Miles Bardo sat on his haunches in the middle of the park near his school. The cool autumn air frosted his breath as he waited for his friend. He scrolled through an isekai manga, his brain devouring and disposing of the information like the body does fast food. Usually when he finishes an isekai he forgets almost everything he read in an hour. It's also why he usually prefers books.
“Hey Miles!” His friend Perry yells.
Looking up he saw his friend, an average looking boy with pale skin brown hair and freckles on his face. Not that Miles was much more attractive with dark hair and more tanned skin. They had been friends for almost their entire lives, and in fact Perry was who got Miles into anime in the first place.
“Sup, you got the books?” Miles asked, getting to his feet.
“Yeah, I brought the first three, don’t worry about the name, it's a great read,” Perry said, pulling out a few books from his backpack.
Taking them from Perry, Miles grinned with a bit of embarrassment.
‘Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon?” Miles said, cringing at the name a little. “Well it's not as though other isekais don’t follow that same trend.”
“Bro I already said it's not an Isekai, it just has a lot of the same elements, and you can just say Danmachi.”
“Eh, Tomato Tomato.”
“It's Tomato Tomahto.”
“Whatever.”
Despite his words Miles was actually a bit excited to read the series, he read the first chapter in class the day before, and had been thinking about it for the past two days. Perry had told him he had the light novels so Miles asked if he could borrow them. Deciding not to push further in the manga and enjoy the books instead.
“Thanks man, I’ll get them back to you by next week.”
“No problem bro, just don’t get the pages sticky.”
“Ew that's ju-”
Then out of the corner of his eyes Miles saw a truck shimmer into existence, except it wasn't like a normal truck. It had devilish eyes and steam came out the front like a dragon's smokebreath. It roared forward heading straight for Perry.
“T-tr-truck-kun?!” Miles exclaimed, on instinct he moved forward pushing Perry out of the way. Realizing he was about to be hit he held out the recently acquired books as though they would shield him.
That's how Miles Bardo, age 15 died.
…
“What the fuck!” an old man yelled at Miles.
“Huh, what, where am I?” Miles said, trying to stand up, but he couldn’t feel his arms or legs. In fact he couldn't breathe.
He spent several seconds trying to gasp for breath.
“Hey shit head, you're fine, stop struggling.”
It took a moment but Miles was able to get control of himself.
He looked at the old man, who seemed oddly big in comparison to Miles, who still couldn't feel or move his body.
“Dammit, it costs so much to hire Truck-kun now I have to do it again,” the old man grumbled.
“What happened?” Miles asked.
“Well, you see, whenever a world is in need of someone to entice a change, be it a hero, a villain or a scientist, I send someone down to pick one who is deemed to be worthy of completing that change. I hired Truck-kun, one of the best in the business, might I say, to nab that Perry friend of yours to do the job.”
“Wait, am I dead?”
The old man, God? Stared blankly at him for a moment and sighed. “Yeah yeah you have died. AAAAnyways the world I’m going to send him to already has his soul slotted for the position. But now I have to deal with an extra soul, aka you.”
“Can you send me back, and wait so you're gonna try to kill Perry again?”
God snorted, “Well I can, but then you’d just get one last dying breath before your broken body fails you and you die again. And yes, in fact it is now his destiny to die and be reincarnated into the world of My Hero Academia.”
“Can I join him?”
“Fuuuuuuck no, two catalysts? That could end up with an entire universe destroyed.”
Miles was still processing the whole he's dead fiasco, trying to grasp at straws.
“Ooh, well, you wanted to read Danmachi right? Well you can just live it!”
“Wait, I only read the first chapter of the manga, I don’t really know anything about it, how am I-”
“What? going to survive? Like any other person I’d say.”
“Am I going to get a system? Or a broken ability?”
“I’m not going to waste my energy giving you a system. They already have the Falna, and sure I’ll make you a little special.”
“Wait, what about my age, I won’t have to be a baby right?”
“It's reincarnation, not transmigration. Suck it up.”
Before he could argue further the old man pointed at Miles' body/soul and pressed down with his finger, which grew to engulf the entire sky.
Miles felt himself warp and suddenly he was falling through the clouds, but he felt no wind on his back. Looking down he saw an old medieval style house on the edge of a forest. He plummeted down, phasing through the roof and landed on a baby being held in a man's arms.
…
“Hey hey hey, come on boy, come on,” A gentle but rough voice said with a bit of desperation.
My eyes fluttered open, light blurred my vision but I was able to see a large face with a mess of black hair and a long beard. The face split into a large smile.
“There we go! Teshar was right! It worked, we got a kid,” the man cried down at me.
Focusing my vision a bit more I could see small tears falling down the decidedly rugged face.
“Let me see, give him here,” a weak voice said from behind me.
I was carried and placed into the arms of a beautiful woman. She had light gray hair and piercing ice blue eyes, but to me the most distinguishing part of her were the long pointed ears. An elf, my mother was an elf.
Another voice, which reminded me of rustling leaves, spoke.
“I knew I could do it, hah, suck it biology,” A tall androgenous person said.
Where the elven woman had gray hair this person had silver hair, which actually seemed to have a metallic shine to it, their eyes were a deep forest green and their smile seemed too wide for any normal person.
“The first of his kind, a half-dwarf half-elf.”
That was how my life in Danmachi started.
(A/N) --Maybe leave a review if ya like it.--
Cool, I love Danmachi but really think Bell is annoying in any scene that isn't fighting. Glad to see you have a different protagonist, it can be hard to insert a completely new character in a fanfic. Good luck with that, we'll watch your career with interest.
Truck-kun is getting many contracts in all these novels, the guy must be loaded.
He must also have a ton of lawsuits too lol

Impossible, you're stil here!

The first of his kind, a half-dwarf half-elf.”
that must have been a miracle for an elf to let a dwarf become their partner.
Damn God be hiring truck-kun now. I mean, like the God said, truck-kun does its job really well so I can't blame them for wanting to hire its wonderful service.
I usually wait until a novel has at least five chapters before I read and usually try and read with that interval in mind. You have five now and despite getting a little over done with the setting for the fan fiction, I'm at least mildly interested still. It could be worse. If it was DxD, Nauruto, or Harry Potter I probably wouldn't bother.

Same. Junk food reading ain't bad, but I only read it when I don't have real books.

Just a tip, but caps lock is a really bad writing habit as much as this is. They're at the same level as using too many onomatopoeias. They can be used rarely for affect, but relied on heavily and you end up lazy. Like this;
Looking down he saw an old medieval style house on the edge of a forest.
What is medieval style? Is it a Tudor mansion? What kind of forest? Rainforest? 😆 Don't know what that Tudor is?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tudor_architecture
It's late medieval architecture. As that link says, Gothic architecture preceded Tudor. And this is mostly England and Wales.
The point is you should avoid lazy writing crutches like that when you can. It's better to describe things.
I don't think I need to point out how weird this baby is. You really should read up on babies. Your future wife will be embarrassed to read this. 🤭 You can just say he has a strong soul. LOL
heyhey, a promising one!
Interesting 🙂.

Yo. Hestia or what? Is Bell a thing here?? Hmm. Can’t wait to read more. Next chapter!!
