“Are they still sleeping?” I asked Sana when she came back from checking on Christina and Aneesa.
“Yes, they are. They might have overdone it against the golem and used more mana than expected.” Sana answered.
“Well, I guess they can take their sleep first and we’ll trade after they wake up.”
“Thank you. I really want to let them sleep.” Sana commented.
Because I was just sitting around, looking at security cameras, I decided to practice more telekinesis. Having that skill at a higher level shouldn’t lead to any bad things, right? And it also doubles as mana control training, so it’s even better. And now that I have mana control skill, I think I can actually try to move the mana completely on my own. No Laura required. At least as long as it’s inside my body. And even then, Laura is much faster and much more precise than I am. But perhaps with time and effort I can reach her level.
(Master, you don’t need to reach my level. I’ll be with you forever.) Laura used her possessive words again.
(I know you will. I know you will.) I repeated.
But as I had gotten better at mana control, and telekinetically floating around a card was … easier. Not too easy, but just easier. I swapped my telekinesis practice target from a card to the mithril sword. If I could float the sword around at decent speed, I could use it in combat while I defend with Millennium Shield. Offense and defense at the same time. And that would keep both my hands free to hold onto the shield. And with a shield as large as Millennium Shield, that might just be necessary. Well then again, I don’t really even need to hold Millennium Shield as it moves on its own, so…
Well I still want to be able to float a sword around and attack with it.
Sadly, I quickly came to realize that with my current skills, attacking with a floating sword would not be possible. Even though I could float it just fine, moving it quickly enough for it to do any actual damage just isn’t possible yet. The best I could do is float it above a target and letting it go. Gravity will do the actual acceleration. More practice will be necessary before I reach Gilgamesh levels of sword launching. I guess I would also need more swords for that, but that is a problem for another day. Well, I could make them with the dungeon if I had the points for it, but right now it would be a massive waste.
But something that shouldn’t be a waste is making another magic bag for myself. My fanny pack is nice and all, but it’s not that large. I can hold most of my personal belongings in it, but holding something like monsters I hunt wouldn’t be possible. Perhaps I should make a fanny pack for Lua and Alex as well. … Let’s not do that just yet and at least ask them if they want one first. And I can probably just take a day-trip here with Gradius if I need something expensive made. Less expensive things I can generate with my terminal, but at double the cost, making multiple magic bags would drain all my points.
In the end, I only made a magic backpack for myself. I’ll get the rest later as necessary. But as I was making it, I noticed the backpack model had two different sizes available. Normal and Large. Originally, there was only one choice so I wonder what changed?
(The dungeon might have analyzed the magic bags carried by the maids. They might be of higher quality than the ones adventurers use.) Laura offered.
Sure, let’s just say that’s what happened. Anyway, I made myself a large backpack. More space is better.
It looked like a basic leather bag with straps so you could put it on your back. The dark leather doesn’t look half bad.
I looked inside it and realized that it’s huge. Like almost massive.
(Laura, how large is this thing?)
(About 1000 m3.) Laura answered. (10m x 10m x 10m)
… (Is that just large? Shouldn’t something of this size be considered huge?) I asked.
(I cannot answer that, but given that the dungeon rates it as large, even larger ones may exist.) Laura said. (And a bag that size couldn’t take in a monster the size of a sword-horn bull.)
(Well that thing isn’t exactly a good example. I don’t think people hunt monsters that size that often.)
(Don’t forget that A and S-rank adventurers do exist. What do you think they do when they go on quests?) Laura asked.
(... I don’t know. I don’t know what adventurers do. Hunt wyverns like Diamond Sword did? Escort VIPs? Explore high difficulty dungeons?)
(And hunt A and sometimes S-rank monsters.) Laura said.
Okay, so I guess an even larger magic bag could be useful if you hunt massive beasts, but where would you even find them? And how many would you hunt in a year? There can’t be that many of them around or they would just wipe out all of humanity.
“Good morning.” I heard Christina say as she walked up to the core. I had heard some sounds from behind the cardboard wall just a bit ago, so that must have been her waking up and getting dressed.
“Good morning. Even though I’m decently sure it’s the middle of the night.” I told her.
In fact, according to Laura, it was currently 1:32 am.
“Well customs are customs. If you want to head to bed, I’ll take over here.” She said.
“Yeah, I will. Soon.” I answered.
If I remember correctly, my pack tokens come in at 2 am so just 30 minutes. I think I’ll go to sleep after them.
Actually, perhaps I should ask Christina about her preferences on the monsters.
“Christina, I’d like to ask you about what kind of monsters you would like. I have a suggestion, but I’m not sure if the monsters I was thinking about are powerful enough.” I brought up the topic.
“I believe any would work, but perhaps frontline fighters that can cover for me while I cast spells will be the best.” She said.
Oh, so that is her opinion. Aren’t Amazoness monsters perfect then?
“Pack Opener open.” I said to open up my skill so Christina could see it as well. Then I opened the set lists and showed some Amazoness monsters to her.
“Here. Amazoness Fighter, Swords Woman and Tiger.” I pointed the three cards to her.
“The Swords Woman and Fighter have decent attack and defense so they should be alright and the Tiger can pull aggro. What do you think?” I asked.
“I believe they would work, but if you are willing to give multiple monsters to me, perhaps someone that can attack from long range would be useful as well.” Christina commented on my choices.
(Laura?) I immediately shot a question to her.
(Amazoness Archer is an option and Master already has a copy of her.) Laura said.
(Nice and efficient. I like it.) I commented.
(There is also Gemini Elf, an earth attribute spellcaster, but it’s secret rare. You could also trade for a second Millennium Shield, if you want her to have a defensive wall. And Flaming Eternity has Granmarg the Rock Monarch, a rock golem monster. You even have a spare Big Koala if you want something powerful.) Laura listed some options.
(Thanks. I knew I could leave it to you.) I thanked Laura for her quick service.
“I do have this.” I said to Christina as I pulled out Amazoness Archer and showed it to her. I also pulled out Big Koala. “And this could work for emergencies where large monsters show up. It’s not nearly as strong as the one I used (Master of Oz), but still powerful.”
Then I navigated back to the set lists and showed her Granmarg. “I could also try to get this Rock Golem if you prefer that.”
“...” Christina was speechless. “That’s quite a lot of options. Do you have to consider all of that every time you summon a monster?” She asked.
“No, not really. I just use what feels good.” I told her. I do have my go to cards. “But it’s different for you. I’m basically building a pseudo deck for you to use.”
“Deck? Like the ones you use for games?” She asked.
… do they have normal playing cards? But they don’t have cardboard. What do they print the cards on? Do they use metal cards or something?
“Well yes, but no. More like a deck of these summoning cards.” I answered. “I call it a deck because of something in my past, but it’s not the same as a deck of playing cards.”
“Your past… Oh. Yes. I think I understand.” Christina came to realize something. I’m not sure she is actually correct at all, but at the same time, it doesn’t really matter.
“So, what would you like?” I asked.
“... that’s not an easy choice. But I think some of these ‘Amazoness’ monsters and this ‘Big Koala’ will be enough, if I could ask for them.” Christina said. “Oh, and I would also like something that can fly like you promised.” She added.
“Sure. I have a few cards for that. I’ll also give you an Overdrive before I leave Alewatch.” I told her.
Good. The basic structure is down. Now I just wait for the pack tokens so I can hopefully get some Amazoness cards. And if I get one of each, I’ll open some LoBY so I can try to get some Machine Conversion Factories to enhance Christina’s Overdrive without painting a big blue seven on it. And you know, for all LoBY staple spells as well.
Magician's Force is the set for today. It has the Amazoness monsters after all.
While I was waiting for the tokens, I had a small snack made by Aneesa. Sana had already gone to bed.
“Christina, do you want to watch me open the packs?” I asked her.
“I suppose I could. There isn’t much else to do. And Alice seems to enjoy doing that, so I want to try as well.” She answered.
“Pack Opener open.” I opened up my skill again. Then I navigated to the pack opening section and pulled open the first pack of Magician’s Force.
Well, there is one Amazoness. But I already had one Amazoness Warrior.
(Correction, you already had two.) Laura pointed out.
(One or two, doesn’t really matter.)
Raregold Armor I’ve already determined to be both good and scary. Rivalry could be useful in situations where I face multiple kinds of monsters at the same time, but sadly it limits me as well. Big Bang Shot could also see use in some situations where more power is needed.
But the real treasure is the Emblem of Dragon Destroyer. It just gives me a Buster Blader. And this card is common. Buster Blader is, I believe, an ultra rare. Trading a common for an ultra rare sounds like an amazing deal. Almost so good that it can’t be real.
“Is that one of those Amazoness monsters you were talking about?” Christina asked as she pointed at the warrior.
“Yes, she is. But we need more than one.” I told her. “And that means more packs.”
… Actually, Buster Blader is an earth warrior right? If I can get a Buster for each emblem, I could give one or even two to Christina and it would probably make for a better boss monster than Big Koala.
Well anyway, the packs come first.
No Amazoness monsters here. Giant Orc is a bit… well it’s not necessary for me. My Body As a Shield is too self harming. Miracle Restoring isn’t a miracle at all. And Des Koala is just meh. Metalsilver Armor though. That might actually see some use. It might be better against human targets than Raregold Armor.
But next pack.
“We got another Amazoness.” Christina pointed out.
“Yeah, that’s good.” I don’t think I had a Paladin yet.
Also, why does Amazoness Paladin look like a feminized version of Atem? Like really? Sure she lacks the color, but the style of her bangs is almost exactly the same. And she has some black and purple feathers for the missing color as well.
Physical Double could be useful in some situations, but other than that and the Amazoness, nothing crazy here.
Another Rivalry. Koitsu is a joke, Decayed Commander is a zombie so I’m not giving that to Christina, Anti-Spell is meh. Great Angus and Dark Blade were decent level fours for the time, but that isn’t exactly what we need.
Next.
“Isn’t this the card you gave Alice? How is it here?” Christina asked as she pointed at Dark Magician Girl.
“It’s a different copy. I can have multiple of the same monster.” I told her.
“I see. Then perhaps you’ll let me have this one?”
“... I think Alice will be jealous if I give you one as well. And I would like to have one for myself as well, so I’m keeping it. Sorry.” I told her.
“That’s fine. I can deal without one.” She agreed.
But really. Other than that DMG, nothing crazy here. Well, having more copies of Raregold Armor is nice. I guess.
Next.
“Is that a guillotine? Why is that on one of these?” Christina asked.
Yeah, that is strange. But at the same time, it seems to work with Amazoness cards, so perhaps I should give it to Christina.
“Well, it’s not really about the guillotine. It’s about saving someone innocent from the guillotine.” I explained, even though I’m not sure it is true.
“Ah, I see. But still. Some of these cards are oddly specific. When would you need to rescue someone from a guillotine?” She wondered.
… I’m sure some times have come. But I guess usually nobility is the one doing the executing. But they do execute their own as well. French Revolution anyone?
But we need more Amazoness, so next.
Another Paladin. Cat’s Ear Tribe is super cute and I might just have to summon it to hug it, but not that useful in combat. I guess with an equip spell it might be nice, but I’d rather not force adorable kitties into fights when I have bigger monsters I can send in.
Pixie Knight is not that useful, but Magical Scientist is just BS. I mean, it is banned for a reason. But at the same time, it’s dangerous to the summoner, so I might just seal it away forever.
“Can I have those cats?” Christina asked.
“... really? Well I guess I can give it to you.” I agreed with her. But then I don’t get to pet them. Well I guess I do have Fusionist.
Still no swords woman, tiger or blowpiper though, so Next.
Well, Mass Driver could be used in some situations. I think. Magical Merchant is decent in the card game, but not really here.
Next.
“These cards can even make poison?” Christina asked.
“Yeah, but why is that so strange? They can make a potion so poison is not that far off.” I responded.
Other than the Poison of the Old Man, which is nice and all, Magical Marionette does generate spell counters, so that might be useful. And Wave-Motion Cannon is good as well. Depending on how long it actually takes to charge. … yeah. It might be just ok.
But still a lack of Amazoness, so next.
White Dragon Ritual. Not bad. Sadly I need Paladin of White Dragon to go along with it and I don’t have one yet. Second Goblin does some interesting things with Giant Orc, but it’s just not really worth it. And Mega Ton Magical Cannon is super strong, but it just needs too many spell counters.
Next.
“Another Amazoness Paladin. Can you really get as many of them as you want?” Christina asked.
“Well, I do have a limit on pack tokens, but technically yes. If I have enough time.” I told her.
Other than the Paladin, another Mass Driver. Ante is.. quite useless. And Gather Your Mind might actually have a purpose if I install it.
Next.
“There is the Amazoness Tiger.” I pointed out the rare I was searching for. “And Amazoness Spellcaster is good for you as well.” She can use it against powerful monsters and take them down a notch.
“That’s good then. Do you think we have enough of these Amazoness monsters already? I don’t want to steal all of your pack tokens.” Christina said.
“Let me check.” I moved over to the collection. 3x Fighter, 3x Paladin and one of each Archer, Tiger and Spellcaster.
And the emblem for Buster Blader is a thing as well, but I only got one of them, so I’ll probably keep it until I can get another one. I’ll need it as fusion material for Dark Paladin after all. Unless I place the Emblem in a toploader and that way I can get a Buster Blader every day. Yeah. Let's do that instead.
Oh yeah, there was also that guillotine trap. Dramatic Rescue. Need to give that to Christina as well. I'll never use it anyway.
“Well, I guess it is enough. You can only summon three at the same time after all.” I told her.
“Great. Then could we get something I can fly on?” She asked.
“... I thought you said you won’t steal all of my tokens.”
“... Well, when you put it that way.”
“No. We can go for a flier. I don’t mind.” I told her.
(Laura, give me a set please.) I asked.
(Rise of Destiny has two birds large enough to carry a person and they are both common.) Laura said.
(Then that’s where we are headed.)
Use a ‘Pack token’ to open 1 pack of ‘Rise of Destiny’ |
[Yes] [No] |
Eagle Eye? I assume that was the flier Laura meant. First pack wonder with that.
“Oh, what an elegant eagle. Could that be what you want to give me?” Christina asked.
“Yeah. But I think there is something else available as well, so I’ll open another pack of this with my last token.” I told her.
“Your last? So you really did use all of your tokens on me. I must make up for it by taking extremely good care of the dungeon for you.” She decided.
“Nah. Don’t worry about it. I’ll get more tokens.”
Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast is also a big beater so I might use it at some point. Or not, but we’ll see.
(And there is the other bird.) Laura casually said.
(Laura. Are you suggesting I hand over The Roc to Christina? Isn’t that thing like a massive bird monster? Do you really think she could ride it around?)
(It’s not any larger than your Blue-Eyes, so I don’t see the issue.) Laura commented.
(That is the issue. Blue-Eyes is already large enough to cause fear.)
(Christina is a noble so she can most likely deal with all the backlash.) Laura said.
… fine. Have it your way. I did get Harpie Lady 2 as well, so… Well the Roc is still the best thing in the pack.
“I’m not sure it’s a good idea, but you can have this bird as well.” I told Christina. “But do be warned, it’s about the size of my white dragon, so you might have some explaining to do.”
“A large bird? Yes please. Perhaps I can fly to say hi to my family.” Christina seemed excited.
“Just be careful not to fall.” I warned her. “I’m heading to bed now. I’ll get the cards to a usable state for you tomorrow. Hold onto these for the night in case of an emergency.” I said as I once again handed Dark Magician and St. Joan over to her.
“Good night.” She wished as I moved towards the beds.
Just one more thing before sleep. Reprint packs. And they will be all to myself. Unless there is something Christina could really use.
I quickly checked the card pool of Dark Revelation Volume 1 but Amazoness Swords Woman is super rare in that one as well. Paladin of White Dragon is also in that set, but it is super rare as well. I’ll just go with Dark Beginning 1 because it has all the OP spell cards.
Couple Urabys, Hyozanryu, Revival Jam could see soome use as well. Torrential is nice as well, but it’s still too destructive to use. But really, United We Stand is great. It’s super strong so that might even need a toploader. At a later date. Or perhaps I could install it into something like my sword. Well, I’ll think about it.
And then there is Exchange. Normally, it’s nothing special. Unless you want to take your opponent’s God card. But perhaps if I install it, it could do something … more. If I can make an exchange route from my terminal to Christina’s terminal, we could trade things like letters. And I could use it as a way of giving her more cards. Need to try that tomorrow as well. But for now I’m just going to say that I got some great pulls today. And good night.
For those of you who are using text to speech and want to hear a readout of all the cards.

Card Exchange train of though would be awesome if true, why not install United we Stand on himself, then his stats will be boosted for every ally he has, or every monster he has summoned. Torrential Tribute is super nice, blast everything in front of him with a powerful torrent of water.
Also got the Creator Incarnate, maybe he should fish out that The Creator card, maybe he can remove the cooldown on cards with Top Loaders and sleeves by discarding a card?
If he installed United on himself, it would likely not be an always active skill, (You know, for balance reasons. Not that this series has any semblance of balance.) but one he would activate to gain stat boost depending on the size of his party + summoned monsters. Not a big difference, but still.
And The Creator will come when he wants to come. You can't rush someone called The Creator. And yeah, he can definitely do some no CDR things with it. That's the basic stuff. More advanced stuff is using him as a monster reborn on legs (for people), that just cost some levels/skills off of the person being revived. (Again, for 'balance' reasons.) And one card.
@nro_8
gain stat boost depending on the size of his party + summoned monsters
I meant one or the other, not both, it is more reasonable to be with his summoned monsters I think, maybe not 800 attack points per monster, but maybe like 100 to all stats per monster as he usually summons one or two. It will only work while he has an active monster on the field, like his Damage reduction skill that pasively protects him from Damage for every monster he has summoned.
Maybe United we Stand can be a skill that can level so it gains like 100 points to all stats per level per monster summoned. Same with Mage Power giving it a skill that gives him 100 points to his max MP per card he has intalled on him per level of the skill.
@Ruiso That would work as well. Turn it into an offensive version of Summoner's Protection. Or even integrate it into summoner's protection making the skill evolve into a unique skill. Something like Summoner's Power or Summoner's Unity.
@nro_8 Summoner's Unity sounds really nice
@Ruiso I liked that more as well as it sounds like a combination of protection and power. This would also create a nice flow of skills that seem like a natural part of the world, instead of being there only for Brian.
It sounds relly good, maybe some summoner's could also have one or both skills, like I want to see more broken summoner's in the world. Like a school arc maybe where he is in an elite class for Summoners, maybe train to gain more Summoner's specific skill that he can mix with installing more cards wich will eventually scale with Mage Power.
Maybe meet a hot Summoner Teacher or a fellow summoner classmate that will make Alice competitive nature to be put to the limits as the two female wizards battle for the heart of Brian, only to both loose to Laura in the end.
@Ruiso And this is why you have a kingdom. So many ideas going everywhere.
If someone else will have Summoner's unity, it will likely not be your standard student or teacher. It would likely be a master summoner that operates in the Sage's tower. Just because having a student with a skill that powerful would be strange.
But perhaps there could be someone with Summoner's Power as a student in the Royal Magic Academy when we get there. And she can be cause the Alice to react. Now if only I had someone I already wanted to add to the series. Someone who would live in the Royal Capital. Someone who uses twin daggers and comes from a family line that could give her an advantage when it comes to summoning. But you know, that's just me thinking about potential futures.
You mean the one we came up a couple of chapters back? You made her a Summoner
@Ruiso
Yes, her. And no, I didn't make her a summoner, yet. But She is someone that will show up in the series at a convenient time for a story like that to take place. And with her weapon (or the weapon of the character she is based on) being twin short swords, skill like summoner's power would fit her well.
Really nice maybe she can get a pair of Butterfly dagger Elma
@Ruiso
Install both Butterfly Dagger - Elma and Twin Swords of Flashing Light - Tryce into her weapons to make them stronger?
Butterfly Dagger Elma making sure the weapons always return to her if she throws/loses them and Tryce allowing each attack to hit twice at lower power, maybe.
