitoki, whom Chisato really hoped had fled the area.

Turles gave up his search momentarily just as a timer appeared above her field of vision. 15:00. Fifteen minutes to win the battle.

"I won't waste any time. I'll show you my true power, Turles, but I wish things weren't like this. You could change. Turn good," Chisato said to him.

Turles rolled his eyes in disgust at her offer. "You sound like a goody two shoes through and through. Where's the Rhuda who obliterated planet after planet for me? Hmm?"

"Like I said...I'm not...her!" Chisato's hair flew up and back as a terrible power began to shake the earth around their battle zone. Her pig tails lifted high into the sky, shifting in color from auburn brown to a vibrant aquamarine.

'This is bad. I have to win this battle, and my Primal Form x2 has a time limit of two minutes of use. And Dad's power pole is gone, since I gave it to Kolard in the future. But if I don't win this here and now, things could get out of hand. Just what is Turles needing to come here for, and what does it have to do with me? I don't understand!'

She ran to him, attempting to assess his strength with one attack. Her fist reared forward and slid across his cheek bone, and Turles smirked at her attempt.

"You're holding back, love."

thump

His fist landed into her stomach and sent Chisato through the ground on her back, a trail following. Broken rocks and dirt smudged her clothing, outer thighs and arms.

'He's so fast! That fruit...it's from that Tree, isn't it. Where did he go to grow it? What planet did he use?'

She was lost in thought for a split second, long enough for her enemy to follow the gut punch with a blast overhead.

Chisato X'ed her arms and took it full force, not wanting it to go around her and hurt Trunks or potentially Tokitoki. The result was a decrease in her Health bar by 20%.

She jumped into the sky and spread her arms and legs, channeling energy into her body from within. With one quick snap of her hands coming downward she called out, "Heat Dome Attack!"

The explosion rang out across the village outside West City. The incoming dust made her cover her face, and as it faded away, she looked around for Turles but was unable to sense his energy.

"Looking for me, love?"

At the last second she knew he had come from behind and thus reacted just in time to avoid her tail becoming captured again. Her body twisted of its own volition as the lower portion of her leg collided into the side of his head. Turles landed down several feet away.

'I've barely been able to make a scratch on him!'

Chisato seethed inside.

The battle wouldn't end in her favor. There had to be another way to win, to protect the timeline she was in from changing too much. Sweat ran down her face while she watched Turles come back to a standing position.

'What can I do? I can't win in time!'

An idea emerged under pressure. She would need to obtain the scroll he'd stolen from him, and send him back to the Time Nest.

Turles dusted off his shoulder pad and beckoned her to come forward. She answered, using Instant Transmission to come from behind him, surprising him just enough it earned her some time to body search his torso. Her hands pat his chest for all of three seconds before Turles snatched her wrists around him.

"If you wanted to play nice, dove, you should have just said so." He chuckled.

Normally she would free herself and fight him some more, but with the timer ticking down ahead, Chisato knew it was useless. Her only option at that moment was to play nice as he had said, and hope Turles fell for it in time. It would seem the Game had set her up for failure.

"I--I'm sorry, you see...ano...I was too nervous to tell you the truth." She lied.

His head turned just so his one eye and hers connected. "The truth? And what would that be?"

"Ano...Turles is handsome and powerful. I'm in heat, and I'd like to forget about our fight. If that's okay with you." She said. Her teeth ground together with the bold half lie. Her cheeks burned from it also.

He twirled, "You're either foolish or really, really into me. I don't know which, so let's test that out."

His right hand rose to her neck line, pulling Chisato to his lips, where he stole them.

'This is...wrong! But I'll never win if I don't use this method! Trunks, please forgive me for this. I'm too weak.'

She played the part, giving him as much pleasure as she could with only her tongue. When that was satisfied he pulled away and licked his lips. "They're as sweet as I remember," he said.

From the corner of her eye she spotted Trunks making his way to their fighting zone, but as Turles's back was turned, she shooed him away, first with a wave and then a thumbs up. He shook his head at her, and the expression on his face said he thought she had lost her mind.

Once more she shooed him before distracting Turles again more thoroughly than before.

Trunks was nearer, but Chisato ignored him to focus on feeling Turles's body, trying to discern where the scroll could be. Finally, at his side, just barely peeking from the tops of his lower armor she spied the design of a Time Scroll.

'I found it! This is it!'

"T-Turles," she whispered, half aware how needy she was acting, "...why do you want Tokitoki? Please, can you tell me?"

He began kissing her neck. His words were between kisses, "Game Master won't let me leave this game for good....until I...can bring you to him....Tokitoki is my own idea....a new timeline in the real world...can you picture it?"

'No! He plans to wait until Tokitoki lays an egg, and use it to create chaos in the real world! This is horrible!'

Her hand brushed the top of the Time Scroll, just as Trunks pulled his sword. Turles froze at the sound of metal on his neck, catching sight of Trunks angered face. "This ends here, you! As for you, stop this nonsense! You're a Brief, aren't you?"

Several things happened at once.

Chisato pulled from Turles, who knew he had been tricked. His hand snatched Chisato's tail before she could fully free herself. Second, a bird up above chirped. All three saw it was Tokitoki, and despite his injured form, he began to shine brightly.

'It's Toki...toki!'

"Damnit!" Turles said.

'He's looking away. Now is my only chance!'

Timer, 1:57.

Chisato strained to say, "In the armor around his waist! The Time Scroll, grab it now Trunks!"

Trunks's focus slipped. He looked down Turles's armor and saw the rounded bulge. It was nearly too late, however. Tokitoki squawked and used his large talons to attack Turles.

Chisato watched as the timer became lower and lower. "T-Trunks..." she hissed, "...hurry! Grab it!"

Tokitoki viscously continued its attack on Turles. Trunks nodded, and clasped the Time Scroll in his hand. "I've got it!" He said.

"Damn you! You'll pay for that!" Turles said. He blasted away Tokitoki, who skid on the ground and lay unmoving. After tightly grabbing Chisato to him once more, Turles angled to Trunks and said, "I'll make you wish you hadn't done that. Give me the Time Scroll, now!"

"Hyah!" Chisato fell limply into Turles's chest, trying to tell Trunks not to do it. All the strength, including the Primal Form faded from her body. She was normal once more just as the timer hedged down to 0:00.

She had lost.

Everything wasn't lost, however. Trunks had the Time Scroll.

He tucked it into his blue denim jacket before holding out his sword. "I don't know what the hell's going on, but I won't sit by and let you hurt her, or Tokitoki!"

"Fool!" Turles shot a energy blast to Trunks, who knocked it away with his sword. While the boom went off from impact, Chisato struggled, tears of fear sliding down her face.

'I lost the fight. And Tokitoki--! Tokitoki is badly hurt! I have to do something!'

"T-Trunks," she said, before falling forward onto her face. Turles drug her, hopped into the sky, and dangled her body over Trunks.

"Hand over the Scroll!" Turles shouted down. "Or I'll kill everyone left in West City!"

Chisato could hardly hold her eyes open. They were heavy and filled with sand. She'd lost, and even Tokitoki had become injured all because of her weakness.

'Trunks...Shallot...'

Even the energy to cry was gone. Dull, she hung from the air, seeing Trunks make his blue eyes firm. He held out his blade to his side and charged upwards, putting Turles on the defensive. She couldn't perceive more than the knowledge that her kidnapper was incredibly strong, and Trunks was soon on his back below them on the ground coughing.

"Hah! Weak!" Turles held out his hand to finish Trunks off, and at the last second, Tokitoki came from nowhere and threw himself across Trunks's body. The bird of time glowed brightly and shielded him from the blast.

Tokitoki was no more.

He rolled away, burnt. His eyes were shut as he lay there.

'Tokitoki!'

Chisato could only watch in horror while Turles said, "He's dead already? Such a weak thing, considering he can lay Eggs of Time. Whatever. I still have the girl. Hand me the damn Scroll!"

"You want it so badly..." Trunks pulled the Time Scroll from his denim jacket. He tossed it above his head, and rose his blade. In one single arc of it, the Time Scroll was slit. A dark, purple lightning zipped around it and crackled before it hit the ground below. "...take it!"

"No! Idiot! Do you know what you've done!" Turles dropped his hold on Chisato. She fell to the earth, only to be caught by Trunks.

"I'm free." Chisato caught her breath. She fixed a firm, angry glare up at Turles. "He killed Tokitoki! Trunks, what should I do?"

The half saiyan beside her put his hand on her shoulder and replied, "Right now, we should probably get you to safety."

'Eh? Ah.'

"Ano, sorry. I was talking to....ano..." her cheeks darkened. The one whom she had spoken to was her husband, yet the present Trunks had answered instead. As such she was disturbed by that.

Their conversation was interrupted by a new arrival. The person whom had just appeared loomed like a dark cloud of death, looking on at the three of them in turn. His dark brow lifted, "A new saiyan? And who might this be?" He eyed Turles.

Turles was done channeling his power. He spread his feet out wide, seeing the newcomer. "Ha! I was going to look for you next, Black. But this is fine. I'll be taking that Time Ring!"

Black's eyes widened. "How does a mere mortal know about the Time Rings? What blasphemy is this!"

Chisato couldn't help the gasp of surprise. That had been the true reason for why Turles had sought this timeline. It was unguarded without a destroyer or her father, Goku. None of the Z warriors could stop him here.

'This is bad. If Turles gets his hands on a Time Ring, he can go to the past any time he wants. And he could easily undo the effort that Trunks went to, and get not just me but Tokitoki and the Time Scroll!'

Chisato's cheek dripped sweat. She didn't know what to do. A Time Patroller wasn't supposed to interfere in the past. Yet she was stuck there. Not only that, but with no sensu beans or back up. She longed for Shallot or Gohan to come to her rescue.

"I've made such a big mess of things." Her eyes filled with tears. "Hic! Oh, Zamasu, why didn't you tell me this would happen! Why did you have to let this do this alone!"

Black smirked at Turles and flexed out his hand, exposing the Time Ring. "A pathetic mortal will never understand the role this plays. Only a God such as myself has the right to use this divine tool. I don't know where you came from, but you're going to die like all the rest."

Chisato carefully took the body of Tokitoki to her chest and shook her head back and forth. Either way she thought about the problem, the only solution was to seek help. But where?

Her mind played through everything her husband had told her about Goku Black. Every parallel mission that she'd been a part of. The only one she could turn to in such a time was her husband's other self.

She faced Trunks. "We need to escape while we can. If I get caught here, this time will be forever changed."

Trunks stopped watching the fight that had broke out in the sky and replied, "Yeah. You're going to need to tell me more than that before I can help."

"There's no time. And for now, I hope that Black wins this fight."

Trunks eyes widened. "What? What are you saying? You don't mean...?"

Chisato nodded. "Yes. Ano, I'm sorry Trunks. It seems I've brought even more misfortune your way. For the time being, the end which will come shouldn't be changed. Turles has knowledge that Black doesn't. Knowledge about time, how to change it, and he's using not just me, but your history to get what he wants. And with Tokitoki gone..." her chin quivered, "....I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for everything! Oh, how I wish I'd never been born!"

It was clear Trunks didn't know what to say. His mouth was agape slightly. Finally he snapped his lips together and took one last look to the fight up above. "We'll talk later. C'mon, you need to stay away from here."

As they jumped away and put distance between them and the explosive battle between Turles and Black, Chisato prayed that it was all just a bad dream.
