CHAPTER 25: WIND TRAIL!

ORIGINAL Author: Chaos

SPINOFF Author: Vester

Hot air flowed over the mountains, engulfing the south and exchanging the embrace of spring for the humidity of summer.

Following this came heavy rain, a good omen, destroying the leaves and leaving the flowers to wither!

Bo City was regarded as a city with many seasons; however, sometimes it could get exceedingly unruly.

Four Months had passed by since Mo Fan became a novice hunter. He had a lot of fun in these four months teasing the Wang Xiulin the receptionist. He treated her as a next door pretty elder sister who can be teased easily. She was not in Mo Fan’s strike zone though, they had 15-16 years of age gap after all...

Not only that but Mo Fan had gained a lot of experience fighting the Colossal Eyed Ape Rats, he was now accustomed to their Speed & Lasers and could kill them quite easily without suffering a single wound.

At first he used to suffer injuries while fighting them and couldn’t handle them coming in group of two or three at once, but he learned and observed the perfect way to deal with them, first he would Paralyze them with Python Scar and them kill them with 2-3 Searing Flames. He stuck to using only level 1 spells of both elements as a means to train himself!

Now he could deal with 10-15 Colossal Eyed Ape Rats at once. His Fire Element had reached the Second Level of Fire Burst: Bones Scorcher in just four months after Cultivating it and his Lightning Element’s Stardust was growing slowly as he only focused on the Fire Element this whole semester.

If you were to put the progress of Stardust in numerical terms then, A Peak Mage whose Star Dust of Basic Level is completely saturated can cast 15 Spells at Basic Level 3. The Normal people’s Cultivation progress is something like this.

Level 1 = 10%

Level 2 = 35%

Level 3 = 60%

Normal Mages reach 60% at third Level and have to Cultivate and Meditate until 100% to reach the peak where you can cast 15 Spells of the highest level and also reach the necessary point required to perform a breakthrough to next level. They don’t want to meditate and gather mana so much at early levels, so as soon as they reach the first level and have sufficient mana they start cultivating the element, reaching the next level with insufficient mana.

The original progress is something like this with proper mana accumulation through a Meditation/Cultivation tool.

Original Level 1 = 25%

Original Level 2 = 50%

Original Level 3 = 75%

Level Peak = 100%

But Mo Fan was a little different than Normal, since Little Loach was there to carry him. His progress could be calculated like this, with including Mana Capacity.

Level 1 Fire Element = 34%

Level 2 Fire Element = 66%

Current Fire Element Cultivation = 77%

Level 1 Lightning Element = 33%

Level 2 Lightning Element = 67%

Current Lightning Element Cultivation = 88%

He could already cast 15 Spells consequently of level 2 Stardust. Not only that but his Mana Capacity never depletes as the amount he gains is more than the amount he loses. He could keep casting his spells forever.

He had killed 160 Colossal Eyed Ape Rats in these four months. There was also one more thing Mo Fan noticed, whenever he killed a monster, a bluish green fist size ball of light would float and get absorbed inside Little Loach. Most of them would be dim, dull and colourless but there were 3-4 which were bright and beautiful.

His spiritual world was full of these balls of light, truth be told it was kind of annoying for him.

“What the hell are these dull ball of lights. I wish they would just go away! They have been noting but a problem for me.” Mo Fan said in annoyance, as it was getting in its way of cultivation.

Brrr~~

Suddenly Little Loach vibrated as if it had heard of his master’s discomfort.

Mo Fan noticed that all 156 Dull Balls of lights (Soul Remnants) excluding the beautiful and bright ones (Soul Essences), started merging with themselves as they came all together.

Mo Fan watching this phenomenon was Dumbfounded to say the least. Just as he said it Little Loach took action. He was really his good brother as he always helped him.

Soon a bright glow emerged after all the Dull lights (Soul Remnants) merged with each other and a new bright and beautiful ball of light (Soul Essence) appeared.

“Huh? A new bright ball of light emerged? No it was refined! Little Loach refined all those 156 dull lights into single bright light? Seriously?! It’s such a waste!! Refining all my hard work into a single bright light bulb. I thought you were making them compact or something.” Mo Fan was exasperated by little loach’s action and immediately got angry. After all the number of those dull lights was not small at all! Just gaining a single bright light bulb for it was not worth it at all!

......

Mo Fan was already in a bad mood, and there were voices of people coming from outside his dorm room, Mo Fan went forward to see what they were doing when a loud bang of lightning was heard from out of the window.

Just this morning, the sun was fierce and illuminating. There was not a single cloud that could be seen for thousands of miles. The nap he took felt the same as the one with which he crossed worlds, a strange gust with the black clouds covering the entire sky. As it became evening, the torrential rain and wind became ice-cold.

“Is there a storm coming? This crappy weather…It is randomly happening all year round; it becomes whatever season it wants without skipping a beat!” Zhang Xiaohou complained from within the dorms.

“Zhang Xiaohou, aren’t you a Wind element user? Come, you should go out into the storm and see if you can activate the primary skill of Wind element, Wind Trail.” Lu Xiaobing from the same dorm said.

“Don’t you freaking have the Water element; why aren’t you going out and showing the Water Barrier, oh magnificent Water Mage. You’re still using an umbrella when you go out; aren’t you ashamed when you go out?”

Lu Xiaobing’s face turned pale.

Truly, A Water element Mage should technically have a Water Shield in the rain.

The problem is, it’s almost time for the Annual Examination, only 15 days are left. Lu Xiaobing could only control four stars; thus, there was still quite a distance from him being able to activate the Water element Spell, Water Barrier.

“Zhang Xiaohou, can you really use Wind Trail? Why don’t you show us? The truth is, other than seeing that violent girl, Zhou Min, using Fire Burst, we haven’t seen anyone else in class use proper magic.” The dorm head, who talked about his lewd thoughts about Ms. Tang Yue every day, said.

“It’s not going so well; I can’t guarantee the 100% succession.” Zhang Xiaohou said with a slight shyness.

“Monkey, show it to us. I also wanna see what the Wind element Spell looks like,” Mo Fan eyes beamed as he put down the theory book in his hands.

“The place is too small.”

“Use the hallway; the hallway is long enough.”

“…Okay, let me try. But I’m really not proficient at it,” Zhang Xiaohou nodded his head.

It’s already the end of the term, and Zhang Xiaohou had quite the talent. He was one of the very small number of people in the class that could control seven stars.

Everyone was curious about the spells of every element; naturally, they also wanted to see Zhang Xiaohou used his.

Zhang Xiaohou closed his eyes and began to enter the activation state.

He was really slow; it was clear that he wasn’t very good at controlling the stars.

He maintained the rhythm of his breathing, and the breathing was audible.

Whooosh.

Suddenly, the books on the table began to move.

The dormitory’s old doors began to creak.

The dust on the floor began to rise, and swirled the dirty underwear beneath the bed. As the boss of the dormitory was about to grab it, the underwear elegantly avoided his hands and floated unrestricted in the wind!

“Wind Trail, Fast stride!”

Zhang Xiaohou’s entire temperament changed; a greyish green colour emerged within his eyes as his lapel began to brandish.

Along with his incantations, the toothbrush, cups, and clothing racks clattering about. They were all moving according to the trail.

Mo Fan quickly composed himself to watch this scene. From these pieces of junk and the swirling dust, he surprisingly discovered an unusual air stream in the dormitory. This stream of air originated from Zhang Xiaohou’s location; it spread all the way from the hall to the other side of the hallway’s public toilet.

Swoosh!!

Suddenly, Zhang Xiaohou’s figure disappeared.

The former unmoving Zhang Xiaohou standing in the center of the dormitory became as though he used the Ripple Tiny Steps; the speed was as fast as a whirlwind as he frantically charged out of his dorm and followed the indiscernible Wind Track in the air that went toward the toilet at the end of the hallway!

“That’s awesome!!” Lu Xiaobing yelled out.

The group of people in the dormitory immediately squeezed themselves out the door and chased after Zhang Xiaohou.

However, as everyone exited their dorms, Zhang Xiaohou had already quickly shifted from the left side of the hallway to the very end of the hall.

Too fast!

Any 100-meter sprinter’s speed would be pathetic compared to this movement!

Mo Fan’s felt a ripple in his heart. The Wind Element’s basic spell was also really cool; the feeling of stepping onto the Wind Track must be amazing.

“Help, help!” Zhang Xiaohou called out.

Peng!!!

The hallway suddenly trembled. As Mo Fan just finished his envying sigh, the Zhang Xiaohou in the distance hit the door of the public toilet.

People began to laugh at him.

The crooked faucet began to spray wildly, and a part of the toilet door was broken. A strong and fishy stink quickly spread out throughout the entire floor as there now was no door to prevent the smell. In a split second, cursing voices were heard.

The Wind Track finally dissipated. Zhang Xiaohou was laying on the ground with his nose bleeding.

This appearance was already pretty miserable. Unfortunately, the underwear that followed the flow of the wind lost the wind force and finally landed the poor guy’s face.

Lu Xiaobing and the dorm head hastily dragged Zhang Xiaohou back to his dorm.

The dorm head took back his underwear and opened it to find a blood stain.

“Dorm head, I didn’t know you also had that time of the month~” Lu Xiaobing cracked up.

“Get outta here,” The dorm head reluctantly threw his beloved underwear into the bin.

Mo Fan silently retracted his head and returned to his bed before the residence manager charged over in a fury; he acted as though nothing had ever happened.

The Wind Element’s spell seems good. This movement speed was not any slower than the that of 60kmph. It’s just Zhang Xiaohou hasn’t met the standards; thus, he didn’t know how to pull over and stop.

“You group of brats. The annual examination is near, and you still aren’t properly meditating; instead, you’re here doing these things. If I see this happening again, I’ll skin you alive!” the residence manager’s roar spread across the entire hallway in this wind and rain.
