[Juggernaut Drive!!!!!]

The screams of tortured souls resonated loudly inside the barrier, blaring like the horns of the legions of hell.

The mix of the Divine, Devilish and Draconic power weighed down on the principles of the world and made whoever had to face the culmination of its might kneel in awe and fear.

Ornis looked blankly at the monstrous entity.

An abominable mix of crimson red, emerald green, and greyish silver.

A sleek red armor with a dash of silver morphed into a brutal sight to behold… Threatening spikes protruded all over its hulking frame.

Large black translucent wings, entirely made out of energy, unfolded out from its back. An emerald green jewel was embedded in the chest of the behemoth's armor.

The monster of an abomination towered over him with its maw opened wide as if ready to devour him at the slightest of his movement.

Ornis was not afraid…

What he felt now had long since transcended something like mere fear, transforming into an absolute sense of pure terror coming out from his very soul.

The kind of primordial fear a prey would feel when facing an apex predator.

'I..am…I am a god. No…Why.'

His thoughts were scattered as he could not even summon the will to think properly in front of this malignant abomination that could not be understood.

He had always insulted Basara as an abomination of the three races.

The reason was simple.

Unlike what many simpletons seemed to think, being a hybrid did not mean that one became better with having two powerful bloodlines flowing through them. More often than not it lead to a downgrade in one's potential, crippling their future advancement. [1]

Otherwise, all the noble beings with absolute power wouldn't disdain mixed blood so much.

Generally speaking, hybrids were unable to bring out the true strength of the races that made up his genetic map.

A hybrid dragon would have a hard time transforming into a gigantic dragon.

A hybrid devil had low chances of inheriting the special magic of their family.

A hybrid god could only be called a slightly special human at most.

Of course, there were some exceptions and those exceptions always ended up becoming outrageously strong. But exceptions were called such because of how rare they were.

The more complicated the mix of the races was, the lower the chance for a perfect hybrid to appear.

For Basara, Ornis had thought that the only thing special about him was his sacred gear.

But he never cared about it. After all, some of the ten gods should at least be comparable to Great Red himself [2]. Nothing needs to be said when it comes to a measly heavenly dragon.

As for the Banishing Shift, while it was absolutely incredible, Ornis had deduced that this power came from his sword, rather than being his own.

The only thing that truly belonged to him was his Gravity magic.

In short, Basara should have been a failure like the vast majority of hybrids. Someone who, despite the incredible pedigree he was born with, showed basically nothing particularly special.

Now he realized just how wrong he was…

"Please…Spare me…"

He begged as his mind finally took back control of his shattered psyche. His pride as a god was nowhere to be seen in front of the absolute monstrous being in front of him.

All that was left was an unsightly display of a being with an ego bigger than he could handle in reality.

And to such a man, nay god, Basara's actions, whose mind had completely entered a berserk state, were rather simple.

ROOOAAARR!!

He roared…

A roar so loud that if Ornis had eardrums, it would have immediately burst from its intensity.

*Crack*

Just from the vibrations of the sound alone, the barrier he had spent days creating showed signs of breaking down into shattered pieces of nothingness.

———

Ornis wanted to scream out the impossibility that was in front of him. But the cruel reality was something he could not oppose.

'I need to flee.'

Finally, he came to the only logical conclusion that he could come up with.

Fleeing like a bereaved dog was the only way for him to survive.

Clearly, this was a power Basara could not control.

It wouldn't be too late to come back later and kill him when he reverted back into his normal form.

'Indeed... This is just a tactical retreat.'

He tried to console himself with such ridiculous thoughts but deep down he knew the truth.

What he didn't know was that… Retreat…had never been a possibility in the first place.

Ornis's aura rose as he created multiple explosions while trying to fly back but the very moment he moved, he felt steel-like claws clamp hard around his arm.

'Is he…Grinning?'

Ornis wondered as he saw something that could only be described as a malevolent grin on the face of that Dragon-shaped monster.

Then…

*Tear*

"Ah…" Ornis looked blankly as his right arm was torn apart from his shoulder… so easily as though Basara was simply tearing paper apart.

Then it finally hit him — the soul-shivering pain.

"Arghhhh!!!"

A mortifying scream — an amalgam of pain and terror came out of his mouth.

No matter how strong Basara became, destroying the body of a god so easily should have been impossible.

But Ornis understood when he saw the green energy coming from Basara's hand, while his own had completely and utterly vanished into nothingness.

[Banishing Shift.]

A power that Ornis had judged to have surpassed the power of Destruction of the Bael's.

Pure and absolute annihilation of Body and Soul.

Anyone killed by this power could be said to be thoroughly dead with absolutely no hope of reincarnation.

'I thought he could only use it defensively!?'

He couldn't understand... There were so many things he couldn't make heads or tails of this situation…

But, he knew that he would die here at the hand of that monster.

After Basara opened his mouth, Ornis could see malevolent green flames brewing in the throat of that abomination of a monster.

He easily recognized this power as Banishing Shift once again.

A dragon breath empowered with the purest essence of Banishing Shift. [3]

"Ahahaha! Do it! Yes, Kill me!"

Ornis laughed as the last shred of his sanity was brought to the brink of utter collapse.

But he was happy.

This attack would be terrible.

He would have absolutely no chance of surviving it and would die — so would the other students.

This was a power that reached and even perhaps surpassed the god class.

His simple roar was enough to put cracks in his barrier so the result of the attack that was brewing was imaginable to anyone with a functional brain.

Ornis laughed. Just how miserable would Basara be once he woke up and witnessed the total extermination of his school at his own hands?

"Let me help you then."

Since he was about to die anyway, might as well bring as much despair as possible to that fucking monster.

So with that thought in mind, Ornis immediately dispelled all the wards he created.

For an instant… A very short instant… The devastating aura of Basara's current form shot up into the sky, causing the weather itself to change — dark clouds gathered, lightning flashed, and the world itself shook in fear of its presence…

All the supernatural beings currently present in the city or its outskirts snapped awake as they tried to locate the source of this power with anxious nervousness.

Only to be confounded by not being able to pinpoint the origin…

This couldn't be helped. The might of this transcendental power was so overbearing that finding the origin was complicated. It had shaken the principles of the world itself, causing a disturbance in the aura surrounding its origin.

But...

"That is enough."

With that shout… the energy vanished as fast as it appeared.

So fast that it seemed like a mere illusion.

But none of them were foolish enough to think that it was merely an illusion.

They spread their senses further and further, trying their hardest to find the source but to no avail.

Not even Serafall was able to find it.

As for Kokabiel… For the first time after his arrival, he wondered if it was safe to stay around here.

Perhaps it would be better to contact that Devil and his organization.

———

Meanwhile, somewhere far away from Kuoh city and not even in the vicinity of the nation of Japan, a short girl with long black hair and elvish ears looked up at the horizon in the direction of Japan with wonder evident in her emotionless dark grey eyes.

"Great Red?"

[2]: Not exaggerating. The Etoulde are more or less equal to the Evi (though from what Chichigami said, they should be slightly inferior), and those who read Shin DxD know what the Evi are capable of. So yeah. For those who don't, I won't spoil you.
